Im contemplating some of the insignificant pleasures and trendy possessions that our ignorant culture trivially declares as being “TO DIE FOR” in light of the wisdom and death of Socrates. How have we managed to come so far while losing so much ground?

I remember reading Plato's Apology at university, on the death of Socrates, it was the beautiful, saddest text I read
So good. I know more modern history, this is important history, things I have know of but never knew well.
The themes and messages in this series are excellent for our time. Also, the history presentation is so brilliantly condensed, even including fine details. I feel like I read a couple books after each episode, that's not easy to transmit in such condensed timelines, that's what is brilliant.
The older I get, the less I seem to know, is something I have understood for some time now.
I can see a lot of Socrates in you of late, keep asking those questions.

Stand proud for all. Those in the Trucker Convoy of 2022 were fantastic. They stood up when no one else was. You woke up the world to the truth of it all. I'm a Canadian and I watched every minute through Independent news. Canadian's started the wake up call, and the rest of the world have started to do the same thing. It may be for different reasons, it doesn't matter. The important point is people are standing together for their rights everywhere. We need a joining of all the people, instead of the division and hate our governments are trying to create among us. The People need to come together in solidarity and tell the 1% where they can go with their ideals, we have our own.
I'm a bit like that, I keep asking questions if things don't make sense to me. I can tell you, people don't like it! I get ghosted eventually, because well ... they don't have answers, and don't know much!
Don't let them get you down. There's an importance in asking questions, don't ever stop asking questions. Hey not everyone has all the answers, as far as I'm concerned they're upset with you cuz they can't answer your questions. It sounds like they don't want to look into it, cuz then they might have to rethink their beliefs. It's not your fault that some people out there don't want to do the research or look into things that are very important. They want to bury their heads in the sand. Unfortunately it's too bad, they don't want to see.

Neil, re Richard Werner who you had on your GB show last night - well Ive done a bit of research on his "Community Banks" project.. And the first & only of these ie Hampshire Community Bank, appears to be stuck in the mire since Sept 2020. Four years later it appears to be nowhere near getting off the ground as the spearhead of his project. It would be good if you could have him on again to talk properly about this. He always implies something thriving and gives no detail whatsoever. I have found this before with him.
