This video just popped up and I loved it, don't skip including footage you may find boring or repetitive, seeing the nitty gritty of all the different procedures, upgrades and repairs will be fascinating. I'm 46, divorced 2 years now and have been considering something similar to you, sell the house, car, buy a boat and live on it. This channel will be a treasure trove for me I'm sure. I'm pipe-dreaming of something like an old (thus cheaper) trawler/explorer nordhavn or if I get lucky a steel hull trawler. I've given myself until my early mortgage repayment charges expire, roughly 3 and a half years to get informed, do some courses and see if I can make it happen like you have. Keep going mate, can't wait to see your journey!
I can’t thank you enough for this comment really appreciate it. Honesty I can’t recommend going for it enough. It comes with its own challenges but I think many of us get to a point in the second half of our lives where we question what life is really about. Hi. We have got a nicholson 27 sailing boat. Near Dartmouth. We are currently doing a full refurbishment as it was in a sorry state in the water. It's now in the yard and the repairs and strip out has begun. We also are going to be moving aboard and we are in our 50s. It's our exciting project and it's a fantastic life living on a boat. So many friends and they help you out so much. Good luck with your boat and we will follow. Cheers.

Great video mate, you really captured that feeling of adventure and nostalgia w beginning, anyone that loves boats will understand how you felt. I’m looking forward to more videos and have subscribed.
I have just come across your channel. My father brought an ex- London boatshow ocean 30 some 51 years ago! I was 14/15yrs old and spent weeks on this boat in the 2 summers we had it. This was in jersey. It wasn't really suited to open sea boating, it had twin Mercedes 42hp engines, so rather underpowered against currents! I loved being aboard this boat, I hope you have enjoyed it! Ours was called Aquaroamer and I believe it is still in jersey.
Thank you so much for commenting, I loved reading that. I’ve always been a fan of this make of boat since I was a child. I have the same engines and only really suited to calm sea waters I should imagine. They are sturdy well built boats though. Thanks again for commenting.

Good for you, there’s nothing like an itch just out of reach to spur you on, I too dream of boat living, my biggest regret is that I just didn’t have a plan I now know just £6K saved every year for 10 years could have gotten me a decent narrowboat to call home, yes there is upkeep costs but rather that than continuing pis*ing rent down the drain, £6K saved every year for 15 years could have gotten me a decent widebeam. My cycle route to & from work took me along the towpath, it was a safer way to work off all major roads, I was on nodding terms with many of the boaters, I never had the courage to get to know them & learn their craft, dont do what I did & waste your opportunities.
Ah mate sorry to hear you feel like that. Has that time passed? It doesn’t have to be a narrowboat, I wasn’t after a narrowboat but if I was I wouldn’t have been able to afford one anyway. Tbh the price of my boat is irrelevant because there’s more to consider. If you’re looking for a home mooring or to continuous cruise, if you can repair mechanical issues, if I hadn’t have been a mechanic I’d have had to sell the boat if I’d have had to use an engineer every time I had an engine issue, I reckon my first two years would have cost me 2-3 grand. .... power washing????? taping the hull????????? DRIVE THE BOAT.
But remember that’s your interpretation of what you want from life, we are all on our own journey, for me the time I did spend in the yard working on the boat a few years ago now I made friends with people I see to this day, I learnt skills I use to this day and I have memories I’ll never forget. I wouldn’t have swapped that for anything and if I die tomorrow I’ve already had over two years living on the water on the boat constantly moving. That may sound wrong to you but we are on different paths my friend, to loose focus is to try to drag others on a path only meant for you.
