    Hope you guys enjoy seeing this behind the scenes, I very much enjoyed the whole process, and it was made all the more special by the crew who looked after me in Madrid, so a BIG thank you to Sara, Ruben and Marcos. Thanks also to Laura who designed the set and Irene who took all the photos.

    This is amazing, Melanie! I’m here filming my second one right now, and you’d think having done it once it would be much easier. But it is as nerve-wracking and intense as ever! Watching this video was so reassuringly familiar, to hear you expressing everything I’m going through each day. You come across so well in your course and it looks beautiful. Congratulations, and thank you for your honesty.

      Hi Laura! So lovely to read your comment thank-you for watching and so glad to hear it's been an encouragement for you, whilst you're filming again. I'm sure it will all be well but that doesn't take away from those nerves of the first few filming days. So glad to hear you're back in Madrid though and hope the remainder of your time you can enjoy.

    I just finished watching your course and really enjoyed it. I still need to do the projects, but that's what winter is for. I loved seeing how involved the crew was with setting up your veggies and art supplies. Everything looks effortless in the final videos. I'm looking forward to being in your new sketchbook class in January.

      Lovely to hear. Yes so much is unseen in these productions, it's a bit like a Swan looking serene on the top but below paddling furiously. Thankyou for watching and see you in class!

    Hi Mel, I purchased your class a few weeks ago and have got part way through it, I found this so interesting to watch the behind the scenes, I had no idea how much work goes into a class. Well done for doing something out of your comfort zone, you came across very friendly and class is really good I am finding out lots of new things. Blessings from Australia

      Thanks Michelle. It is surprising how much goes into it- I hadn't realised how much prep was done on Domestika's side too, so it's been a learning experience for me as well.

    Hello! I'm new to your channel but have really been enjoying your studio vlogs - they keep me company in the studio 😄 also I have to say I LOVE maps, I collect old maps of Scotland and beyond and I've attempted to paint a few, but I super love your map illustrations

    Hi,
    Thank you for making this video! I am traveling from Los Angeles to Madrid to film a course for Domestika next month. I was supposed to film in New York in January, but they closed that studio right before I was supposed to film and I have been wondering what the experience will be like. You come across as very relaxed and centered in the video and I'm sure that you do in your course as well.

    • @MelanieChadwick
      @MelanieChadwick  Рік тому

      Glad it was helpful! Hope your preparations are going well. They will take care of you. Interesting to hear of the studio closing, I was due to make another course last year but my producer was made redundant and it was never rescheduled so I'm glad they have made it happen for you in Madrid.

    Hi, it was great to see the behind-the-scenes!
    About the filming the course, I have a question. How did it look like? Were you filming only the introduction parts and painting-live parts with the technical recorded separately by you by screen recording? Or was it all-all filmed in the studio?

    • @MelanieChadwick
      @MelanieChadwick  Рік тому

      Thankyou! Yes the Ai instruction was created using screen capture in my studio and the painting/trailor/etc was done in the Domestika studio.

    Thanks for this amazing video! I’ve seen your course on Domestika and will definitely add it to my purchase list. Funny thing, if you had produced a course on map illustration I would have already purchased it a few months ago when I was searching Domestika for just that. Maybe you can return to make another?

    • @MelanieChadwick
      @MelanieChadwick  2 роки тому +1

      Thank a lot, glad to hear. I am returning to and currently preparing another course but it is on landscapes and sketchbooks with mixed media. I did suggest a map illustration one but it wasn't picked up!

    I’m not very into food illustration but I’d love a course on map making by you! Specially in a sketchbook since I don’t really do digital art. 😊 will keep my eyes peeled in case you do! 🤓

    Very well put! Thanks for the detailed journey ❤️
    I wonder if you are paid per student? Or is it a fixed payment done by Domestika?
    Do you get a certain percentage of each payment your students do?
    I’m thinking pf contacting Domestika and thought to check all the details first!
    Thank you ❤️

    • @MelanieChadwick
      @MelanieChadwick  2 роки тому

      Thankyou. They pay a fixed advance payment once you've filmed the course and then once published you get a percentage of student sales, however you only get sales once you've reached the amount you were paid.

    Hello, is this something domestika requires you to do? And is it handled by domestika the cost and everything

    • @MelanieChadwick
      @MelanieChadwick  2 роки тому +1

      No, they don't require a vlog or similar ( if that's what you mean),I thought it may be helpful to others who may be teaching on Domestika to see behind the scenes. Domestika does handle the teacher's accommodation and travel costs.

    Production definitely feels at a high level. One minor thing - language. I would prefer more English language and dubbed to English courses. I am just not fan of hitting pause every five seconds to read subtitle. But overall great learning platform.

      I think they are working on that, and introducing more english speaking teachers. I will be running another course this year too.
