Lumber Rack with Scrap Storage

- Shop upgrade! I'm still working on getting the shop built and organized, the next step was getting the lumber off the floor and stacked onto the wall. Here I make a DIY lumber rack out of scrap wood.
It's amazing what kind of holding power wood glue has. These lumber racks are held together with nothing but wood glue and they're plenty strong to hold up 100's of pounds of wood. The only fasteners I used here were 4" lag bolts to secure them tightly to the studs; they're not going anywhere!
Although I added some small compartment to the bottom of the racks, I largely follow Jeremy Schmidt's method of sandwiching the cantilevers between supports. Check out his video here:

Man, all of the projects on this channel are satisfying to watch but shop organization is like icing on the cake.
I love how the shop is coming together!
Love this lumber rack! Very interesting idea for clamping the boards together.
The bottom is brilliant!
Awesome design, love the bottom piece for small pieces so they are easy to access but completely out of the way.
Nice build, I really like the feature for storing small off-cuts at the bottom!
I couldn't hear a word you said. But I like the shelves.
wow.. really amazing. congratulations !
I enjoy your approach to DIY. Keep up the videos and you will go places.
Nicely done! And a pleasant to watch video. Thanks. :)
Very cleverly done!
my friend thank you so much. be happy. very nice channel.
Great work
Neat project that sorts out and tides up.
like a good mafia
pure genius!! well done
Hello very good work. You are a inspiration for my channel and my working with wood.. fromm italy very respect ☺
excellent design brother congratulations!!👍😉✌
Beautiful
Çok güzel ve kullanışlı 👏👍
Damn it, stud finder part hilarious
Bonjour,
votre réalisation est magnifique. Pouvez vous donner les mesures et épaisseurs s’il vous plaît merci beaucoup
I know this is a fairly old video, but I'd REALLY like to know who makes the miter clamping tool you use!
how long do these projects take to design
What were the dimensions? Looks like you started with 2x4 and maybe cut them down to 1 x 2 as the outside and spacer pieces. How long are the arms? I'm thinking abut a 14 -15" in arm.
Good. Idea. Thanks. I have an idea now
Себе похожий вариант полок тоже сделал. Удобно. 👍👌
Cool design and work..Not to nit pick but is it me or is the table saw blade off 90 deg at 1:24 ? Could also be my parallax but it seemed a bit skewed and shows up in the tenon cuts made as well at 1:49.. As they are sandwiched between the end boards, shouldn't have made a huge difference. Again, very nice work and ignore my nit picking.
Nice vídeo amigo
En üst sırayı neden kullanmadın?
I likec it
I used the wood to hold the wood
👏👏👏👏👏👏👏👏👏👏🇧🇷

Omg is this the first time we've seen your face?!?!
I tried my damnedest to avoid it hahah
OG fans remember the last 30 seconds of the picture frame video
Impressively large nuts
Would love to have all the pro tools: how about a tutorial for folks that don't
I really enjoy plans from woodprix.
I'm sure you can find awesome woodworking plans on woodprix
nice but overkill
Just curious about what is overkill in his design. Too many columns of vertical feet?
@@MixingGBP so many verticals, too many lag bolt and very complex design. don't get me wrong i do like this project but it's not practical for my shop. i will keep looking for a more simple design. i think i like the 1/2" plywood and 2x4 designs the best for this application.
@@scottbrooks2351 I ended up making a 2-shelf conduit rack that spanned 4 wall studs. Nice and simple...and most of the stuff I already had on hand.
