Hi Eddy. The hotel is ok but why don't you use Airbnb? Far cheaper. Rooms far bigger with separate living room bedrooms bathroom and kitchen. The same facilities. Lady friendly and security for peace of mind. Guards take the girls ID until they leave. Happy to tell you where I stay. It's just off second road. Ideal for baht bus to everywhere. No maid knocking on your door. 🙃
I’ve stopped at Areca many many times always good and great situation for LK Metro / Soi Buckaw . Also it’s almost opposite one of my favourite morning / afternoon bars . Harry’s ! Another great video Ed
Hi Eddy. Looks lovely, but a tad expensive! They used to have the annual Ladyboy water volleyball charity event every November there, an real EYE OPENER! Also, why where you wearing a face mask in your room? Take care, and enjoy! 🇬🇧
It looks nice. I always end up going for 2 star budget hotel because I get in late so have no chance of making breakfast. Also I too never get round to using the swimming pool at the hotel as I just want to hit the bars for some reason!
Thoroughly enjoyed watching this. Have often wondered what it's like there. By the way you didn't have to keep your mask on, I'm sure I'd have been quite safe.
Love the Steady Eddy 5-star review. I've stayed there a couple of times myself. One of the best places in that part of Pattaya. I'm enjoying your journey and take care.
I always find that Luck bar opposite that hotel is a nice easy bar to relax in. Girls are friendly without pressuring you and prices are ok. But I haven't been there since January 2020. Due to be there Monday 24th this month. If your still around Ed I will buy you a beer or two for all your hard work. Well done mate. Keep it up.
love soi diana,my old stomping ground, soi 10,walked past this place a thousand times and always wondered what is was like inside, thanks Ed,back in the day id stay 50 mtrs further up the road twd 3rd rd,absolutely fantastic location soi 10 and the soi metro area
Nice review Eddie, I don’t blame you for treating yourself to a nice hotel like that, the breakfast buffet is a nice extra and worth a few quid as are the 2 pools and gym. Regarding the TV in the room and wether or not people watch it, I do tend to turn it on in any new country I’m in because it gives me a small insight to what’s going on and I really get a sense that I’m in another country even if that means I’m watching a naff soap opera in a language I don’t understand! Keep the videos coming mate, a lot of us are travelling vicariously through you until we can hit the road again.
I like watching Thai TV Channels as well even though I don't understand a word of it. Nice just to browse through the channels see what sort of stuff the Thai's are watching.
Hey Eddie I’m glad you have done this Vlog, This is the hotel I last stayed in , in Pattaya, We had some amazing fun there and swimming in the pools etc, This brings back good memories thanks mate , Take care.
I stayed there few years ago, had a room overlooking the pool, lovely hotel service was really good also the breakfast. Ideally situated and good price, I would definitely stay there again. Guest friendly as well.
Always stay here when possible, previously when I used to visit on business when my expenses account ran to a great deal more, going back 15 years or so. Cut a great B&B deal for 2 months during the Red/Yellow shirts skirmishes in Bangkok when I needed peace and quiet to work and relax. Great pools, breakfast etc. Post employment the Areca continues to be my fave in Pats
A Nice rewiev. But it is actually 3 buildings. Building no 3 is The one opposite your room. Agree that The aircon is noisy. It was so noisy that I upgraded my room. Add 200bt to 1750bt and got a room in The most recently renovated part of The hotel. Same building as The breakfastroom. Very comfortable and quiet rooms. Can recomend. Guestfriendly as you stated, The lady looked at me smiling and said one ladyfriend free if you bring 2 ladyfriends 300bt extra for towels.. lol
Showed the front desk at Areca this video, the skinny girl looks and says, " Ohhh 40,000 subscribers". " I remember him.." You made them happy Eddie 👍👍
I stay there often the trick is to say you have two guest that way your lady friend if she stays the night can have breakfast lol I like the new part better your staying in the old part of the hotel there are rooms that where 600 TB but you have to ask and they are not much of a view but they do have aircon
I've never stayed in the Areca Lodge, but walked past it many times. Kev in Thailand (rip) used to frequently mention the hotel on his videos. Loving the vids! Great news is coming out of the LOS's that the Test and Go is likely to restart by the beginning of February! My month long trip at the end of March is starting to look as though it's finally going to happen!! Yah!!!!
Ive forgot how many times Ive booked and had to cancel Areca lodge in the last 2 years. Fingers crossed for April. Areca is our go to hotel, has proper bacon at breakfast too. 😄👍
That is one of the old rooms better then what u are used to Eddy indeed better to be comfortable cannot take the cash to the grave better Hotel for sure the newer ones are the front.
Hi mate great hotel and well worth it.Always stay in the evergreen building,it’s not as old as the other two.Great breakfast great staff and great location.
Best review of the Areca i've seen. Always wanted to stay there but it always seem to be booked full for late Nov, Dec, Jan. I always rent a condo at VT6 so not bad. Thanks for posting sir!
Hi Eddy, another great sitrep mate! For a room and breakfast like that it's a good deal and the pool makes it an excellent deal. You are helping a lot of people I reckon with your videos. Help them land on their feet instead of their arse lol. (you only missed out the ubiquitous old school Thai hotel bottle opener on the bathroom wall) keep up the good work, live your videos 👍
Hi Ed. I stayed there in March 2020. It’s one of my favorite, especially the newer area near Soi Diane (or is it Diana). I love the location, I would cut through the back when I wanted to go to The Avenue. And, while I was there, I met you while I was walking on Soi Buakhao. Glad to see your back. I want to stay there again when I return.
Areca Lodge on Soi Diana. Stayed there first time in 2004. It's been hugely renovated and I could hardly recognize it in 2020. BTW in the deepest dark time of 2020 the room was 800 Baht. But no buffet breakfast only boring same stuff every morning (very few guests). You (and I) stayed in the "Corona" building (not the virus :>). Other buildings have even better rooms/AC etc. At the good old times before Covid you could hardly get a room for less than 2500 in January.
On the to stay list but with so many recommendations just have not got to this one, But like you Eddie heard many good things and being close to the action no problems bring guest back ticks all the boxes yes you stuck gold.
4 times i spent there Ed ,first time wasn't so nice ..My balcony overlooked a high rise parking lot(serves me right on trying to save a few £) 🤦♂️But my last time was worse ,i turned up and the 2nd swimming pool was out of use and being repaired ..Didn't ruin my holiday though ..the staff are lovely as always ❤️2 oclock you wake up ..you ever heard about people saying about the SUN ..it's real mate😏Your room was the same or close to it when the pool was out of use 😏
The Areca nut is chewed with Betel leaf. The emphasis is on the last syllable as in Ar-e-Car. Before the refurbishment the foyer appeared not to have changed since the 1970s with all the different clocks and telephone booth.
I'm booked there in December, it was supposed to be May but there is too much uncertainty. Take care Eddie and I look forward to the next upload as I'm living vicariously through your travels 55555

Additional info, buffet brekkers, second larger pool not shown with poolside restaurant, another restaurant adjacent to outside bar to the front of the property
Ive walked past this hotel for years and never seen inside, i usually stay at View talay condo building next to Central festival 1500 baht a night, Id imagine Areca lodge might be more expensive once things get back to normal but that location is fantastic

Stayed there for my first 5 to 6 years very enjoyable loved there seafood fried rice 3 buildings areca corona and evergreen had a specials card (ace card) also can get breakfast in the evergreen exits out to soi at back so you can get to Avenue shops. Changed over to condos later for better value. Great position.
I stayed there a few years ago...great location. My problem with it was that the sheets weren't made of cotton. They were of some man made material that "didn't breathe". I sweated all night.

That is a very nice hotel! It has all of the services you would find in much more expensive places. Lovely and spacious hotel room, too. I would love to meet and sit at a table with you in their Beer Garden or Beer Court sometime for a few brews! Thanks for the tour!
Thanks Eddie, the Areca is my home from home, have stayed many times over many years, fantastic staff, always helpful. Also has a great outside bar at the front. Looking forward to staying there in May.
I know it well, usually stay there when in Pattaya. Great location, across the road from LK Metro, and two pools a nice alternative to the beach. The gym is tiny and had no air con last time, which made it impossible to use. Last time I was there it was getting renovated, so could be looking good now. Only bad thing I remember was the bloody loud and hot AC on the balcony. Oh and I remember that little chaise longue (?) coming in useful many an evening!
I also never get around to using the pools. Because when in Thailand, priorities are always boozing or chasing local muff. BTW - hotel safe is essential if you are having anyone staying the night - or put your wallet under the mattress (on your side of the bed)
