Welllllll they just authorized a strike on video games
@@QberryShortcake Yeah I saw something about that this morning or last night. not sure which.
Not sure what the demands are this time. Last time I more stumbled into an explanation of stuff because I follow Jennifer Hale and I also picked up an interview with Will Wheaton.
I think the weirdest thing they said was that companies were trying to force voice actors into some kind of mandated "you must apply for all jobs" kind of thing or "you must take the job if we ask for you." Which sounded ridiculous to me. I mean, even the lowliest janitor can decide what company he wants to work for or if he wants to work at all.
Didn't pay much attention to the strike at the time beyond that it was happening. Guess we'll see what happens this time.
@@jenniferhanses biggest demands are updating compensation rates, which haven't kept up with inflation, and regulating AI usage within the industry, so that studios don't backfill lines with AI, rather than hiring them to come back in. The negotiations previously negotiated for also need to be re-authorized.
Strike _authorization_ doesn't yet mean _on strike_, notably. But they're prepping to do so the second anything goes wrong.
@@QberryShortcake Yeah. And they do definitely need to hammer out an AI policy.
@@jenniferhanses From a dev perspective: a lot of us would rather just not use AI at all. Leadership on the other hand....
"Well- not many corpses have your vigor."
Next time? Nu nu nuuu 💅😂
Withers: I strike thy name from the archives.
(steals gold back)
Withers: I'mma write it back down, with a sharpie!
This is one of the funniest have seen. you unbotherly activate a trap, destroy a building, almost kill yourself but successfully kill Astarion, try to fix it but, please, FREE OF CHARGE, get yelled at by the vampire who can't stay mad at you at the end for some reason. I can't breath 💀
Neil is honestly such a gem... His delivery on literally all of Astarion's lines is just pure gold
I don’t care what anyone says. I love Astarion so much. How could you not?! Not only is he very pretty, he also has some of the funniest lines and deliveries ever, as well as extremely expressive animation, and also some really good dramatic scenes that admittedly made me cry. He’s wonderful. I will fight you 😂
Cause he is a selfish prick basically, but I guess he has his moments.
I feel like he’s the only expressive one . Every Tav I make seems to have resting bitch face. I know you’re very stressed out from trying to stay alive but I wish you could look a little friendlier.
people who hate him literally don't pay attention to the story 💀
@@TheRealJerma remember that time he KILLED YOU while sucking you dry? What a great guy, really
The animation is so expressive cause that's Neil's mocapped face lmao you just *know* he threw his entire being into acting Astarion
"the full concentrated power of the sun" line was legit the megamind style of reading that line
"just don't do it again" I love him so much
The faint oblivion music at the start is beautiful!
I want Astarion.
Sus
We have astarion at home.
@@Bdavis2475 I just have one question.
Where u live? xd
Same, but my game has been crashing lately so I can't continue my adventure :'c
@@Bdavis2475 Mom said it's my turn on the Astarion! Gimme
Neil's voice acting combined with your editing is 10/10. Whenever I need a good laugh, I watch this video. Thank you for this 😂
I appreciate you 😊
No wonder why he won an award for this acting
Winner of performance of the year everybody.
bro realy pulled a bethesda pickpocket strat on that necromancer
There is a reason why Neil Newbon won Best Performance.
That voice actor deserves an award or two ;)
The simple fact that he is not annoyed about getting ressed cos he died but more about having a building dropped on him
01:39 if anyone want the "no, no, no"
This man won GOTY for a reason
His face in the thumbnail is disturbing me for some reason, lol
I have never seen astarion smile joyfully before and it’s unsettling
@@Mylo8328 for real 😧
It's made using faceapp I think. That app puts the same creepy smile on everyone LOL but it's such a meme. You can tell it doesn't look right on Astarion because 1. the man doesn't smile like that and 2. fangs are missing!
This is why voice actors deserve more, they actually have fun voicing a character
and he won the game awards for best performance, well deserved 🎉🎉🎉🎉
Absolutely deserved best performance award for his voice actor.
Neil Newbon won Best Performance at the game awards for his role as Astarion. Seriously epic work! He's got so much character
If Neil Newbon doesn't win "Best Performance" in the Game Awards, I will lose it.
News flash: *Neil WON THE BEST VIDEO GAME PERFORMANCE OF 2023* lmfao
Now he got Best Performance of the year and a well earned one.
Neil Newbon deserves every award for this character.
Someone tag Neil please, he did such a good job with this character
Now that you mention it, Im going to add his channel to the description & pinned comment. I really wish I had done it earlier, but I never anticipated this video getting this many views.
The "no no no!" cracks me up. He's throwing a well deserved tantrum.
Thank you for uploading this, I would have NEVER caused this interaction to occur unless by pure accidental luck and Its way to good to be missed!
his award for best performance was well desserved
He's not my romance option but I always keep him around for his entertaining quips. He deserves getting all the awards so far for this scene alone 😅
When the voice actors are actual voice actors.
Gotta give it to the motion capture actors and team, the animators and designers too. That run from the collapse was really cool, and the shot of the house crumbling as well.
For me its the "no no no" that absolutely kills me its so good
And that's why he won best performance in Game Awards
CONGRATS TO NEIL FOR VOICING OUR FAVORITE MAN AND WINNING AN AWARD AT THE GAME AWARDS
Neil was born to play Astarion
Neil Newbon definitely deserves an award for his role in Baldur's Gate 3.
I love how he rants at you, then immediately thanks you and sounds so much less confident. Like he's worried he's fucked your friendship
His whiny NO NO NO gets me every time 😂
Yeah, Neil 1,000% deserved the 2023 Best Performance award.
I come back and watch this video almost daily. I love this so much. So quotable.
the sneaky soundbite at 0:27
The next part is even better! “There’s a difference between a nice summer breeze and the FULL POWER OF THE SUN!”
I think it's the body language that really sells it.
No wonder this game is game of the year 2023
This is why the companions in this game are so good
The writers aren't overprotective of them so you can bully them in moments like this or just straight up kill them if you don't like them and aren't patient enough to grind for disapproval points for them to leave
OMFG, Tav pickpocketing Withers while he's raising Astarion, Astarion's righteous outrage, and then at the end, BAP!!! I hurt myself laughing. 🤣🤣🤣
i loves this man
I know we're all crushing on the voice work but the performance capture on that escape run is straight out of Mission Impossible. Amazing work all round.
that no no nooo lives rent free in me head
Well deserved for best performance in Game awards 2023, I'll be looking forward for your performance Neil! Congrats!!!
Gotta give props to the animators too. The facial and hand movements really sell the scene.
its all motion capture
Incorrect, motion capture for info, then most of all animation is done by AI via script on how characters should be feeling and AI captures that emotion, amazing job on all departments for making such technology, this game would have taken many more years if everything was motion captured
@@eeveeeevee610 source? i cannot find this anywhere at all. everyone just says its normal motion capture.
@@eeveeeevee610 Hi, industry animator of 10 years here, what the fuck are you talking about? They've literally showcased in behind-the-scenes footage numerous times the actors wearing the suits, while recording their lines at the same time. The capture was done in tandem with the voices. They're literally physically acting. The credit really goes to their tech team for insanely good implementation efficiency, because there really IS that much mocap in the game.
You can really tell what parts are mo cap and which ones aren't the ones without aren't that great very jagged
