Matt Hindla, thanks for watching! I am sorry I didn't see your comment for such a long time. I don't think there is a problem with sitting close to the incense, but like anything else, just don't overdo it!
The difference of the sticks of the traditional line and nature and tradition like nokiba is only that one have natural color pigments to distinguish the sticks and the nature line has not. The scent is the same. Also the ingredients
hi, nice video with the music i was just going to ask what it was and you said it at the end. I have both incense you described in 2 and 3 position. the fenugreek one i tried for the first time yesterday and i loved it. has an old time smell to it as they say. i had to order it from the states as its not avail here. and the last one is nice too the kai un koh.
I have recently gotten in to Japanese incense, the Shoyeido daily line in particular. I am especially enjoying Nokiba, Kinkaku and Haku-Un. As expected, the scents are very light and beg to be "listened to" carefully. In my previous explorations of typically Indian incense, I was able to enjoy them from across the room. However, with Shoyeido I have found myself sitting very close to the incense, maybe only a few feet away (like you in your videos). Is this common or recommended?
@TheScentsei Thanks for watching! I haven't tried Heian Koh, but it sounds very good! The Shoyeido incense that I got at Sojiji is called Hyaku Nen no Kaori or 百年のかほり. I can't find anything on line about it. Based on the color and the price, I think it might be close to Ohjya-koh, although I don't have that one, so I can't make a direct comparison.
@TheScentsei Yes, I looked at the temple site and didn't find anything for sale. The incense is somewhat close to Sei-fu. I haven't tried either Ohja-Koh or Kyo-jiman. Sei-Fu seems a bit 'trickier,' creating an agarwood impression with other ingredients. The Hyakunen seems a bit more natural--does it actually have more agarwood? I really can't say, they are so close I can't say which is higher or lower.
Wonderful videos. I would love to see even more. I did find the first 3 online but as you said the last one I cant find. Its nice to see that these companies that make some of the premium incenses also make an affordable everyday line as well. I now have several orders on the way. Cant wait to try these. Thank you.
