- Robert De Niro and Al Pacino presenting producers Wendy Finerman, Steve Tisch and Steve Starkey with the Oscar® for Best Picture for "Forrest Gump" at the 67th Academy Awards® in 1995.
Imagine getting given an award of De Niro and Pacino.
John Frankenheimer i cant
I would be HONNerrd
I will be honored as hell
Al Pacino is my all-time favorite actor!
@@kentonpryor7091 he is my all time respek actor
Pacino and De Niro look like they just came from the set of Heat!!
Bonkatsu12 Yes,they are ;)
Artur Lapurinsh am i the only one who spotted the stare De Niro gave at 0:51
Agreed
Just exactly like Neil McCauley and Vincent Hanna
Yes Deniro and Pacino look exactly as they did on Heat. The way Deniro looks at Pacino, you could tell he wanted to stay in character.
Shawshank Redemption, Forest Gump, and Pulp Fiction are all great movies! It matters is that these movies are very memorable in my life!
JONATHAN PINZON don't forget green mile
Isn't anyone else gonna mention GROUNDHOG DAY (1993), with Bill Murray, did not get one nomination by the Academy Awards....? :-O

it's such a great thing to see two Don Corleone on the same stage :D
+TheDRMISTERY Michael became Don once Vito died
Don means Lord or boss.
I was waiting for someone to bring this up! It was like a dream come true seeing two legendary and ruthless men in the industry come together on one stage. Intimidating as hell.
I wonder if we got to see de Niro and Brando on the stage together...
@@TheDRMISTERY euh yes he was the Don...
IN any other year, Shawshank Redemption and Pulp Fiction would have almost untouchable.
Da fuh? They're better than Forrest Gump.
They're both infinitely better than Forrest Gump tbh
What a shame about that. The same year 3 amazing amazing movies.
@@eyezack2778 well there are people who say the opposite, two people i know didn't like shawshank redemption saying its boring and imdb doesn't mean shit...some people say forrest gump is better than shawshank etc
@@Gencturk92 I don't care lol
Who really cares about which film won a little gold statuette. Look at the legacy that all three films have left in their wake. Just because Shawshank and Pulp didn't win. It doesn't make the experience of watching either film any worse. They are all classic films and what does a tiny little trophy change about a whole planet that adores them.
+pritchy H Agreed. All 3 are classics. They all win in the long run.
+pritchy H Beautifully stated.
The Oscars matter very much! I think you should respect it!
JONATHAN PINZON The Oscars do matter but in many ways they don't. Plenty of great movies like The Shawshank Redemption don't get the Academy Award recognition they deserve similar to Alfred Hitchcock and Stanley Kubrick
JONATHAN PINZON Oh please.
Haha love how De Niro and Pacino are clearly still in their Heat characters.
Imagine if the restaurant scene was then debating whether Forrest Gump should have won or not.
Yes. Because this 1995's Oscar was held during the filming of Heat
@@joshuakodrat Yep. They look pretty anxious to get back on set too
@@goodbadbill oh yeah, that's the first time for them to get on same screen together. But, both of them nailed for it
@@joshuakodrat It's just too bad Heat never got nominated the following year. The movie is a masterpiece.
Pacino and De Niro looks so handsome
As always
This is insane. We got The Shawshank Redemption, Pulp Fiction, Forrest Gump and The Lion King in the same year!
Don't forget 'Leon : The Professional'
Leon the prof
You can tell De Niro & Pacino were filming Heat at the time
Shawshank Redemption, Forrest Gump, and Pulp Ficition are all 3 great movies and 1994 was a great year in film making.
De Niro Pacino on stage together! Am I in heaven?
And they became on-set together in Heat several months after this 1995's Oscars
3 of the nominated films here (Pulp, Shawshank, Gump) went on to become modern classic. Does not matter which one should've won, they are all great!
Agreed! All 3 were incredible and 3 of my top ten movies of all time , they all deserved to win
Thank you I really don’t care which one should win because they are all great films they all have great performances, well written scripts, and interesting directing.
i agree
I'd argue Four Weddings and a Funeral is a semi-classic of sorts. Especially in British cinema it is
Forrest Gump is the worst one
The Lion King deserved to be nominated more than Quiz Show.
From what I heard, it almost did.
More than Four Weddings & a Funeral too!
***** Yeah, I love Quiz Show.
Iván Martín idk quiz show was a VERY good movie.
The Lion King isn’t that good of a movie.....
i just love Robert De Niro and Al Pacino
So this is what happened after Heat? De Niro got up from his bloody heap, dusted himself off, Pacino put down his gun, and together they went off together to present the best picture Oscar to Forrest Gump...
Fact: The Shawshank Redemption didn't get hardly any praise outside of its nomination because most people were confused by the name. It took almost two years for people to see the movie as what it has become today: The greatest film of all time.
Forrest Gump is great too. :)
it did good on vhs rentals and cable tv
I think it was more about the story. In my opinion, relatability is very relevant. Most people can connect with Forrest or a character from the movie. There are several notable quotes from the movie. It just connected with the audience more.
Shawshank was so underrated in the whole function
But still it's the best movie ever made in the history❤️
Al Pacino and Robert De Niro looked so serious... They were two badass actors who wouldn't want no part of the Oscar.
The 90’s what an amazing era
when Pacino and De Niro were the biggest craze
Both were amazing in heat . What a movie
Some of the greatest movies of all time presented by the two greatest actors of all time.
And both starred in " Heat " directed by Michael Mann, but zero oscar nominations. Go figure, a biased Academy perhaps?
Pacino and De Niro so so so classy and sexy.
stunning! Looks like the two came straight from the HEAT shooting
Lion King should've been nominated with Forrest Gump, Pulp Fiction, and Shawshank Redemption
I agree and the 5th nominee was deservingly Quiz Show. Four Weddings and a Funeral was good but not Best Picture worthy.
@@toruk.makto7 the lion king?? Ahh the copy of kimba.
@@rbozz72 Ahh Kimba, the copy of Shakespeare's Hamlet. The Lion King is still better than Kimba any day of the week and two times better on Sunday.
Let's be honest. The lion king is a good movie for beinging a kids movie but far from being an actual great movie like forest gump and others
@@johnf010 You're actually joking, right?
I don't care about the films, I look at Robert de Niro
Robert de Niro and Al Pacino... 1995. I think both of them were top notch actors in this time, even with both been over 50 - I'd say they were in their prime. Heat is just fantastic.
I just came here to see vincent hanna and neil mccauley present the award.
and pacino and deniro were so beautiful.
The Shawshank Redemption...The BEST picture of 1994
without an oscar
_The Lion King_ should've replaced _Four Weddings & a Funeral._
@Diego Pisfil Agree to disagree.
was De Niro still in his HEAT character ? the dirty look he gives Pacino at 0:52
De Niro bruhh, can do anything he wants to.
Aman except when it involves Pacino
Shawshank should have won, Morgan Freeman should've gotten Supporting Actor, Newman should have taken Best Original Score. Gump is good, but nothing comes close to Shawshank.
Andy Schneider indeed that movie was so deep touching
I so agree with you with all my heart.
@@Redwoodtree34567 but morgan freeman was the main actor, tim robbins was supporting actor and sadly he didnt even get nominated
Ok
Both are terribly overrated!
Pacino and De niro so so so cool!!!
every movie on the list was deserving but Forrest Gump was a true tear jerker Tom Hanks was custom made for that role .
I prefer the green mile as the best Tom Hanks film, not forrest gump.
***** totally agree with you
Naw, Green Mile is a better Sam Rockwell and Michael Clarke Duncan film than a Hanks work. Hanks' best are Gump, Philadelphia, Saving Private Ryan, Cast Away.
Shawshank was a tear jerker
DeNiro and Pacino!! 😍😍😍😍😍👌👌Made my day..!
Forrest Gump won 1994 best picture academy award (oscar)
Pulp Fiction won 1994 palme d'or cannes film festival
The Shawshank Redemtion is the highest movie in imdb ranking with 9,3/10
Pacino's reaction when he reads "Forrest Gump" as winner, seems like he's gonna teeter over. hahaha
Heat should've been acknowledged by the Academy the following year. It was heavily snubbed in my opinion.
I gotta go watch that year. Heat is in my top 5 films of all time. Exceptional movie!

Any one of those other 4 films in any other year would have won the award.
"Forest Gump" was a very worthy winner.

Pacino and De Niro presenting the awards. Dude if I was the one accepting it, I would shit on my pants
Yaa, I would have straightaway put De Niro's pants down and give him a BJ, lol.
Getting the award from father and son Corleone, that's impressive!
Damn was this an amazing year for films. Look at the nomination list. Shawshank Redemption, Forrest Gump, and Pulp Fiction are the standouts of course but Four Weddings and a Funeral is also a great movie. Let not forget that. Al pacino and de niro legends. Best actors 👊👊👊🔥🔥🔥
Better experience Pulp fiction
Better story Forrest Gump
Better movie Shawshank redemption
De Niro and Pacino look hot.
Despite the fact history will remember Pulp Fiction and the Shawshank Redemption a lot more, it still blows my mind that Forrest Gump beat both of them to win Best Picture AND Best Director.

I just watched Forrest Gump the other day and it was amazing!
Shawshank still the highest rated movie on IMDb. Yeah it's an Amazon thing, but still the most visited movie site on social media. But for fucks sake just bring back the message boards.
Damn, Forrest Gump, Pulp Fiction and Shawshank Redemption, this was a tough year. I still think Forrest Gump deserved it because even though the other two films were phenomenal, Forrest Gump showed us how a simple man with a good heart could contribute such great things in this world during the American century.
Forrest Gump is such a bittersweet movie. When you think of FG your initial thought is what you mentioned. How hes a simple minded man with good heart and yet he accomplishes soo much in spite of it. Yet i always think of why he was punished so much. Losing his best friend in war, losing his mother at a young age, getting shit on my Jenny and LT Dan, and finally when he has her, he loses her. Ive always loved this movie , but idc what anyone says, im not quite sure anyone knows what Robert Zamekis was trying to say in this movie. I feel he picked a simple minded character to narrate his views on how fucked up the world was in the 70's.
I loved Forrest gump BUT.......SHAWSHANK is always rated in top 5 all time films and a lot of time fans No1
I agree with you matt, I love forest gump and I've watched it more than I have shawshank but IMO, shawshank should have won
No.
No what? Lol
Shawshank should have won. It's the film that's endured the most and generally considered to be one of the finest motion pictures ever made. Forrest Gump is great on its own mawkish, sprawling terms, but it's not in the same league.
I would argue that Pulp Fiction has endured more than Shawshank. Both are exceptional however
It's all subjective
Forrest gump was more iconic
Not in the same league? Cause what you have said about Shawshank also applies to Forrest Gump. It's not even an opinion but an goddamn fact that Forrest Gump is one of the MOST BELOVED movies out there by the general movie goers and neutral people. As much as I like Shawshank, at the end of the day it was one of the thousand prison movies for me while movies like Forrest Gump only comes once in a lifetime, it was that revolutionary and has already cemented it's place in history ages ago and will forever be known as one of the greatest film of all time.
@@everythingisawesome2903 Don't get me wrong, I do love Forrest Gump a lot, but IMDb is surely a more accurate measure of what the general public prefers rather than your own individual opinion and Shawshank has held the number one film of all time spot for a couple of decades now. So yes, Gump is great and beloved, just not as much as Shawshank. And that's based on fact.
Look how organised the ceremony was just 22 years ago compared to the chaos of recent ones
1994 was one of the best years for cinema.

Gosh, Pulp Fiction, Shawshank Redemption and Forrest Gump are all so good it’s hard to choose. Forrest Gump on one hand has an incredible Tom Hanks performance and it’s so emotional and inspiring seeing Forrest go through life and major historical events whilst losing many important people, Shawshank is so inspiring and heartwarming whilst showing how terrible prison life is and what it can do to you and Pulp Fiction is a suspenseful aimless story that’s told in such a unique way with some of the best dialogue and performances in cinema.
