When this story first broke here in Australia, before she was even a suspect, my husband & I both said, "I hope Mike's taking notes. This isn't an accident"😂
I read that she tried to pass off the disturbing drawings on her walls as the work of her children, but an expert examined them and said she drew them. This lady is NUTS.
@@sarahlauer4397 Probably a little smarter at ATTEMPTING to get away with it. Remember, there were 5 invited for that meal. Seems Erin was unravelling by her writings
Every time she wiped those nonexistent tears from her eyes, she actually inspected her own fingers to see if they were wet. What a weird lady. My condolences to her ex-husband and his family for their terrible losses and suffering.
Then looked to see if anyone noticed. My sister would do that shit when she would blame me for stuff and just cry to get out of trouble. I don't claim to be a human lie detector. But because I knew the truth. I would look at her and picked up on these things as "Tells" when a female was crying to throw off a lie or to get sympathy. Guys sometimes do it but it's probably heavily in favour of women due to fathers having physical responses to the sound of their daughters crying. But less often, the sound of their son crying. It's different now but parents used to punish sons for crying and "Showing weakness" so we had to learn other ways to confront Lies. So when a guy is pretending to be upset at an accusation we will get aggressive and often violent instead of crying.(This is especially true if they didn't actually do it) So yeah there is exceptions to this but I have a really good eye for this exact kind of lying technique. And it makes perfect sense she was rich. Could probs cry and get her way. She herself talked about her dad as a being like a "Doormat" and she very likely thought that she was good at lying, rather than her dad was being controlled by parental instinct. Even most women who aren't lying will get pissed off at accusations. Not cry. Only bad liars will go the sooky lah lah route
She shoulda brought a tiny slice of onion in her pocket and been playing with it... Then when she needed to fake some emotion, pinch the corner of both eyes near the nose. Onion juice will go in the eye and bam... Human emotions. Rookie move!
I'd like to add that when someone purchases mushrooms from a store, the mushrooms were NOT foraged from the wild. They are grown in large facilities where they're cultivated in huge quantities, from very specific spores, under close observation! To put it simply, there's no way in hell she purchased Death caps from a store.
Mushrooms are tricky to identify in the wild but you just don't touch them if you're not 100% confident of what they are. If the deathcaps had come from the supermarket I'm not convinced they would have been cooked. You have say a load of chestnut Mushrooms and one looks totally different, you'd throw it away.
I didn’t know that she was a former air traffic controller. That makes me look at her a lot differently. Whether by accident or design, in all the footage I’ve seen of her she seems to be presenting herself as a muddle-headed, confused and emotional woman, not necessarily very bright. I thought she was guilty before, but now I know how smart she is, it makes her seem much more calculating and callous. And the fact that she is an extremely experienced forager, yet insists that she bought the mushrooms from an Asian shop she can’t remember…? Nope, not buying it.
Agree! To me the best evidence against her is her being an experienced forager...you don't have to be that experienced either to know what mushrooms to stay away from. And NOBODY is going to be selling them at their stores. She's a complete wackadoodle!
I've always been told not to eat wild mushrooms unless you are very experienced and absolutely sure. An experienced mushroom hunter is going to recognize a death cap. And I seriously doubt that they came from any store. Especially with her having thrown out her food dehydrator.
@@NotSoNormal1987there's a pretty well known story of a college professor taking his students out foraging to show them how dangerous picking the wrong mushroom is, as some edible species have near lookalike fatal species. They came across one such species and he mistook it for an edible one, and prompt died of liver failure.

I was taught by the victims at school. It was absolutely devastating. I remember when the story broke, and news reporters were harassing everyone in town. All of a sudden we weren't just gateway to prom country, and it's still a raw subject to many. Rest easy Don, Gail and Heather, and may Ian have peace and privacy moving forward. I remember Erin coming into work, still such a shock.

Here in Australia when this story broke and she was on the news the first thing I thought was "ummm there's no tears... won't be long until mike covers this one" lol
As an Aussie, I want to thank you for covering this. It is still such a big developing story, and I am happy that Mike here is giving it the attention it deserves.
This is definitely getting some international attention; I followed it as closely as possible here in the States. My concern is around a jury finding her guilty beyond a reasonable doubt; even with her knowledge and experience, I fear that, without her confession, deadly intent may be difficult to prove in a court of law. For example, once I baked a triple batch of chocolate chip cookies, mistakenly replacing sugar with salt. Worst cookies ever. (I do think she’s guilty; and I hand it to Australia for always seeming to add a bizarre element to such crimes.)
There wasn't one tear coming from her face and she side stepped every time she was asked about the meal she prepared. People are just awful these days, you can't trust anyone!
That and everytime she said they were some of the best people she ever met, she would shake her head. She might be hella smart but her body language was speaking volumes.
These days? People have been people for as long as people have existed. Murder rape theft happen throughout every year every century. Take the good with the good and take the bad with the bad
Sounds like you need to step away from the murder docs for a while. They're giving you an unrealistic outlook on humanity. We are living in the safest period of human history - don't let the news and your own warped tastes fool you.

I used to work as a mycologist, and didn't hear of this. But, checking it out, looks good. The caveat has to be: hasn't been attempted yet, much less in humans. Because the way ananita toxins affect the body, I worry this cure (which blocks the action of a protein) may usually be sought out too late. Yet, if rather have a tool to fight the toxicity than nothing. Study was also only on alpha-amantilin, which is the most deadly of the amatoxins, but, most seem to work in a similar way, and it could workb on all, yet the study was confined to looking for a blocker of alpha-amanitin. Anyway, thanks for the info.
Thanks for this info. I had no idea. I wonder if they treated the man who survived this with it? I do know he was very fortunate because he ended up @ a hospital that kind of specialized in treating poison cases. One other thing...I heard that death cap mushrooms actually turn the liver into mush during the poisoning. I guess that's why that guy had a liver transplant. He was very lucky a good liver was found for him.
Same here... As I have a "bunny boiler" as an ex-wife. I still have trouble with my left arm & shoulder thanks to being assaulted with an aluminum baseball bat for refusing to sign my house over to her and my VW Westy over to her brother. Of course the Ann Arbor Police threatened to arrest me when I reported her crimes, because as a Halfbreed, I "must have done something to cause her to do that". Nope, as Sandy's ex describe a similar attempt to get him to sign over his house to her...
I lived in Leongatha when I was 18. I can’t believe it’s now on the map for the mushroom murders. Absolutely crazy. Thanks for covering the story, Mike!
I grew up there- no one can pronounce it for some reason?! Also- this woman isn’t from leongatha at all- she’s not even from korumburra. She’s a blow in. So I don’t think too many locals are claiming it as leongatha crime. Think she’s only been there a few years. Ps for people wondering it’s not Leongahhhhtha
@@ozzietad666 oooh now that you point it out, that makes sense about her not being a local in town. The (ex) husband is from Korumburra though, yeah? It may just be easier to point out Leongatha on a map than Korumburra. This story is all around bizarre, especially since she had so many attempts to off her ex husband. Poor guy.
The Midsomer Murders comment made me laugh...my husband is obsessed with that show. They actually had a story where someone died painfully from a deathcap mushroom.
I remember that episode - angel of death mushroom or something, the earlier seasons were really good! My only complaint I hear is “it’s too goddam English” lol
As an Australian and an avid That Chapter watcher, I’ve been waiting for you to cover Erin Patterson!! I don’t think anyone here in Australia bought her story for a second 😂
I am Australian. I know plenty of Australians, including myself who say: "Let the courts decide her guilt. " Many of us recall how so many people thought Linda Chamberlain was guilty and said countless cruel things about her. Only to find out later that she was innocent.
Aussie here! So excited to see you cover this story, Mike. I remember early on questioning her story, I just could not believe that you could buy death cap mushrooms at your local Asian grocery store. As if!? I do wonder if she actually went to the hospital though... pretending she had diarrhoea & vomiting 😆 What a psycho... What a horrible way to die, suffering from days of gastro symptoms, then liver and kidney failure ☹️ Those poor victims.
@@ThatChapter I think that you are jumping the gun in this case, as it appears likely that she intentionally poisoned them, but until the prosecution states their case, we don't know. I would guess that it is 80% to 90% likely that it was intentional poisoning, but we just don't know...
They are also one of, maybe (the most) highly poisonous mushroom on the planet. Anyone who is studying mushrooms, will know this famous mushroom, close to their first day of study. We learn *STAY-AWAY* !! It is not only extremely deadly, at very low dose, but by the time you feel symptoms, days later, it's too late to stop it. And we are so careful about this mushroom, not only for the near certain death, but the death that it brings, is most certainly a gruesome, and painful one, as it slowly liquefies its victim's organs, from the inside out. She knew very well what she had. No question about that.

As an Aussie, I knew exactly who this would be talking about by the thumbnail alone 😅 Her face was everywhere and the media did not portray her kindly.
There's a 4-time widow who used to live in my town who is known to be very good at mushroom foraging. Sadly, her first husband died of eating poison mushrooms. Her second husband, a very wealthy and kind man, died of eating poison mushrooms. Her third husband, kind of a fun playboy, also died of eating poison mushrooms. Her fourth husband, a biology professor at a nearby university also tragically died about 5 months after they were married. , He died of a fractured scull. . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . He wouldn't eat the mushrooms.
I have been trying to watch funny videos due to certain life events (always have been interested in these stories) but you have such a pleasant voice and I enjoy watching your channel. You tell them in such a meaningful way with sympathy and truth
Hey Mike, do you think you would ever consider doing an episode about a wrongful conviction that was later exonerated as a true crime story? There are a ton out there and are fascinating and heart wrenching stories. Keep up the good work though!
There's 2 that come to mine. The BLK guy who spent 36 years inside 30 of which was on death row. Execution warrant signed 3 times.. was innocent the whole time. Another BLK dude over 30 years in prison innocent the whole time . Takes a young white university law student to get him set free and cleared. Or that white dude 44 years in prison innocent the whole time. But because of the state he lives in. No compensation for wrongly convicted prisoners. All 3 are American cases.
@@DavidBalfour-il9rl I mean all the ones I know are American but I’m sure every country has done it. But the first one I know about is William Marion convicted of killing his friend Cameron only for Cameron to show up later after his execution All of the cases I’ve seen would be funny if it wasn’t so tragic, some people (prosecutors and cops) can be so blinded by their view of justice that they get the wrong guy

Never munch on a hunch. I haven't watched all the way yet but I can confirm as a mushroom forager that something as serious as a death cap is something we ALL know looks like, and always drill into our heads any time we come across anything edible to check every possible thing about the mushroom just to confirm it with 100% accuracy. A forager absolutely knows what mushroom they've picked.
I disagree. I'm a biologist and forager myself. I know for a fact there are at least 4 separate species of edible mushroom in her area that are identical to death caps. Even advanced foragers can easily mistake one for another. Spore prints won't help you. And of course the ex would accuse her of this, he's her ex and his parents were the victims. I understand his anger completely, but I still don't think she did this on purpose.
@WobblesandBean thats the thing- Even if theres any doubt that it could possibly be death caps no one's going to risk that shit! Unless you can say with absolute certainty what mushroom it is you have, you don't eat it! Either it was intentional, or shes EXCEPTIONALLY foolish
@WobblesandBean so why did she eat it, and not get sick, let alone die??? she did not touch it also, were her previous attempts to kill her husband also accidents???
@@WobblesandBeansorry but you can't mistaken death cap, it has unique characteristics. If I know this, that I'm not a forager, I'm sure any forager does as well. She's very much alive, why didn't she eat with them? I don't buy this at all.
@@WobblesandBeanbeen foraging for years in Victoria, there’s about 3-4 look alikes like you said, however only one of them is ‘edible’, being psychoactive. Hey Mike! Happy Tuesday. I don’t know her, and I’m not all knowing, but I genuinely wouldn’t be surprised if she (like you said) did this to nurse them back to health to be the hero and not to kill them. She had to know that it would easily be traced back to her if they died, right? Her crocodile tears though, my eyes rolled back so far they almost got stuck. Have a good rest of your week all of you fellow that chapter viewers!
You may be right. A little Munchausen to get her ex-husband back but she did attempt to kill him four times. These were some trusting people to eat her cooking after she had tried to kill her husband before he was an ex.
A lot of people were baffled when she wasn’t charged straight away but the police were just just getting all the evidence together. Forensic testing for poisoning can take time. If they charged her to early then the legal clock starts ticking and it all has to be done in certain time frames as all defendants have a right to a “prompt trial”. Thanks Mike from another long time Aussie fan 🇦🇺
Thanks for always covering these stories with the appropriate amount of seriousness while mixing in some levity. Happy birthday Mike - here's hoping your life insurance goes uncashed for many, many more years!
I think I’m regards to determining actual motive, it’s important to determine exactly WHEN her husband backed out of the lunch… If her plan really was to try to win the whole gang back and, say, her husband backed out the night before and she went to forage for mushrooms the following morning, then I’d definitely bet that the “poisoning” plan was a spur of the moment sort of thing… She realized the most important person had no interest in being there, so maybe in a fit of rage, a “win back my family” lunch becomes a “ruin his life” lunch.
She had to have picked them months beforehand as Death Cap mushroom season is in Autumn, and this happened mid Winter. It was calculated, not spur of the moment.
Been watching Mike for years, this is the first time (in my recollection) that he's covered a case an hour's drive from home and an area we know rather well - it's weirdly exciting as if we've been granted a right of passage. Gippsland is actually a very pretty area which produces some excellent cheese. 💕🇦🇺
As a person who's Asian, it really pisses me off to no end that the monster blamed an "Asian supermarket" for stocking death cap mushrooms, even though NO Asian supermarket would EVER make the mistake of foraging, packing, stocking, and selling *death cap* mushrooms! Even in the hypothetical scenario where someone DID pick a death cap, someone ELSE would quickly notice it and discard it immediately. There's a ton of ppl involved in the process of the foraging, packaging, stocking, and selling of mushrooms along with all other produce, and the chances of her finding and picking packaged+labelled death caps from the store shelf of an Asian supermarket is extremely low if not impossible. And on top of that, in recent time, there was a high increase in hate crimes and discrimination against Asian ppl during the pandemic, and singling out a local Asian supermarket with her awful lie had the potential to actually negatively affect if not tank Asian stores' businesses. Thankfully, most ppl saw through her BS and didn't buy her lie, but still....
She didn't say the "bad" mushrooms were from an Asian store exclusively. She also mentioned ones she allegedly bought at a non-Asian store. Regardless, I think she foraged for those mushrooms and didn't buy them.
@@El_Ophelia Ahhhh, my mistake! While it is true that she didn't exclusively blame an Asian supermarket, the lie was still shitty and ppl, if they believed her lie, could've also then make the conclusion that the death cap mushrooms more likely came from the Asian supermarket and the lie still had the potential to cause fearmongering+negatively affect Asian supermarkets in the country. And yeah, it is my belief that she did get the death caps from either foraging them herself, or from a black market (I'm leaning more towards the former)
Foraged around and found out! Love it! I never found Erin to be sincere and had been waiting for her arrest. I feel for the ex-husband and particularly the innocent kids in all of this. Not to mention those who had their lives cut short or forever changed by her callous actions. She seems like a real head case to me. I’m glad the ex husband, Simon is still around for their children. He’s had to go through a lot and a lot more to come. Erin, seems to have a lot of rage inside of her and obvious mother issues. I’ll never be able to visit my parents 20 minutes down the road from Leongatha and drive through there and Koorumburra without thinking of all of them. Whether it be for greed or revenge, it’s just so sad that she had to take it that far.
I think because she picked such an unusual poison, she expected to get away with it-but she DID take some of that toxic meal WITH HER to the Hospital-to make sure SHE got the right treatment! She’s one of our most malicious kind of killer-they had to have suffered terribly before death.

Hi everyone. I was born in Korumburra and went to school in Leongatha. My Brother, Sister and my Grandmother still live in Korumburra. My mum still in the wider area. My poor Grandmother has been beside herself with reporters camped out on her lawn. She lives right by Coal Creek. Her Erins husband was very lucky to survive her murderous rampage. But I’m pretty sure the Prosecutors will have all their ducks in a row for a successful case against Erin.

What a sad, crazy story. She literally picked her poison, knowing she was a forager, she certainly knew about this mushroom. Fake tears were embarrassing - shameful. Condolences to the family for their loss of relatives. As always, Mike did a great job of presenting this and is a great podcaster. Loved your puns at the end of this dreadful story - you always lighten the mood - Thank you
Thank you for covering this! I didn't know much about this and initially thought it was a real accident. I thought she just randomly picked them out of the forest and didn't know better. Now I know she knew how to forage and had foraged before, it actually sounds worse to say she "bought them at a local Asian store". If the store story was true, then it would be easy to find the evidence trail to find the store and to check their sources. There would also be many people impacted, not just her specific lunch party. I also think the store would know better, its kinda racist really. I can't tell one mushroom from another but I'd think the grocery store knows what its doing.
Probably Asian grocery stores label their items better, but I've seen plenty of edible mushrooms mis-labeled in typical grocery stores. Not a big deal of course because it's just things like oysters, lionsmane, and chestnut, nothing poisonous. Luckily she's a terrible terrible actress and a poor planner.
Erin’s comments were that the mushrooms she bought from the Asian store(s) in Mt Waverley had handwritten labels on them. Every Asian store in the area was investigated and none of them sold (or historically sold) mushrooms with hand-written labels on them. She’s never said what type of mushrooms she was trying to buy either. Her stories are full of holes

“She foraged around, and found out”😂😂😂 that was hilarious
Right up there with Mike's classic: "No diggity, no doubt" 😂 👏
I laughed out loud and scared my dogs 🤣 I'm watching this at midnight with everyone else asleep!
Every time she wiped those nonexistent tears from her eyes, she actually inspected her own fingers to see if they were wet. What a weird lady.
My condolences to her ex-husband and his family for their terrible losses and suffering.
That annoyed the mess out of me.
looked ilke she was gouging her own eyes trying to get them to water and look red... haha
Usually, your face turns red with splotchy when you're crying .....ehh not buying it lady
So when a guy is pretending to be upset at an accusation we will get aggressive and often violent instead of crying.(This is especially true if they didn't actually do it)
So yeah there is exceptions to this but I have a really good eye for this exact kind of lying technique.
💯
Ya not possible lol
Mushrooms are tricky to identify in the wild but you just don't touch them if you're not 100% confident of what they are. If the deathcaps had come from the supermarket I'm not convinced they would have been cooked. You have say a load of chestnut Mushrooms and one looks totally different, you'd throw it away.
Where do they grow cupcakes?
@@brianallison1913Now that one really does come from the wild… They grow on evergreen bushes
Yeah, I recon! Great point btw 👏
@@NotSoNormal1987there's a pretty well known story of a college professor taking his students out foraging to show them how dangerous picking the wrong mushroom is, as some edible species have near lookalike fatal species. They came across one such species and he mistook it for an edible one, and prompt died of liver failure.
That's a really good point and I feel the same after learning after worked in ATC, she's WAY smarter than she's presented herself to be.

P.S. I recall Dr Todd Grande had released an informative video about this shortly after it hit news internationally.
Have you watched any of Disturbans' uploads yet? He covers a lot of Australian crimes..

Never munch on a hunch.

You may be right. A little Munchausen to get her ex-husband back but she did attempt to kill him four times. These were some trusting people to eat her cooking after she had tried to kill her husband before he was an ex.
Ooh - kind of like a Munchausens situation!
She was into mycology. She wouldn't have chosen a death cap mushroom if it was a Munchausen by proxy situation.
She obviously wants to kill them. Imagine if one mushroom can kill you, and she used enough to make a meal. There's no doubt she wanted them killed
I think I’m regards to determining actual motive, it’s important to determine exactly WHEN her husband backed out of the lunch… If her plan really was to try to win the whole gang back and, say, her husband backed out the night before and she went to forage for mushrooms the following morning, then I’d definitely bet that the “poisoning” plan was a spur of the moment sort of thing…
She realized the most important person had no interest in being there, so maybe in a fit of rage, a “win back my family” lunch becomes a “ruin his life” lunch.
Don't worry we don't believe her. Not even a little. It was a crappy deflection tactic.
As a Black person I can totally relate to killers blaming us for their crimes. Racists...
Yikes. Take a breath. Hope you recovered from that horrible trauma!!
The ex husband was lucky he said no to the dinner for sure
@@LovelyLass-nb8op He survived her poisoning attempts 4-ish times too, makes me wonder if he pondered he'd only get sick again if he turned up.
Much love and hugs and light to the poor kids. I hope remaining family will be able to provide them some peace. RIP.
"Looks like she foraged around and found out" 🤣 That was a good one.
As someone from the Gippsland Region and that lives very close to where this took place, thank you for covering it. I love your work, keep it up. Love from Regional Victoria, Australia :)
Thank you Mike. RIP to the 3 who passed. I hope they figure this out soon for these people. Stay safe💚🙏🏼🕊️💔
"Mushies Maaatee! a big hearty laugh from this Australian🤣😂
Miiiiike I just ordered my boyfriend some that chapter merch for him for Christmas, I’m so excited to see him open his gifts! You’re awesome, we love watching your content together. You’re so damn funny & you tell these stories so wonderfully. Hope you come back to Boston soon!
Wiping away fake tears is one of the most obvious things a guilty person can do.
Erin took the “til death do us part” and twisted it to fit in her dark and twisty mind. As much terrifying as it is heartbreaking.
My mom stayed SUPER CLOSE to my dad’s parents after they divorced. His parents just really loved my mom and felt like she was one of their kids, till they passed away.
I don't see any tears from her eyes when she talked with news reporters. When someone fakes crying, she becomes instantly suspicious.
Do they not have polygraph machine in Australia?
Happy Birthday Mike! Thanks for being such an interesting, funny creator. We have heard a lot about this case in Australia, it's great that you covered it.
She deserves an oscar for that performance in front of the media 😂, not a single tear
Erm, to receive an Oscar your performance needs to be convincing…
@@sharonm3540 ok ye an emmy then
Yes! So happy you covered this! As a native Aussie from Vic this has been going off like a frog in a sock!!!
Her devastation act, in front of the Red car, was so thin. It was like a scene from a low budget murder/comedy.
G’day, this is my state, Victoria. On a side note, Mushroom sales have dropped dramatically since this happened 😂.Cheers Mike for covering this. Cheers Terri@thelake xxxx 🇦🇺
.
Yeah we do not live in Austrailia and will not eat mushrooms anymore after this cass
Hey I'm a fellow Victorian. With a sister who lived in that area for several years so it's a place i feel quite familiar with and boy howdy if there was a bit of the state that needed to blow off some steam (if you know what I'm sayin'.... 😉)
Edit: it has occurred to me I may be slightly too high.
I am Victorian and my sister did live there for a while but I have no idea with the last bit
That’s very sad for mushroom growers … I still eat mushrooms as I will not let this murderer win 🤷🏼♀️
Mike just gets better and better at presenting ! He was already perfect! How is he getting better!
Mike ❤
I'd love Mike to go back and update us on some of the cases he has covered.
I’m so happy to see your UA-cam channel growing as big as it has Mike! Proud of your success homie. You’re great at what you do:)
Her nonchalantly threatening suicide by driving off a bridge to the reporters in an attempt to get them to stop all questions is just so gross.
She never once did that. At all. She was basically saying that the level of harrassment by the press was enough to "make someone drive off a bridge". You're making it seem like she NONCHALANTLY said "I'm going to drive off a bridge". Like SERIOUSLY. SMH.
Seeing Erin in the news interviews reminds me of when Chris Watts did the news interview; body language is just so telling: the shaking of the head when saying "they were the best people I knew", the fake crying, the looking up at the sky when lying . . .
YUP,… No tears, but she sure keeps checking her wiped hands for the camera 😆
Not one tear, smh.
Agree. Was thinking the same. Zero tears too.
Did you watch the Body Language Panel breakdown of her? If you haven't, you should. They tore her ass up in their breakdown of her. Also, I love those 4 guys about as much as I love Mike. They're the best..really good @ what they do.
@@Corinne-v9c I did see it. While they were careful with their language it was clear where they stood on the case. I tried hard to give her the benefit of the doubt but the more one finds out about her, the more correct they are.
By the way, happy birthday, Mike! This was a really great episode and it’s nice to see you return to the format and standards that made you so popular in the first place!!
How did you know it's his birthday? 😮
Happy birthday Mike from a happy listener in NZ.

Happy birthday from 🇺🇸. 💙💙💙
@@nixcudmore4252 I saw it somewhere else on social media.
Thanks Mike :)
Update from the Daily Mail:
Patterson officially pleaded not guilty to murdering her in-laws and attempting to murder her estranged husband during a hearing before the LaTrobe Valley Magistrates' Court on Tuesday .
The plea means Patterson will now go directly before the Supreme Court of Victoria where a jury will decide her fate. She will face the Supreme Court of Victoria on May 23.
As true blue Aussie thank you for covering this. You always give the best and accurate facts. Thank you.
Except the liver transplant needs fact checking

Mike, this is the first time I've ever used a chat with any of the channels I watch on You Tube. I write to say two things: #1 I highly concur with the viewer who said your channel is the BEST channel on You Tube. I anxiously await every video you create for us and #2 I ADORED your horrible pun " that doesn't leave "mush room" for......horrible yet brilliant! Thank you for all that you do to entertain us and inform us. PS. Wish I had known you were coming to the states. I enjoyed your content while you were on holiday. Next time you're over....drinks are on me!
also mike your cadence and incredible performative passion in your videos is captivating dawg. Always about the facts but still give credence to other theories which is professional as hell when reviewing this kind of stuff. You are a legend and really talented at what you do so thank you and wish you the best brethren
Oh wow, my record was reached today....42 seconds after this dropped, I was listening lol Such a sad case, and she was SO distraught, she ran out of tears during her interview. I love Tuesday just because of your videos! I can't thank you enough for being so consistent all these years. You're awesome and keep doing what you do best! Until Friday, have a great week That Chapter fans and, of course, Mike as well 😊
During the pandemic, I would sit at my computer hitting the refresh button until the video would upload at 3PM ET. I binged watched every single That Chapter video during lockdown.
@@DroneStrike1776 Do you like MrBallen he's pretty good storyteller for binge watching. Different to Mike he's The strange dark and mysterious rather than crime.

As an Aussie who has closely followed this case, you did a great job. Only little bits not mentioned are apparently her 2 children were present at the lunch but did not get sick. Also the lunch was suggested to them by the church who wanted them to reconcile.
Kids were at the cinema
Classic church
She was wiping tears that weren't there ..
How have i never heard of this story before?
As usual Mike finds the best true crime and mushroom stories.
Perhaps we need to forage for you under a rock somewhere? 😉Nah-if it weren't for The Behavior Panel and Sky News Australia (to which I'm subscribed for some reason even though I'm in the US), this would probably be my first exposure to this case. I don't recall hearing much in the American press. Then again, I'm a slave to UA-cam. 🍄
Ha!!! I'm an Aussie and straight away when this story was on the news I said "GUILTY!!!!!"
Im so sorry for Simon moving forward in his life after devastating loss. Bless his children and God please look over them. Amen 😢
Another Aussie here! When this was happening I could already picture you covering it. And your attempts at Australian slang did not disappoint! 😄
Yayyy. We get barely any coverage on Australian cases, thanks for covering this one 🇦🇺 🐨 🤗
Love the "mushroom for doubt" still laughing at that one and gagging a little! Love you Mike! LOL
Erin was a very experienced forager so there is no way that she just made a mistake. It will still be difficult to prove in a court of law. But I’m pretty sure the Prosecutors will have all their ducks in a row for a successful case against Erin.
Why are they camped outside your grandmothers house?
@@fair98fair Her grandmother keeps bringing out ice water and snacks for them. She wants them to go away but doesn't like seeing them being uncomfortable out in the hot sun all day.
@@fair98fair Constantly setting up the ‘Welcome to Korumburra’ sign camera angle that is on the nature strip near her front garden. Not much she can do about it. It is public property. But it doesn’t seem to be dying off. Quite the contrary. Seems to be more and more journalists coming from all over the world.
My mum grew up in the area and it was always drilled into her and her siblings not to eat any mushrooms they found. It's a common known fact in the area
do they have trial by jury down under? if yes, then these dumb jury would set her free...
What a sad, crazy story. She literally picked her poison, knowing she was a forager, she certainly knew about this mushroom. Fake tears were embarrassing - shameful. Condolences to the family for their loss of relatives. As always, Mike did a great job of presenting this and is a great podcaster. Loved your puns at the end of this dreadful story - you always lighten the mood - Thank you

she did a really good job with that interview, one of the best ive ever seen from someone guilty af
It was hugely racist and yes, if she bought them at a store then there would have been deaths all over Melbourne.
Agree! Totally racist diversion!
This lady is loser but racism is a stretch
