- Hooo Wahhhh, Today we’re looking at well-known Counter Strike map! (Now you can stop asking me about it). Bit of a mild jumpscare and strobe lighting warning for this one. Nothing too spooky but if you don’t like creepy babies flying past you, maybe skip this one.

If you're interested in more of Nipper's maps, this video by krazzy is a good watch: ua-cam.com/video/HNWsiSwl8wE/v-deo.html
as an ENA fan the choice of music here was amazing thank you
Great video! One of your best!
hondos action half life maps have more elaborate, and crazier secrets than nippers maps
In the words of 3kliksphilip, Nipper is the David Firth of mapping.
I was going to include that line but it didn't fit well with the script so I cut it out!
in what video did he say that
@@Perc1000 yeah, link?
david firth is da jerry jackson salad fingers guy
what
when Nipper asked me to do the facial capture for the evil baby in blahhh i would've never thought it'd get this far. great video
big baby
thats epic
Happy to see you here
hey ratlobber, you have a great chanel
Wait what are you a Joe dot to guy too
I love the experimentation and downright weirdness of these old early-mid 00's Source/GoldSrc maps.
same
There should be an entire game based around maps and aesthetic like this. Like no joking around, not with any of the modern gimmicks. Just pure old GoldSrc. Some sort of a psychedelic adventure RPG.
@@goldbullet50 that'd be fucking awesome, i wish there was more insane stuff like this on doom as well
this is basically dreamcore/weirdcore before it was even a thing
sven co-op is a motherlode for this kind of stuff
28:48 "Faith No More - Midlife Crisis". I listened to enough Mike Patton in my life to recognize it again.
Abstract and nonsensical Source/Gold Source maps have always interest me. Seeing you cover one of Nipper's more nonsensical maps was expected, but still a treat to see. Personally enjoy when these kinds of maps have some kind of music or sound for each room, it gives them even more of a personality which is helped with the Abstract nature. Personally out of Nipper's abstract maps I enjoy zuhhh the most as while it don't have any music for the most part, I enjoy lot of the room designs of that map. One particular "room" is a back lot of a hotel area with a pool, which with the starry sky box makes it like it's in the middle of space.
incase anyone was curious, the sound effect from the pudding area, ("how can you have any pudding if you don't eat your meat?!?!"), is from Pink Floyd's song Another Brick in The Wall. it plays at the end of the song as its fading out, and its why you can hear a loud drum right in the middle of the sound effect.
Makes sense as Us and Them is playing on loop in the art gallery
I love it when mappers make something that isn't concerned with gameplay and just start using the map as a canvas to do cool and wacky stuff, especially with how most modern shooters have maps that feel so safe and samey
Nowadays with csgo and cs2 its all about CoMpEtItIvE
Man the first few images sure made an interesting first impression ngl
I've always wanted to recreate the aesthetics of odd Source maps like this one
this isn't source, but i get what you're saying. EDIT: just got to the second half, now i get it. sorry about that!
The song from the third eye baby tunnel is "Come With Us" by "The Chemical Brothers", for anyone curious.
Also, "Idioteque" by "Radiohead" plays in the red laser room.
Us and Them plays in The Gallery/Garden as well
@@biygas hell yeah that song is great
Nipper's maps were a gateway for 14 year old me discovering tons of music that I like now up to this very day. Im so very thankful for the good tastes in music being passed down onto me, having spent considerable time meditating in these maps on gmod making stop motion videos.
These maps were my childhood, and I deeply resonate with the creative mapping, interesting sights, and all the work it inspired and was inspired by.
Thank you NIPPER, and thank you Whomobile!!
Fear of Pop, Faith No More, The Hives ooooooo
YES^ i LOVED the "Us and Them" room
i was a bit upset the sky room song never transitioned into "any color you like" and instead just looped
Have similar experience but with css bhop maps
Same!
In case anyone is watching, The Drums are from the Faith No More song "Midlife Crisis" 3:45
Such a good song 🤘
This map has clearly inspired other works, there's this map called gm_trippin that is similar in style. I'm glad to see that this crazy style of mapping is still remembered.
Nipper was one of my favorite map makers as a kid, I'd love joining 1.6 custom map servers to find his maps on them.
you guys probably won't see this but i will always remember my experience with this map, it was like 2013 11pm at a summer night, i didn't have the best pc that time (it was and old crt family pc still windows xp iirc) so i was left with cs 1.6 as my go to fps game, downloaded a map pack that contained like 300 maps and blahhh was one of them, but i didn't get to played it because i mainly use that map pack to play different de_ maps but this one time when the map changed (the map cycles every 30 match iirc) it was changed into blahhh, i was so baked from my 12 year old mind staying up till 11pm and getting to play blahhh; the whole thing was an experience i was so fascinated by the whole aesthetic everything was so weird and my mind couldn't make sense of why a map like that would be in cs 1.6, got scared shitless when i went to the tunnels with the creepy babies and that baby that follows you too.
Using Icosa at the start fit these maps like a glove
Reimu (they dude who told me about the hooo waaaa sound) did try and get in contact with Joel G via an acquaintance for me as well, sadly we didn't hear back in time but the guy he knew guess Joel dosn't know about blahhh.
In turn, I asked Nipper about Ena and he's never seen any of the animations.
@@Whomobile damn
My old 1.6 community's Saturday night fun server event was 90% Nipper maps. 30 y/o boomer nostalgia wave incoming.
Do you remember what the map name was where both teams spawned on separate bases and could pilot planes and helicopters into each other?
It was similar to woohoo cars but not the same, was my favorite map as a kid tho
Lmao yes air_fight2
16:44 I think there's an extra steps to get to the secret room here, you need to let the "scary floating baby" or whatever is his name touch you in the area with the lights.
You can hear it was triggered, but the sound was accelerated.
I found a picture of the space diner on a tumblr blog for obscure source maps, I used it was my desktop background for years
Do you still have it?
@@KRUSH-R nope, hard drive died last year and took that image with it
@@ana-dv7jb got it, thank you for responding
For anyone else who was losing their mind looking for it, the song in the creepy baby relativity room at 5:40 or 24:20 is Love in War by Outkast
The grid room music at 7:50 is probably more recognizable but for those who still dont recognize it it's Idioteque by Radiohead
the song loop in the ear knife painting room in the beginning is midlife crisis by faith no more btw
What’s the song loop in the blue room?
@@loganpaschedag8829 I Paid My Money by Fear of Pop. Happy to help 👍
omg thank you
@@ablooblooblabla9303 No problem
SHOUTOUT TO THE BEST MAP CREATOR EVER
I'm pretty certain the drum loop at 3:48 is "Midlife Crisis" by the band Faith No More. I felt pretty blueballed when Mike Patton didn't start dropping bars after the first couple loops.
the tunnel with the sky textures feels really dreamlike
that first Faith No More loop is great lol
11:00 "come with us" by the chemical brothers (also used in the intro of wrc 2 extreme for the ps2)
this is by far my favorite map youve covered
ive never played it myself but even as presented by the video its so fascinating/captivating, its really special
dude dun played blahhhh instead of blahhh 💀
i absolutely love these series and the aesthetics of these wacky maps. thank you for covering them and for making high quality relaxing content.
Good video of a cool map 😉
At one point I heard a snippet of a Radiohead song in the grid room
1:58 Reminds me of how Turbo was several times copied and "improved".
Nipper is one of my visual inspirations, tbh. zuhhh is my favorite map.
This map gave me anxiety as a kid and seeing it again gives me a weird feeling haha
I remember playing one of those maps in gmod long ago it was one hell of a surreal experience for my kid's brain back then
DUDE, I REMEMBER THE ABSTRACT MAP PACK. SO GOOD, MY GOD.
Thank you for covering this map. I used to play this map as a kid and the angry baby room with the lava scared the hell outta me lol.
These are awesome and calming to watch at 2am in the morning, I wonder how games of these maps would run lol
For a second there it was playing a track from Thomas Newman's Road to Perdition soundtrack. I love that one :)
As a big fan of DaimConneSDK’s custom maps for team fortress 2, it’s sort of surreal getting a glimpse into what seems like clear inspiration for some of my most frequented trade maps back in the day. I really love this style
same, shoutouts to Conne.
I’ve been looking for this for years thank you
Hi. Never played any kind of CS before, but I wanted to say the "Hoo-ah" at 4:40 is (likely) taken from the movie, "Scent of a Woman" starring Al Pacino.
Edit: Oh I paused to type this before finishing the vid. :)
Excellent coverage of one of the greatest maps ever created for CS 1.6 and onwards. I was a player on NIPPER's server back in the early 00s and am deeply connected to his work. I recently made a video covering some of his maps and the spirit of mapping he inspired during those days. If you like this video look up: Counter-Strike's Greatest Level Designer: NIPPER
Cheers!
Found your channel thru Krazzy. Blahhh (and other Nipper maps) was basically my summer 2007
Thank you for uploading, I remember playing this map once and then forgetting the name. It was so weird!
reminds me of the "places from your dreams" (aka dreams_and_nightmares) from gmod, the way how different odd rooms are connected to each other, varying in levels of 'weirdness'. would be pretty cool if you covered that map, but you would probably have to break it into parts, as the map is literally huge and would take around an hour or more to fully explore.
YAY! The Nipper maps!! There’s so many Nipper and Dr Boo maps that I love so much, and I’m so happy you’ve gotten to one of my favs😁
(Edit: my fav of his maps has a submarine you can activate and go down into the ocean like an elevator..I think it’s zuhhh but I might be wrong)
Aw man, the secret is now out. (NVM IT ISN'T, he didn't reveal the cs:go version!! that's so awesome leaving it a secret) I had a ton of fun trying to figure it all out. This shit is iconic, glad you made a video about it
This map contains a fragment of nostalgia for my childhood
love this map, great video!
34:36 i can appreciate the deep cut lemon jelly loop playing here
(at least i'm pretty sure its together by william shatner? even the handful of lemon jelly fans i know weren't aware they produced that track)
the music in the blue laser room is "I Paid My Money" by Ben Folds
In case anyone was wondering
Nipper was amazing. I was young and so amazed by how imaginative everything he did was compared to the vanilla mapss.s.
you did an absolutely fantastic job on this
REALLY jogged some old memories of getting to the secret areas.
Loved the video!
Man this map freaked me out as a teenager 🤣, awesome map with some awesome music , thanks Nipper
That Van Gogh map is amazing...Nipper if you ever read this you are a super creative genious!! keep creating stuff my dude
Great to see a Nipper map on here. Some of my favorites
I tried finding this map again years ago, its so fascinating to explore, love it since
I LOVE THIS MAP! I found it on the gm workshop one day and it was a triiiip.... it was pretty cool
Notice how quickly he is looking away from that certain one picture and avoids having it on the screen like the plague.
I love the plok music you replaced the outkast song in the dance secret! Plok and Tom Follin are great
My personal favorite Nipper map is zuhhh. Kinda hard to distinguish from the other ones if you haven't seen them, but that's my personal favorite.
thanks for keeping me entertained while im making brownies
This was arguably when community video games peaked. There were no rules, and complete nonsense was the norm
great vid, keep up the good work!!
I hate how little exposure these maps will ultimately get. I'm willing to go as far as to say that the tf2 community wouldn't be as big as it currently is were it not for these types of maps, despite being separate games. This particular style essentially shouted to everyone "hey we don't have to just make maps based on obscure European villages, we can go fucking bonkers!". It planted a seed that still effects mapmaking to this day, not to mention conne, who was greatly inspired by this map. You can see the same type of textures and map design in all of Connie's tf2 maps (including the gallery). His maps took the bore from all those shitty tf2 community maps.
nipper is a big legend in the cs 1.6 mapping community
This map makes me feel so nostalgic for other cs go maps, half life multiplayer maps... even if I never played this specific one. I miss that era
these are honestly my favorite kinds of maps because they make playing the game more entertaining to me since you can suck at the game and still have a secret room to find.
I loved playing the source version of this map as a kid. It is still my favorite custom map for cs
I miss these maps so much
I love this style of map
God, this takes me back
honestly those babies are gonna appear in my nightmares im not even joking
I can't believe Nipper predicted CoD Zombies Easter Eggs.
That map introduced me to radiohead through the part of "idioteque" that's playing in one room
There’s this map, on css, it was a zombie map, space station, but it had so many secrets, and sequences to teleport yourself on TOP of the escape shuttle. That was a great map, and most of ZEIN’s zombie maps
What a work of art
what i like about this video is that he doesn't intentionally kills chickens
I was really hoping you would say something about the Cherryclan and its history. it appears in a lot of Nippers maps, but since it was so long ago i doubt its in any way relevant anymore. does nipper still talk to people from cherryclan? maybe its actually still active, and if not when did it disband?
In retrospect thats something I should have asked Nipper about, sadly I was running out of time on this video and needed to get it done before I moved on to other projects
Good Video! :D
I used to spend 90% of my time in CS:S on a prison map playing Guards vs Prisoners. Not sure if that map has been covered, but I always felt like the map was the epitome of great design by a non official. There were tons of secret rooms, many of which were not known of outside of veteran players.
This definitely feels like a meowwolf museum.
Great video once again Mr Mobile!
Thanks!
NIPPER WAS MY CHILDHOOD!!!
Another very comforting map from Nipper
3:40 music loop is the drum loop at the start of the song Midlife Crisis by Faith No More
even watching the video covering this map is like a fever dream
GoldSrc maps have a different aura than Source ones I dunno why.
This isn't shitposting, this is surrealism, and it's fuckin good too.
maybe this is a bit long, way too long, but this is great work. well done
7:54 oh hey one of my favourite song's in this map hooray
Hilarious, i love maps like this that are just the makings of a madman. It really reminds me of the "Fantastic Game" by Fantasticaneer or Mr Fantastic. Just a bunch of random crazy stuff and weird geometry & level design
those secrets are cod zombies levels of incomprehensible
Imagine if every CS map had secrets like this
I like the replacement music that you used, lol
Drum beat at the beginning of the vid is Midlife Crisis by Faith No More
man! your are the best
