The man, the myth, the sleeping grandmaster, Ben Finegold, is back!
it would be the latter for me
Thanks for the good endgame advice.
raaaaawr
Finegold took his opponents to school. Picked them up at 3PM, he's a nice guy.

Old school too!
"He resigned... And then he changed his name for obvious reasons. "
LOL
Came for the comedy.
Wasn't disappointed.
whaaaaat Finegold is back...very suspicious
i literally came back to this channel yesterday after about a year and i found like no ben lessons since i left, and today this is in my recommended, wow, just wow
New Ben Finegold? Terrible!
Even though he has his own channel now, his lectures on CCSCSL are gold! Keep them coming
Yeah he does have his own channel now, but it is funnier when he is talking to a live audience if feels more real!
I tried to dislike but the computer won't let me, so I guess I like it! we missed you GM Finegold!
Y-stars Disliking is illegal
Did he die yet?
why can't I like this twice? finegold MVP!
Ben, remember to always make the same mistake twice.
3:30
After just minutes into the game, we see how he plays f6. There is absolutely no doubt that he has been tortured or maybe even had a chip placed int his brain during the time he's been gone.
Is he genuine Finegold?
Yay! Finegold finally! Terrible xD
We require more Grandmaster Ben Finegold!
We are... Finegolders!
Not Bobby? Terrible
Mind blowing to me that Ben can make me regularly laugh and smile while watching an opposite colored bishop endgame. Normally I wouldn’t be laughing, because I’d being hanging from the ceiling so I could avoid watching an opposite colored bishop endgame
I've been waiting for this for a whole year! I can now stop the Prozac for a month.
Have to wait so much for your videos. Love them
As Gregory Kaidanov would say, 'How come nobody knows who i am?'
No one around me understands how I'm howling in laughter over a chess clip.
welcome back GM Ben Finegold, hope you do more awesome lectures
YESS! New Ben Finegold lecture, thank you :)
is this real life?
Finally,rotationg GM
At first I don't like you Ben... but after watching several of your videos I changed my mind. You ROCK!
Ben Finegold is back? Very suspicious...
Watching that 8 sec short clip at the beginning is like a sneak peek into the class! :)
remember, like GM Ben Finegold says.... "The more you donate, the more you learn."
Finally,
Welcome back
At 26:55 right after he says "let's see who the tactical genius in the audience is" I think Ne2+ is stronger than the actual move Qg3+ -- 1 Ne2+ Kf2 2 Qh2+ and Black either mates with Ng3 or wins the Queen with a skewer with Qf1+
I came to the same solution and then went looking in the comments for it. I wonder if we missed something, or just found a differnt winning variation. I agree, our solution looks better though.
Ben is back PogChamp
Ben is back!
2:00 Eric Hansen?
Yo you have a similar name to mine. Mine is Markos Macmillan, basically the same.
New video from Ben Finegold!
Welcome back MASTER
Love from france , Ben :) great videos
New Finegold video. Exclam!
You guys should upload more Ben videos
18:54 tell me it doesn't sound like Ben is about to start singing All-Star by Smash Mouth.
more finegold please!
Oh god, its been too long, missed Ben. Made my chess better, but my humor explosive
Long time no videos Ben!
Ben I love ❤️ your videos keep it up bro
26:58
He could also take his queen for his knight:
Se2! ke2 (forced)
Qh2! protecting the knight and giving check.
There are 3 legal moves for white.
1. kf1, simply checkmate by Sf4#
2. Sg2, blocking the check. Followed by Qg2! protected by the knight. The king has to move so next move you take the queen.
3. ke3, then Qg2! with the same idea.
Wow, if you actually take a screen shot at 16:04 you'll notice that there is an icon on desktop called "Amenintarile la sah" first one from left above 2017 US CC_Deskt..., that actually means "Threats in chess" in Romanian. Maybe it was left there by GM Chirila I guess... ?
15:20 Absolutely brilliant!
Please help me! @23:30 Why didnt White play Horse to C2 ?
What program does he use to display the game?
Minute 28 isnt there an even stronger tactic?
Instead of Qg3+ Qxe1 you could play
.... Ne2+ - Kf2 Qh2+ - whatever Qg1+ followed by Qxc5. Is this correct?
The perfect chess teacher doesn't exi......
GM Finegold: His rook is in the corner. He's probably an REM fan.
Me: Is his rook in the spotlight? Is it losing it's religion?
GM Finegold: That's me in the spotlight. Okay, now a few more of you get it
Me: Nooooo...they always do better than me on the game analysis, you could let me have the REM reference?
SOLID!
In the second end game when you were threatening the knight why didn't he play qb1 defending the knight on the back rank without giving up the b3 pawn
Ben's looking good!
I can't wait for the Atlanta chess club hurry up and open the doors Ben!
Is this… a Finegold video? :D
I literally only watch the uploads of Ben, If he isn't apart of the video I am not interested.
#Finegolders
In 32:35 I think instead of 1.Kc5, 1.Be2 traps the bishop. King can just walk to b2 to take it.
my chess dadddy
Yes I did it, class dismissed. Haha your so funny. Seriously though you're pretty funny, good job. I'll continue watching your lectures.
Wow, You mated a 13 year old Polgar? I wonder how old were you and how it felt.
Ridics was it Susan Polgar? because she's hot!!!!
In the second game, after Finegold plays Qe3, why not Qb1?
Keyton Knight new rule always play Qe3! Even when your opponent has a bishop on c5!
Introducing-*Ben Finegold 2.0*
21:17 isn't Qb1 a neat defense for white?
27:15 doesn't Ne2+ win the queen after....Kf2 Qh2+ (Kf1 Ng3#) Ng2 Qg1+
It does. Found this as well and confirmed with computer analysis.
I was expecting that move too.
I saw that too. MrGm Finegold did not comment about it... very suspicious.
Andrew Atkins ben I'm sure saw this variation back when he played this game. he really was a young tiger. today though ... He just missed it I think. Just a matter of preference how you want to win
In the beginning, there was the Word. And the Word was "Terrible!"
Norway got a lot more feisty after the rest day
I have played this Robert Fischer, but he's from Virginia, not Indiana. It's possible before he moved to VA he was in Indiana: www.uschess.org/assets/msa_joomla/MbrDtlMain.php?10251648
I know very little about chess, but this guy is funny!
At 26:56 why not Ne2+ Kf2 Qh2+ then if Kf1 it's Ng3# mate and if Ke3 then Qg1 wins his queen and if Ng2 the Qg1 wins his queen too :/
You can mate with a knight and bishop too but it's really hard
27:25 Ne2+ Kf2 Qh2+ Ng2 Qg1+ wins the queen; although both lead to a won endgame
19:33 White must respond Nf3, stopping Ng5 and Nd4, and preparing to meet ...Nc5 by Nd2. Qb2 deserves a "?".
You played Robert James Fischer????
What's a norm?
Referenced Karpov-Korchnoi game : www.chessgames.com/perl/chessgame?gid=1068236
thanks
This guy's teaching is just fine gold.
Why is it suspicious that Ben is back?
I would have played 3 moves differently in the second game so I decided to check with the engine. One time wrong, twice correct! Happy.
First I thought that h4 was better than Qf2 but apparently Qf2 was the best move.
Next I thought that Qd2 was bad move, as the threat was not real, very easy to refute. I was correct, the engine gives c5 as the best move. The advantage seems to be even less that 1 pawn so maybe even an exclam move. 1:1
Third, I thought that after Qb2+, Nc2 was better move. Engine agrees but not by much, I thought it was much better. At least there it offers some challenge...
YESSSSSSSSSSSS
27:35 1. ... Ne2+ 2. Kf2 Qh2+ 3.Ke3 Qg1+ 4.Kd2 Qxc5 wins the queen.
OOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOMG
what does that Word "Exclam" mean?
Exclamation; an exclamation point is used in chess notation to denote a good move. Finegold uses it sarcastically.
Thnx
Former mussel
hahhahahaahaha
it's a meme in the Mr GM Finegold expanded universe.
there's a video called "Ben Finegold Reviews Fischer vs Finegold but Every Time Ben Makes a Funny Joke it Gets Faster". If you're interested, it's 52:44 long.
Kyril Kavetsky but he makes funny jokes all the time
Killian Defaoite I actually agree, just making fun :)
Never play f3! How they don't know that?
21:30 what about QB1
I assume then black plays QE2 and then white's king is very unsafe
edit : It's actually checkmate in 2 or 3
YES FINEGOLD
Too much nonsense and useless chat...But the endgames he showed were still good and informative!
21:25 the f-free pawn? :D
That was great! Suggestion: do one on rook endgames...
why not knight E2 check mating him? 27:30
Because it's not mate, king f2.
omg 22 seconds in and a new meme already
27:30 Ne2+ Kf2 Qh2+ Ng2 Nf4!
Ke3 Qg1+ loses queen or
Kf1 Ng3#
Ne2+ Kf2 Qh2+ Ng2 Nf4 Ke1 Q*Ng2 with mate coming. He has no time to do anything active
ben's first rule: always repeat ...jokes
more lecture.. about endgame.. 😘
The Lord hath returned! Repeat, the Lord hath returned! >:)
2:06 Losing My Religion
mating is good , 10x Ben
@ 39:20 would white not be better playing b4? It looks to me like its basically wasting the black took on the c-file.
As well as giving his white squared bishop some space
Ahh okay I get me. I guess I would reply bishop B2
Finegold vs. Fischer, very suspicious
