Good thought for checking in and having a follow-up conversation. It's great to hear Richard's insight and perspective from the retail side, especially knowing he's a fan of physical media too.
MifuneFan here. Great interview, and I really appreciate the shout-out! I'm really glad to have been a small part of HB's success.. I absolutely love Hamilton Book, and the wonderful community that has been built around it. Richard, your passion and hard work ethic is incredible, and a testament to the growth of HB. You're also a natural on these youtube vids too haha
So nice, especially these days, to see a company headed up by a genuinely good person who actually cares about doing the right thing and treating its clients with the best of intentions and concerns. Long live Hamilton Books and, yes, Heath, I know you don’t like this phrase, but who cares, I’m saying it anyway, LONG LIVE PHYSICAL MEDIA! 😊
I order from Hamilton every couple months. Started way back in 2000 when a friend showed me a catalog for the first time. I always find something groovy and cool on their site. Great interview. Enjoy the day! ✌️❤️😀
One major way they beat Amazon: shipping packaging. Their heavy cardboard is rock solid. I have had so many books and discs damaged by Amazon's (and even B&Ns) skimpy packing; never any shipping damage from Hamilton Books. I willingly pay any small cost premiums for that.
It seems like anytime I’m in a rut ,or reevaluating my life as a physical media collector, an interview with Richard comes along and inspires me again. Thank you both for everything you do, and yes Richard, you should definitely go to the Connecticut horror convention in September!
Love Hamilton Book! They helped me build up quite a collection of boutique label titles on a budget. They frequently offer better deals than the direct boutique label sales. Their unique packaging is legit, and you can tell they really care about their customer base. Great interview with Richard, Heath!
Heath, I love you, man!! Loved this serving of Cereal at Midnight-- Thank you, thank you, thank you for bringing Richard on board again. I love the guy and have been a very happy and enthusiastic supporter of Hamilton Book for over 30 years! They'll have my support until the day I breathe my last!!
I’ve been ordering Blu-rays and DVDs from Hamilton Book for around 5 years. I took for granted the great prices, fast shipping and overall excitement I feel when my package arrives in the mail. As a matter fact, I received an email today that my order was shipped. This talk has given me new appreciation for the hard work and passion that goes into my orders.
He’s talking about Kino when he’s saying not everything needs to be a deluxe collectors edition. They release reasonably priced releases and continue to have deeply discounted sales around the $10 mark. I think they are setup for the best success in the future. Lots of releases and a deep catalog.
Another great interview. Both with this and with your last interview, listening to Mr Hamilton just makes me want to buy more stuff from Hamilton Books.
I have used Hamilton for years. It’s nice to see the owner knows what he is buying and how to get me to buy! Where is the paper catalog for the crapper?? Haven’t seen one in a while!
Just looking at the Hamilton Book site - re Blu-rays - so many i'd love to buy.... but sadly they don't ship overseas :( (Aussie here - and there would be a stack of us who would love to grab a stack from them)
I thank you for above and beyond service. 4.5 days from order date to my front door in ohio. Very fair prices on the scream factory Blu ray releases. Please give up more blue rays whenever you can. We do not want overpriced and lame 4k releases . I will never support severin again after my order has still not shipped after 24 days so I guess that is more money to spend at hamilton.
Thank you, Richard, for someone in the industry finally saying it! For heaven's sake, just give me the movie. I don't need a super duper expanded deluxe edition with every piece of ephemera for every stinker out there. Can I please just have the title for a few bucks, and THEN if I decide I love the thing, I will spurge. Jeesh, it's over the top anymore.
Hi Heath would Hamilton book send to Australia I REALY loved the interview what a gentleman hard to find people with such integrity Please let me know as I am a huge physical collector Cheers Paul G Geelong Australia
That's a question for Hamilton Book, but I think I can confidently say that international shipping is too expensive to justify with their smaller, "mom and pop" business approach. Rich is all about finding deals and passing that on to the customers, which he wouldn't be able to do when shipping is $20, $30, or even more expensive than that.
I totally agree about missing the standard (even bare-bones) editions. I see a lot of these Arrow Kung Fu releases and think I’d like to have it, but don’t need to spend the same money I would on an ultra-packed Citizen Kane.
To Hamilton Books: If you can find 6mm UltraHD cases or BLACK 6mm Blu-ray cases, you can make some money of me, as well as lots of other physical media collectors who put their collection in slim cases to save shelf space.
As a minimalist collector that doesn't need/want big fragile box sets etc this is a bit conserning issue. I would gladly just pay 10$ for a 4K disc that comes in a clear thin CD case or something similar. I'm done with packaging, just want the movie and own it
I had to pause the video when you said there are people spending $1,000 per month on movies. I suppose they are like car collectors that never drive many of the cars they own or musicians who do not play the guitars they collect. I'm afraid it is a mentality that is lost on me. But the difference with the car collectors and musicians is they CAN eventually play or drive what they have. When you own thousands of movies you CANNOT EVER watch them all. One could argue that is pathological. In fact , one could say it is the opposite of minimalism.
How can you not root for this guy? Hamilton for the win!
What a class act! Thank you Heath for this post!

You yourself do great work on that forum.
Good to hear from you, MifuneFan! Rich is TOTALLY a natural on camera.

First discovered Hamilton Books for 3D blurays. An indispensable resource for BD discs. Long may they reign!

Oh my gosh, I remember getting my mom to mail in a check and totally expecting not to get anything back. I still have those books in my collection ❤❤
Hamilton has great deals and prices on books, DVD, etc.

Very interesting chat, gents! A nice way to start off the week!

I’ve shopped at Hamilton Book only once before. This video won me over. I will be shopping there more often.
I haven’t ordered from Hamilton since the catalogues stop coming to my house, but I just looked at the blu ray catalogue and am saving the page.
Another great interview. Both with this and with your last interview, listening to Mr Hamilton just makes me want to buy more stuff from Hamilton Books.
Great conversation with a great guy! Never heard of Hamilton Book, but now i know. Greetings from Sweden!!
Love Richard and his business! Very sweet and knowledgeable guy who appreciates media fandom as he is also one of us. One of us! One of us!
I totally thought Hamilton Book was a used product seller. I definitely have to check them out now.
Hey, would those spatulas at Walmart come with slipcovers? 😂
I placed what was about my 20th order over the last 4 or 5 years as I watched this . Heath you just keep doing the best industry interviews
Thanks for that huge compliment. I appreciate it.
Funnily enough berserk 97 is available from discotek atm so we're good
Thanks Hamilton book for being a wonderful company and a huge fan of you.

love the way they package movies btw!!
Just purchased from them today. They always have prices you can't beat.

I get paid Friday. I think it's time for another Hamilton order.
Great interview, wish he would ship to Canada as it's a place I'd love to buy from (but I understand the logistics that make it harder to do that).
Great video Heath!

second this! I don't really care about slipcovers or art card or steel books etc. I just want the films goddammiit!
Interesting hearing the inside info. I just placed a Hamilton Book order last week. Always solid.
Hamilton Books rocks, and GoldenWheels is a cool, helpful dude. Great interview.

No joke, I thought that was Tim Cook on the thumbnail.

If I can suggest Discotek, I know they need more distribution
Mom and pop business.
I'm 66
Mfer I'm doing the same 41:27
Blu rays suck.
About to go place an order right now 🫡
