I was a Vietnamese refugee in Hong Kong 1979. Many of my friends told me to see this movie just for the music. Although I could only understand half of the content of the movie because of language barrier, but this song is still haunting me even after 30 years.
I love this movie lot. At that time I was a secondary school student. I remember the refugees crisis and I had great sympathy on the Vietnamese refugees. They had no choice but to flee their homeland.
I was Thai and only 2 years old in1979 .My mom with me went to see this movie in the theatre near Yao wa raj (china town in bkk) I still remember this nice song until now.
oh...My god!! It was 30 years ago. When I first time watch this movie. It brought everything back to my memory. It's just like yesterday... just happened. I watch this movie with my older sister when she was 17. Imagine...I'm 40 yrs now.

I watched this movie when I was at Junior High School, and I was amazed by the beautiful voice and face. And the image has engrained in my brain for almost four decades.
She certainly was a beautifully soul with beautiful expression but I sense a hurt and pain of some anquish but seems to find the joy within to overcome with some confidence she is capturvating but I must admit to this being the first time I have seen this but however so reminiscent of the times a times past rememberense is often common an I can share the memory as I feel drawn back in time it is true also that in entertainment it is not pleasent to hear celebrities complaining but our lives have become rife with triad activities it's easy to be black listed with the underground movement where our loyalties within ourselves are not mutual with that having been said my heart goes out to you Asia I will now look forward to hopefully watching this movie for my playlist list since your comments suggest this is a well recommended watch
