Is it just me, or has this whole production been amateurish? Poor audio quality on day 1. The live board and on-screen board out of sync. I often feel the old analogy :too many chefs spoil the soup. It's hard to keep track of ACTUAL play, when all the commentators muck with the board.
@trevorwalker2958 I didn't bother trying to follow live coverage today. It's much easier to simply view the games when it's over. It's insane trying to follow all these games at the same time. Maybe a gm can keep them all straight, but I can not. Maybe that's why I suck at chess.
For all you Ding haters, check out his WCC game 6 against Nepo! It’s a masterpiece! After that game I was all in with Ding! Tremendous respect to the current world champ!!!❤❤❤

As I stated multiple times, people forget he did this after being screwed over by the pandemic, rules changes, horrid play time, being denied travel and visa etc. With regulations trying to keep him out after not having touched a board in almost 2 years, he got throw a silk thin life line to be able to participate in the candidates but only after playing a grueling 26 games in a month. He is in the worst state of his career emotionally, mentally, physically and still does this against the back to back candidates winner Nepo who was at the absolute peak of his career
Ding is a paper champion. He should be very thankful (at least) to Karjakin + FIDE, Hikaru, Magnus and Nepo for becoming a FIDE classical WC. Magnus is the True Current World Champion!!!❤❤❤🐐🐐🐐
According to Fabiano it’s a marketing thing to appeal to people who don’t know much about the chess world. The PR people seems to think “Freestyle Chess” sounds cooler and easier to promote. Personally I don’t care what they call it, but constantly switching between calling it Fisher Random, Chess 960 and Freestyle is confusing. They need to just pick one and stick to it for the sake of brand consistency.
Freestyle chess simply sounds better. Much easier to promote to the general public as well. Fischer Random sounds pretty weird. Same thing with 960. I think Freestyle will become the norm in a few years.

In this variant (chess 960 AKA Fischer Random), the king is always randomized between the two rooks and castling on both sides are always still allowed. The king and rook must have no pieces blocking their ability to castle and they wind up on the same squares they would in standard chess after the castle.
