Absolutely brilliant coverage Brown Car Guy. Having been in the CONvoy, in response to your questions, I felt it was really important to be there, I can see what’s coming, if Khan gets away with it in London, it will spread like a disease across the UK, with so many towns and cities having their own charging zones to profit from the motorist, with it not being about clean air. It will be impossible to move freely and without being caught out by some fine when you’ve missed poor signage with no information of there being a charge to pay or an emission standard to meet. The moving protest was great for awareness, getting the message out to people who wouldn’t take any notice of a protest in central London or would avoid it. We took the message to them. The support along the route was amazing, with so many people videoing, photographing and taking notice of us! Drivers honking in support, shouting out and cheering us on made for a brilliant atmosphere. Thanks to Keith who put such a huge effort into coordinating and organising the CONvoy and to everyone else involved!

You're more than welcome on me coming, it just felt like the right thing to do. Although my Focus is ULEZ Compliant, it will be affected if they bring in pay per mile. I was there for my close family, and my mother whose 1999 Audi Cabriolet is not ULEZ compliant. We live half a mile inside the proposed new zone and it feels so wrong that she will be charged 12.50 to use her car. But then again, TFL can't keep their vehicle records in order, we got another MK1 Ford Focus as our family car, but a diesel version. TFL are saying its ULEZ Compliant when it is Euro 2 and Euro 6 is the minimum for Diesels. Says it all really. They haven't got a clue themself. We have driven it into the zone multiple times but they never have corrected it which is good, but also laughable

People who have cars with identical engines, but one is in a vehicle prior to euro classification and one is after makes no sense at all when they are purely do it on age. And some of the small low tax band cars, that end up being non compliant, but a V8 Range Rover for example is fine! Look out for if there is another one, which might be on a weekend.

While ULEZ exists anywhere in London, they will try and expand it. It needs removing from the whole of London. I live in Catford, and I am 500 meters from the boundary of the Sth Circular, we border Bromley, and there is no way it should expand as far as where I live, which means the going out to the south and north circular roads was an easy boundary to use and has nothing to do with clean air. I predicted the next boundary would be the M25, and they will slowly make bigger and bigger boundary's. ULEZ needs to go full stop, and it means where it is now. If they keep it anywhere, that is where the congestion charge is. We all know the congestion charge is a glorified tax to raise revenue. Otherwise, all the traffic causing measures would not have been installed over the last 20 years like all the extra unnecessary traffic light and the constant changing of junctions from three lanes to two lanes, the widening of pavements, more and more bus lanes, now expanding cycle lanes. The amount of road space taken off the motorist and they wonder why there is so much congestion, but 70% of the congestion has been manufactured over the last 20 years by councils and TFL.
I publicised it across all my channels, but the main thing to do is join the Action Against ULEZ Facebook pages (there's two main pages and many other regional pages)
They could choose other ways to cut down the number of cars and pollution without penalising the less well off. I suppose this method raises money for Khan though. Note that your ULEZ friendly car now won't be in a year or two as they'll constantly raise the bar.

I think all road charging is wrong because it's already paid for in the road fund licence, and it must have an adverse effect on businesses and the cost of living.
Hey BrownCarGuy, great video, I was in the convoy in the motorhome, I think it was well worth the effort, the amount of exposure travelling towards Trafalgar Square was awesome, we tooted all the way and as we were travelling slow loads of people took notice and read the signs. My vans messages highlight the ‘Greed not Green’, ‘we’re right and left’, ‘this will impact the poorest in our communities’ points and these messages need to get out. So many people saw them that would not have if we were in a static demo. I took the van to the last TS demo and they are great but I do think the convoy gets the message to more people who wouldn’t necessarily see them. I think your idea of having a car meet demo is also a great idea but I think, if for example it was in TS , those coming from north, south, east or west London should travel in convoy together then all meet up, actually I think we should have loads of mini convoy meets at specific junctions that need their new ulez cameras liberated! Brilliant coverage and thanks for posting. The Bromley Pageant of Motoring is on Sunday 11th June at Norman Park. It will probably be the last time we will see modern classics under 40 years old on display at the event if this ULEZ goes ahead on the 29th August but I hope I am wrong. Great convey and video, I so hope something great comes out of it.. Love coming to London. Sadly in 2004 I was living in Kingsbury NW10 And at the time the congestion charge (central London) was £5 a day.. My income as a courier was so poor I felt a quarter of my outgoings and low wage it was pointless working yet I loved courier work. As It happened My Landlady was selling the property I had to move, so I chose a quiet suburb in Peacehaven East Sussex I rented a studio for half my wage... But as years have gone I moved in 2005 to south Wales near Cardiff. Then ULEZ came in and I don't understand how the ULEZ expansion is working..? Is there going to be 3 levels of Congestion Ulez 1 and Ulez 2 if it happens.. £12.50 is daily rate.. but If I stay in a hotel or some overnight place that means £25.00 but i most likely would enter London at 6pm and leave London 6.00 am the next day.. I feel it really rips me off. I have to vacate London at 10.45 pm and out. I have two petrol cars ULEZ free and two Diesel vehicles. Id have to buy a much newer van Euro 6 I find it worth coming into London no more.. Does the Mayor of London really want a ghost town. What about the thousands of taxi drivers private hire companies and many chauffeur plc not for forgetting the many thousands of courier drivers to name just a few transport companies. The other thing I feel I need to mention, the whole of the UK is going down to 20mph,great if automatic, but manual motor like you mentioned is leg function gear change more fuel cost and pretty much many other factors. And 30 mph on short town centre dual carriage ways.. Its bad enough trying to drive on M25 at 40MPH..
You might find this page useful browncarguy.com/2023/05/04/ulez-everything-you-need-to-know/ I'll add that ULEZ is 24hrs all year around apart from Christmas Day. ULEZ currently covers all of central and inner London up to, but not including the North and South Circular roads. If it extends as planned on 29th August, it will cover the entire Greater London areas, in some cases that will mean it reach up to the M25 (but not including the M25). ULEZ will be a single zone, and if your car is compliant or you pay the £12.50, you will be able to drive anywhere within the ULEZ zone, there are no tiers. Most of London is now 20mph, and that's extending to most areas in Greater London. The ANPR cameras being installed for the ULEZ extension will also become part of the network that monitors ALL cars when pay-per-mile comes in, which is what Mayor Sadiq Khan is planning to do next. Hope this info makes things a little clearer.

If there is a prohibitive charge to simply drive from your own home, even if you stay within your own borough, then this is a violation of your human rights.

Very well done to everyone that took part in this convoy, it sends out a clear message to Kahn and the government in particular that they have gone too far with trying to expand ULEZ and the pay per mile thing way too far. What we are talking about here is the need and freedom to travel at will. Lots of folk have to work long distances from home, quite often forced upon them, others are dependant on their own transport for family reasons. Lets be straight about all this, its not about saving the planet or even reducing traffic congestion, its about Khan wringing more money out of people.....simple as that.
@@mikecartlidge5355 Driving isn't a freedom, its a privilege. It is also highly monitored and regulated. Cars kill people everyday by crashing and polluting, no need to encourage it further anymore. A modal shift in transportation is required where most journeys can be made simply by walking and biking, longer distances by buses and metro or whatever. Doing that will actually alleviate the car traffic from roads instead of forcing everyone to drive everywhere.

It needs removing from the whole of London. I live in Catford, and I am 500 meters from the boundary of the Sth Circular, we border Bromley, and there is no way it should expand as far as where I live, which means the going out to the south and north circular roads was an easy boundary to use and has nothing to do with clean air. I predicted the next boundary would be the M25, and they will slowly make bigger and bigger boundary's. ULEZ needs to go full stop, and it means where it is now. If they keep it anywhere, that is where the congestion charge is. We all know the congestion charge is a glorified tax to raise revenue. Otherwise, all the traffic causing measures would not have been installed over the last 20 years like all the extra unnecessary traffic light and the constant changing of junctions from three lanes to two lanes, the widening of pavements, more and more bus lanes, now expanding cycle lanes. The amount of road space taken off the motorist and they wonder why there is so much congestion, but 70% of the congestion has been manufactured over the last 20 years by councils and TFL.

They could choose other ways to cut down the number of cars and pollution without penalising the less well off. I suppose this method raises money for Khan though. Note that your ULEZ friendly car now won't be in a year or two as they'll constantly raise the bar.

I think all road charging is wrong because it's already paid for in the road fund licence, and it must have an adverse effect on businesses and the cost of living.
Hey BrownCarGuy, great video, I was in the convoy in the motorhome, I think it was well worth the effort, the amount of exposure travelling towards Trafalgar Square was awesome, we tooted all the way and as we were travelling slow loads of people took notice and read the signs. My vans messages highlight the ‘Greed not Green’, ‘we’re right and left’, ‘this will impact the poorest in our communities’ points and these messages need to get out. So many people saw them that would not have if we were in a static demo. I took the van to the last TS demo and they are great but I do think the convoy gets the message to more people who wouldn’t necessarily see them. I think your idea of having a car meet demo is also a great idea but I think, if for example it was in TS , those coming from north, south, east or west London should travel in convoy together then all meet up, actually I think we should have loads of mini convoy meets at specific junctions that need their new ulez cameras liberated!

It will probably be the last time we will see modern classics under 40 years old on display at the event if this ULEZ goes ahead on the 29th August but I hope I am wrong. Sadly in 2004 I was living in Kingsbury NW10 And at the time the congestion charge (central London) was £5 a day..
My income as a courier was so poor I felt a quarter of my outgoings and low wage it was pointless working yet I loved courier work.
As It happened My Landlady was selling the property I had to move, so I chose a quiet suburb in Peacehaven East Sussex I rented a studio for half my wage...
But as years have gone I moved in 2005 to south Wales near Cardiff.
Then ULEZ came in and I don't understand how the ULEZ expansion is working..?
Is there going to be 3 levels of Congestion Ulez 1 and Ulez 2 if it happens.. £12.50 is daily rate.. but If I stay in a hotel or some overnight place that means £25.00 but i most likely would enter London at 6pm and leave London 6.00 am the next day.. I feel it really rips me off. I have to vacate London at 10.45 pm and out.
I have two petrol cars ULEZ free and two Diesel vehicles. Id have to buy a much newer van Euro 6 I find it worth coming into London no more..

What about the thousands of taxi drivers private hire companies and many chauffeur plc not for forgetting the many thousands of courier drivers to name just a few transport companies.
The other thing I feel I need to mention, the whole of the UK is going down to 20mph,great if automatic, but manual motor like you mentioned is leg function gear change more fuel cost and pretty much many other factors. And 30 mph on short town centre dual carriage ways.. Its bad enough trying to drive on M25 at 40MPH..

I'll add that ULEZ is 24hrs all year around apart from Christmas Day. ULEZ currently covers all of central and inner London up to, but not including the North and South Circular roads. If it extends as planned on 29th August, it will cover the entire Greater London areas, in some cases that will mean it reach up to the M25 (but not including the M25). ULEZ will be a single zone, and if your car is compliant or you pay the £12.50, you will be able to drive anywhere within the ULEZ zone, there are no tiers.
Most of London is now 20mph, and that's extending to most areas in Greater London. The ANPR cameras being installed for the ULEZ extension will also become part of the network that monitors ALL cars when pay-per-mile comes in, which is what Mayor Sadiq Khan is planning to do next.
Hope this info makes things a little clearer.

Very well done to everyone that took part in this convoy, it sends out a clear message to Kahn and the government in particular that they have gone too far with trying to expand ULEZ and the pay per mile thing way too far. I live in the North East of England and I guess like many others watching how you guys do as this kind of government / Council madness will spread to the many other cities unless it is nipped in the bud by the people.
It only sends out the message that we need less cars.
@@catlerbatty yes there are a lot of cars on the road and they match the rise of the population of this country. I have never owned a car in my life but have been a biker for 52 years. What we are talking about here is the need and freedom to travel at will. Lots of folk have to work long distances from home, quite often forced upon them, others are dependant on their own transport for family reasons. Lets be straight about all this, its not about saving the planet or even reducing traffic congestion, its about Khan wringing more money out of people.....simple as that.
@@mikecartlidge5355 Driving isn't a freedom, its a privilege. It is also highly monitored and regulated. Cars kill people everyday by crashing and polluting, no need to encourage it further anymore. A modal shift in transportation is required where most journeys can be made simply by walking and biking, longer distances by buses and metro or whatever. Doing that will actually alleviate the car traffic from roads instead of forcing everyone to drive everywhere.

@@BrownCarGuy I presume one tweak has only a small impact, but many such tweaks would eventually/hopefully have a beneficial effect on air quality and climate benefits. Just a little bit towards a very big problem.

Why I don't drive manual..
I love driving manuals! But I tend not to usually do it for six-hours straight in traffic, mostly at 5mph - LOOOOL!
Horses for courses, autos for town, manual for open roads.
My car is ULEZ compliant so I can drive through London for nothing, yet I can rev my engine at traffic lights standing still.
The problem is, you disrupt all the taxi drivers and delivery drivers in London, ruining their day, while Khan barely notices the protest.
They should sit there revving their engines ...
