Hi Mark. I'm from Malaysia. I have two domestic helpers in my house.
Both of them are from Indonesia. We need them to do the house chores, for example, wash clothes, wipe or wash the cars, vacuum and mop the house, wipe all the windows, wash the dishes, iron the clothes etc. At times I do ask them to help out to wash the vegetables. I'm the one who do the cooking. We don't give authority to domestic helpers to discipline our children. This is our culture. They might abuse the power and hurt the children if we were to give them the power to do it. Even myself for example, I am not allowed to spank or raise my tone to children. This is my family rules. For Asian, we believe it's our responsibility to educate and discipline our own children.

i think yes they should be learnt discipline but in a very nice loving way as I've been learnt discipline in my childhood. if the kids are more stubborn and rude then u can b a little bit harsh but in a tricky way because to b too much harsh sometimes make kids more rude and stubborn. so always try to learn them discipline with love and more affection. it works.

Hi, this is an interesting topic, again. We, in Hungarian, turn down a bed, not make it. (And cover the table, but not lay). - Discipline is important, at school and at home as well. I think it can be applied/achieved not only physically but also verbal. My all respect for pedagogues - I wouldn't have enough patience!

Hi, Mark, another great video. Thanks for the useful information!
Would you consider making a video about computer interface (or even youtube interface) vocabulary? Something like: toggle key, radio button, checkbox, maximize, minimize, panel, menu bar, address bar/field, drop-down list, thumbnail, progress bar, icons, tab, pointer, cursor, annotation, avatar, window, dialog box, drag and drop, drag-select, etc.
That could go a long way, especially in the Information Age that we currently live in :)

Au pairs have the right to discipline the kids without beating them. Probably teach them how to love people. If they feel loved, they will respect other people too.

Hi Mark! I think so, if parents' kids agree with it, because a person who take care of a kid is responsible for her education and something. But the final word ought be always from the parents.

Discipline: The practice of training people to obey rules or a code of behavior. With this quotation I guess au pairs must receive authority from parents and follow the code of behavior according to the eviroment of the house.

I never have and never will, even though now I have children of my own and they drive me crazy sometimes, hey we are the adults and should know how to deal with it in a better way!

Discipline kids who are not your own is okay but must be with a sensible way, physical punishment like spanking is strictly forbidden even though their parents allow you to do so, because it can cause injury and ingrain a violent subconscious in their little mind etc, I suggest using persuasion, reward and positive skill or sth like that, however some kids are hyperactivity, hard to deal with indeed, giving you headache, in this situation, you'd better bring it up to their parents to find a solution. Thanks Mark :)

Dear Mr Mark, Au pair is not independent and she does everything under the direct control of parents. Extent of her authority depends on the life style and expectations of parents, at the time of acceptance. Minding the kids is her primary job. She is a domestic help after all, and she is always amenable. Your question seems to be irrelevant.

Good morning Teacher. How are you?
    Change outfit? That's nice!
True. Mostly Western countries do not practice child spanking through discipline. No wonder there are lot of child bullies and number of case of teenage suicide because of it in these region. *A GOOD spanking done in sensible way is not child beating or child abuse.. Child beating/abuse/punishment is definitely a big NO. For me, if a child do not listen after several verbal instruction and correction, It is just right to give a tolerable spanking to emphasis what he did was wrong and need to stop.
In case of Au Pair, she should know her boundaries and understand that the parent entrusted the child in her care to care for not to punish. If ever the child is hard to handle, she need to inform the parent what the child did (In front of the child) and let the parent correct right there and explain to the child the importance of Au pair's authority to disciple.
If I would have a child of my own, I will give him a good spanking if in case needed. I will not let my child grow devil's horn and butt head me or other in the future. And in case of societies debate on this, I would say, the government is not responsible to disciple my child but I do because it is the parent's duty to brought up morally, upright and responsible children.

Really, you don't need to wash your hands after you pee or poo, unless you will immediately eat something with your fingers, because the skin on your genitals or butt is cleaner than your hands, and actually you don't really touch your private part when you pee.

    • @bibimauritius8528
      @bibimauritius8528 6 років тому

Sir, as far as being a baby - sitter, it's hard at time to control the situation specially when kids are stubborn. I've noticed one things with kids and learned also with other baby-sitters that kids react different from parents and baby-sitter. They obey their parents at once without creating difficulties. They behave like an angels infront of their parents. Whereas with baby-sitter they shows their real character. At time, I have to fight against myself to resist in my job. Those who work as baby-sitter must not take disciplines under their hands. Just talk with their parents and it's their responsibilities to bring up their children in a good way. As far as the kids are not for me, I must not to frustrated, nor to spank them. I must show my patience and loves towards them even if I full of rage inside me.
Give disciplines to other that not belongs to you , it's a discussion among parent and baby-sitter. If they give you the right to do so, then it is good.
