- How Powerful is US Navy Ford Class Aircraft Carrier - The Gerald R. Ford class aircraft carrier is the future aircraft carrier replacement class for Enterprise and Nimitz class aircraft carriers for the U.S. Navy. The Gerald R. Ford (CVN 78) was ordered from Newport News Shipbuilding on Sept. 10, 2008.
The Gerald R. Ford class will be the premier forward asset for crisis response and early decisive striking power in a major combat operation. Gerald R. Ford class aircraft carriers and carrier strike groups will provide the core capabilities of forward presence, deterrence, sea control, power projection, maritime security and humanitarian assistance.
The class brings improved warfighting capability, quality of life improvements for our Sailors and reduced total ownership costs.

Crazy that My USA is the biggest military power to ever exist in earths history thus far ❤️ and were are not even the most populated country.
The weak to very weak US military?
Fake news is getting pretty crazy yea. Stop doing it?
We are building more nuclear submarines than aircraft carriers now anyone trying to up their navy to match ours and also being technologically behind isn’t any better than us in numbers
@@Lino_elevation Ah so you are a denial troll? You deny the official status for the US military being word for word being weak to very weak. Didn't read the report? Didn't hear the Chairman of the US Senate Armed Services Committee when he spoke those words under oath before the People and US Congress?
My navy doesn't need to match weak to very weak sorry. We have a powerfull one? One of our boats could easily take out an entire US Carrier Battlegroup at full strenght undetected remember?
I do agree the US navy is technologically behind. Not to mention over 70% of US sailors are not even qualified to be in the navy, lol!
Ehime Maru and USS Greeneville collision, USS Dolphin major flooding and fire, USS Oklahoma City collision with tanker, USS Hartford grounding, USS San Francisco collision with undersea terrain, USS Philadelphia collision with MV Yasa Aysen, USS Minneapolis-Saint Paul incident, USS Newport News collision with Japanese tanker Mogamigawa, USS Hartford and USS New Orleans collision, USS Miami arson, USS Montpelier collision with USS San Jacinto, USS Jacksonville collision.
Yea too bad the US bumperscar fleet wrecks those subs faster then the 2 they can build per year. If they do not burn them down in drydocks?

Forcing US soldiers to buy their own gear and share their guns on deployment??
You can claim some BS story if you like? I see no proof or evidence to anything 'powerfull' at all. Meanwhile US jets are dropping out of the sky and goatherders in Aghanistan kick the US military about like a ragdoll. Even Iran can easily capture US warships and put US sailors down on their knees and make them call out for Commander Mommy. Oh on video ofcourse. ;-)
I bet a 1960s museumpiece from the 1960s could sink an entire US CBG. Like Canada did during Ocean Venture? Or the French during RIMPAC'15? How about the Gotland? Yea single boats beating entire USN fleets with ease.
Sorry we will lead the most powerfull military in the history of mankind. It's definately not the officially weak to very weak US military. Educated people will read the facts. Propaganda rants and lies get thrown out under my great red, white and blue.

The Nimitz's 2 A4W reactors produce 1100 MW. This is greater than the 600 MW produced by 2 A1B reactors.
They're rated at 550MW each but only produce about 100MW of steam each. The AB1 reactors are rated at 700MW each

DBR or Dual band radar onboard USS Ford is the most advanced naval radar ever produced and, unfortunately, it will remain the only DBR radar in US Navy's or any other Navy of its kind. Although all of the Ford class were designed to receive DBR, the radar was nixed from USS JFK and all future Ford class carriers because of the enormous cost.
DBR was also supposed to be installed onboard the Zumwalt class but was also replaced by less advanced radar for cost reasons. Arleigh Burke Flight III was planned to receive it but the radar was deemed to heavy and power hungry for the upgraded 1980s design destroyer. Next large surface combatant, future replacement for Arleigh Burke should get something similar to DBR so these ships can simultaniously track and engage air and ballistic threats.
Unlike WWII, Nowadays the bigger the aircraft carrier is ...means the bigger target for hypersonic ballistic missiles from superpower nation to attack and make it destroyed and sink into the bottom of the sea piece by piece.........No aircraft carrier can defend itself when more than 5 to 10 hypersonic ballistic missiles are set to attack it at the same time from top of the sky above atmosphere........Better believe!!!
@@citizenuniverse1740 Well if you say it, we don't have a choice but to believe it.. I sure hope this comment reaches a single US Navy admiral who can pass it through the Pentagon, over SecDef Austin's desk and finally to POTUS. I'm sure these people will be amazed by the breakthrough information you've just provided regarding the vulnerability and ultimate trashiness of the Nimitz and Ford class aircraft carriers, so we can end this 50 billion dollar travesty. I have no doubt that your deep, but stil simple to understand, analysys, will make them realise how useless aircraft carriers are..
Next step is of course, pulling out our troops from the Pacific, from Japan, S Korea and even Guam, and consider ourselves lucky if the Chinese don't pursue us to Hawaii and beyond..
But there's a silver lining in all of this.. We'll get 11 museum ships (minus the ones the angry Chinese will sink). Thank you man for opening my eyes. Our eyes.. I never thought about it that way... 5-10 anti ship ballistic missiles you say, and that's it?? I'm sure the Chinese can muster 10 ASBMs. Please tell me they can... Reassure me..
While we're at it, I've heard that the mighty Russian Army has these new anti stealth radars that they've incorporated into the S-400 system which practically render F-35s obsolete.. So while we're on the run in the Pacific, we should do the same in Europe. There's simply no hope for our Air force against the Russian military.. Again, we should run from Europe while we can and hope they wont chase us to our shores.
NATO is dead of course and we should beg Putin to stop at the Polish border... After all, our entire air force became obsolete with a single Russian invention. All those F-35s, Raptors, B-2s and an entire 4th gen aircraft fleet is heading to the Boneyard..
Again, thank you, thank you, thank you sir..
Ford is power!
I wanna see that carrier doing a 90* turn
So the electric take off/landing systems have too many problems. Too bad, they sounded great on paper.

Excellent technology but a huge target for any modern military.
Aircraft carriers are always the largest and most tempting target for a military in war. Have been since WWII. And yet not one American Navy carrier has been sunk in battle since then. Be realistic for a minute. American carriers are huge and tempting targets, but what nation would dare to try and sink one? They’d have to face waves of some of the most advanced fighter jets in the world, and heavy AA fire and waves of SAMs from the escort fleets that always travel around carriers. Then there is the fact that the carrier is huge and heavily armored. It wouldn’t be like WWII where 1-3 torpedos would be enough to sink one. You’d need a crazy amount of ordnance to damage it enough to justify scuttling it, and even more to outright sink it in battle. Yeah it’s a huge target, but it’s so huge that no nation’s military can challenge it, let alone an entire carrier fleet.
@@ouch-ee2tp
You don’t need to get near one. Both Russia and China have hypersonic missiles that even the pentagon claims they have no defense against…
Somebody will say this every time someone mentions an aircraft carrier. Clueless.
@@michaelmappin4425
Just keeping it real for you my friend…
@marcusaetius9309 I strongly disagree with your point of view. I heard arguments like that in 1986 when I was assigned to my first aircraft carrier. In fact, they were saying that in the 50s. Hypersonic missiles aren't nearly effective enough to be a threat, and they go slow enough near the end of flight for standard defensive measures. Just check out their performance in Ukraine. We have our own submarines for the underwater threat. If you ever get a chance to attend the US Navy War College in Newport, RI, you'll get some inside info that might change your mind. In an all-out war with China, we may lose 1 or 2 carriers, but the enemy will quickly be overwhelmed with the undertaking. In the meantime, there hasn't been a single ground operation since 1945 where the close air support a carrier provides hasn't saved many American lives. Add to that humanitarian operations, search and rescue, medical evacuation, projection of power, diplomatic missions, anti piracy, and much more. Actually, the more I type, the more I realize, I shouldn't even have engaged this thread. 😅
