- Mantan Moreland and F. E. Miller are down at the heels, that is until a craps shoot wins Mantan a gambling casino. Too bad it's haunted by a family of prudish ghosts. The sequel to "Mr. Washington Goes to Town."

Hilarious!!!! The fight scene of Mantan and the ghost brought tears of laughter. Look forward to more of Mantan Moreland
some great Real physical comedy. Mantan could really shake it.
@@jorgegonzalez-larramendi5491 .
He was great in Charlie Chan movies, too. 🙂
Beautiful movie!!! They don't make movies anymore.
Good, clean, fun!!
Mr Mantan was the best ... loved him in the zombie film where they crash landed on a zombie filled island! He was the star even in supporting roles imo ! Salute
that's my Next !!! : )
Florence O'brien is brilliant and gorgeous thank you for the upload 😍🏴
I am a white man, I enjoy great comedy, regardless of the race of the actors. Laughter is the best medicine. Thank you for posting. I love Maintain Moreland. He is a first class actor along with another black actor Ben Carter. Willie Best was also a fabulous black actor. They both have given me some great humor during my time on this earth.
and Plus very american cultural. baby that band !!
I wear woman’s panties
See Willie Best in “The Ghost Breakers” with Hope if you haven’t, but my guess is you have! 😎👍
This is the year I was born I am 77 years old they are all gone God bless this black actors Mantan was around in the Charlie chan Days

Lmao I sure needed this comedy film so much talent.
Thanks 4 posting
Mantan is awesome love watching him
This is one of my fav movies. It's way before its time even by today standards. Pay Attention to the various characters played by these actors of the time. They are very dynamic.
Love me some Mr. Mantan! Him and Jimmy Chan were the original Scooby-Doo and Shaggy. He was as big a part of my great love for Charlie Chan movies as Sidney Toler. I once asked a black friend of mine if actors like Mantan or Steppin Fetchit were offensive. He said, "those guys were some of the most successful black entertainers in Hollywood. They did it in a time that it wasn't easy for a black man to capture the heart of America. I love to see a black man succeed, so no it's not offensive."
I remember Manlan Morelon when I was growing up he's really funny & I enjoy watching your films.
Mantan was a very funny actor. He really shines in the Charlie Chan films. Besides being funny, he had a wonderful and warm personality. It's impossible not to like and appreciate him.
I love the black black and white movies
I happily recommend anything featuring Mantan. England, July, 2023.
The writing and acting is superb 👏🏽👌🏽
Womerns panties is very comfortable
Ain't nobody gonna get fresh with my gal!! Love the slang of that era!!
Easily one of Mantan Moreland's best performances. He is a master of comedy.
A recently came across your UA-cam channel & it has truly been a blessing. How did I not know these movies existed?!? Yet another piece of our history hidden from us. I must have watched 8 movies in the last week & this is one of my favorites.
Thank you for sharing✊🏾❤🙏🏾
You need to blame your parents on that one. How is it society’s responsibility to teach you about your own culture or the fault of anyone else for you not being shown this film? You learn about what you interested in and to be interested it takes some investigation and that’s again up to you. Instead of blaming anything or anyone for you own lack of self enlightenment why don’t you do the research?
@@botulismcasserole9832 you are about as much fun as a botulism casserole.
"Pick up them dice.....PICK UP THEM DICE"...😂😂😂😂😂
Wow REELBLACK , I would love to see Mr Washington goes to town

Man I wish there was a way for them to restore the picture quality.
Mantan Moreland is one of my favorite black male actors, I also like KINGFISH and ANDREW H. BROWN in the Amos and Andy show.
Great comedy. Ive only seen a very few all black cast movies.
These are great quick escapes from some of the current stressors we're going through.
I also find comfort amd solace reading the Psalms or writings of Paul and Chist

thank you so much, i really enjoyed this movie.....
well done production & all blk casting😆
looks better than anything MGM did
Rochester is the best comedian ever.He always makes me laugh. So much talent.
He was great, but that was Eddie Anderson. This is Mantan Moreland, who is also amazing. He was in many comedy films, especially with Frankie Darrow, & was the chauffeur in all of the Charlie Chan films.
Birmingham Brown
The original Joe Torri
Yeah.......but that's NOT ROCHESTER!
1942.. Fantastic - Black Folk's Dressed to da 9's.. Having Fun..
With A Cautionary Tale..
In Swahili..
ya ajabu..
Both "The Hostess" and "Jeff" were in "Stormy Weather" The guy that played Gabe's cousin in "Stormy Weather" also played "Lightening" on Amos and Andy If I'm not mistaken. 😉
The Miller and Mantan film appearances are the closest we can come to seeing Miller and Lyles-Moreland essentially replaced the late Aubrey Lyles.
Miller and Lyles made a few films that still exist, but they are very hard to find.
I like how they just started the dice game anywhere
great soundtrack ! love the film - thanks for the culture and smiles.
i kinda hoped for the guys to keep some of the money, the young lady and the car... but such are dreams.
The onscreen credits incorrectly spell actor and newspaper columnist Harry Levette's name "Lavette." Actor Vernon McCalla's surname is misspelled "McCella." The Motion Picture Herald review notes that this film was the second of seven films planned for production by Jed Buell. Lucky Ghost was originally titled Lady Luck. Material contained in the MPAA/PCA (Motion Picture Association of America/Production Code Administration) Collection at the AMPAS (Academy of Motion Pictures Arts and Sciences) Library indicates that the film underwent a title change in late 1941 or early 1942. The reason for the change in title is not noted in the records.
Interesting. Thank you.
It is refreshing to see a bunch of people from my community (Africa Americans) not cussing, especially about every sentence that's spoken!!! Black people today, around 90 percent of us, have to say a f-bomb or the like almost every time they open their mouths! It is so sick!
I love Mantan in the " Charlie Chan " movies! ❤
Florence o brien still alive at 107 years old!

--The sayings of Mantan Moreland
1. Never let a ghost catch you.
2. Avoid death, ghosts always be there.
3. Dead people and live people should not mix.
4. Ghost think they good lookin, never stay to find out.
5. I am mentioned in the credits but the ghost got the dough.
6. Cemeteries, funeral parlors, morgues, do not need you while alive.
7. Never let Mr. Chan send you in a dark room by yourself.
8. If the Dark get noisey, seek Light at once.
9. Few people know my whole name nor if the name that they call me is real.
10. Wait until the shooting stops then wait for witnesses, leave as soon as it is safe.
11. I am a chauffeur when you see me but that is only in the movies.
12. I am never really laughing except off camera.
13. I made a lot of money and made people happy, it was a job I accepted rather than preach or steal.

Really funny. Good special effects. Movie teaches you a lesson.
My mother said that when she was a kid that they had a lot of all black movie's for the blacks to watch during the segregation era!
That's true, up until about the 50s. That tradition was revived during the blaxploitation era. My parents grew up in the 40s and remembered the earlier generation of black films, and BET showed them as "Black Classics" in the 80s.
'Cabin in the Sky', a true classic regardless of race.
There were one or two movie theaters in the (all) black section of town that played black movies.
the light skin woman reminds me of my great grandma
Mantan made the movies he acted in better. But they knew that. Thats why he is in alot of them.
It's unlikely this movie is still under copyright.
Great and funny movie. I highly recommend giving it a try. 👍👍👍
Fell in love e with him with Ethel waters cabin in the sky
I love those movies 😁as a child “❤️👍🙏
This film had me laughing from start to finish 🤣🤣🤣

Hi, I'm a writer wondering if I can send you a direct email about a specific archive? Thanks for your work and let me know if that's possible.

That's burmanham. From the Charlie Chan movies.
In order to understand “Lucky Ghost”, you got to watch “Mr. Washington Goes to Town” first. Lucky Ghost is the continuation.

Great movie
Not much funnier than this.. Love it had to buy it.
The hostess reminds me of an old timey cartoon character the way she moves her head around...finna give me second hand whiplash she slanging her damn neck around so hard...
Some fine sisters in this film!!
kid long time ago, this was so much fun. save it.
It is said that in the 1950s, Moreland's characterizations were considered demeaning to the African-American community. But, much of his work in movies and vaudeville was aimed at African-American audiences. Although the main character is played by a white man made up to look like an Asian-American detective, Moreland’s performances in the Charlie Chan movies are undeniably funny. Mantan Moreland should be remembered as a great African American comedian with a long and fascinating career.
Nice
I was half expecting that this had been produced by Spencer Williams. Apparently they never worked together.
Mr Washington Delaware Jones lol
He was the best
They're like a black Albert and Castillo.

You ol skin flint
If you didn't tell me it was all black cast I might have watched it.
Pic-up-dem-dice !!
45:35-45:45 LoL!!!
😂🤣😂🥰
Is the dude in the grave yard doing vlack face? I'm confused. During this time, segregation was rampant, so there were black theatres and white theatres, right? So why was there black actors and actresses working alongside supporting blackface? Wouldn't the law keep black ppl from even acting together in the same movie? I was wondering the same thing in the movie 'I passed for White'. The main girl was white but she played close and even touched a black woman. Was it different for celebrities in the entertainment industry?
No, everyone in this film is black.
That's a trip,I just finished watching the movie " I passed for White "

The hostess reminds me of vp Kamala Harris.
I thought this was an all black cast, but the hat check girl seems to be a blonde.
This dialogue is worse than Kngfish N Andy.
