Hi Mark, I agree with you up to a point. Maybe it is because I am an old fashion man. On my time I studied with the BBC of London book Calling all beginners and 4 Long play ( 33 rpm). Maybe that`s why I don`t like to burn books. Today I change my way, I use the web. I must admit that it is better. But never burn a book. good by my friend

Hey,Mark, I just totally agree what you said in this lesson. Why do English teachers force their students to level up their English learning to a higher standard than natives. Neither grammar nor textbook are useless in my experience with English learning. By the way, Mark, I love the way you teach because you only explain one thing in one episode, that’s a easier way for leaners to remember. Thanks for the videos.

I love old fashioned British English. it is charming, polite and has the grace and depth to it. Depends on your personality, taste. Classic or casual...deep or shallow... I would any day prefer a man with a sharp suit and classic elegant watch on his wrist than one with a T-shirt and half pant with a mobile phone for a watch and a man / woman who is sophisticated, well-mannered, elegant, magnetic, poetic and has a way with words and with old school chivalry gets my admiration and fascinates me. A hand-written love letter has eternal magic over texts or Emails for me. Even the vintage music....and I belong to the current generation...I never follow fads, which hairstyle is in fashion... If I love the sixties Bee-Hives or seventies polka dots, I go for it.
Burning textbooks would mean insulting knowledge, I would never recommend it, We preserve classic texts even if they are not used in mundane life.

    In this lesson we learn:
5:18 "Neither… nor" is rare/nobody uses it, BUT at 14:34, an example with "neither… nor"! (BTW, in this example, there is no doubt: the singular is the answer.)
to "throw our textbook in the garbage!" and "have a textbook burning party!"… What about their authors?
that "students should not reach a higher standard than natives: it's not fair."
that "Indefinite articles are named like this b/c we don't know what are we talking about!" :-D
