This was a tricky one! Robin, could you please tell how to "feel" and what to do if one encounters a timing switch in song like this? I was pretty confident till 1:35 and was able to stay on the rhythm the whole time but this switch just ruined everything :D
We're going to cover this in our paid program at thedancedojo.com in more detail. Without getting into too much detail, you can simply repeat either the front half or back half of your basic to get back on time.
I managed to stay on beat only sometimes out a little. Then get back on. When i went off. I stopped and try to come in again..sometimes i step on 1 ..sometimes i step on 5 instead 😅
It's definitely a process and it won't end once you finish all these finding the beat videos. Just keep at it and you'll see the progress! 🙌 -Robin
Doesnt it also change timing at 1:26 and 1:28?
You know what Jess? You could totally be right that the timing switch happens around there. It's hard to hear and I'm no pro musician, but the beauty of that phrase point at around 1:33 is that it makes the timing change super clear and then we can adjust.
Again, the goal isn't to be able to change time exactly when musicians do because that's virtually impossible unless you know the song by heart. The goal is to be able to recognize the timing switch fairly quickly and then adjust. -Robin
