They nerfed Danny's shine so hard for this movie. No way would that trick have worked on him at his peak. Guess they had to though, otherwise the new girl couldn't have... out *shined* him.
In the book its mentioned that the shine fades or wavers in intensity over time and tends to be stronger in kids, happened to danny and abra as well later in the book
I felt bad for her when I read her backstory, but the sympathy died when I saw she was willing to join with what is essentially a group of Child Predators. The very predators that made her who she was.
Danny's shine was so strong that Snakebite Andi had to try extra hard to put him to sleep.
