My one caveat is safety- i am in a city that is now not as safe as it once was, so being alert (ie hyper vigilant) and not using headphones, looking down reading, etc. Is the compromise for being able to reach to my surroundings. I dont live in a “bad” neighborhood, i just live in a big city that is not what it used to be. Also, for that reason, i have stopped using my luxury handbags. I don’t drive and i dont have the luxury of private cars for “added” safety so i take public transport which means public safety issues.
