- Some general ringing on the light 8 at Rochford. The trebles are extremely difficult to ring due to their small wheels and the ringing concluded with some staggered standing.
Tenor : 4cwt - 0qr - 9lb in D
Fantastic little bells these!
I would not go that far. The treble is not in tune with the tenor!
Nice bells
These are quite nice!
They sound a lot like Avebury in Wilshire. About a similar weight and the same note. Does the treble have a stay seeing as it's so light? The smaller bells take a lot of practise to ring but, this is quite good compared to when I rang on a treble of this size!
Yes the treble does have a stay, and the front two also have very small wheels even for their size which adds to the difficulty. When they were first hung, they were so difficult to ring that Taylor’s were called out again to try and fix the problem. When they arrived, they too agreed that the bells were almost impossible to ring even though they had only just been hung. To fix this they cut chunks out of each side of both the stays and sliders for all bells which only made a small difference.
@@theobellringer6211 best bet in a situation like this would be to have larger wheels, even if 'too big' for bells these size. That's what they did for the bells at Bitterne Park in Southampton as they also are very small (12, tenor of 8cwt - the front ones are very small) and they ring perfectly
@@theobellringer6211 a nice taylor ring hohoho
Theo, someone stole my profile picture and it's copyrighted.
What do you want me to do with that information?
@@theobellringer6211 just because I wanted to tell you that this happened.
