    I wish they would bring CW UK back to tv once a month at 9/10pm like it used to be, I remember watching it because it was the only time of the month that my parents used to let us stay up later than usual to watch it because we had school the next day 😊

      It was a different time. Its wouldn’t be worth them putting it on tv. They get all the exposure they need using social media now, not to mention the big brother world we’re living in.

    The John Doe found in the Jubilee River is still unidentified. He has an active entry on the Doe Network website. A 2013 BBC article I found about unidentified bodies mentioned him and that authorities think he was from Poland.

    I notice Rav Wilding is not on this edition. Was he alternating with Jonathan Morrison? Rav was on the 20th anniversary show for his first ever appearance, and I thought he was fine on that - looking slightly shy, quiet and serious. I would have liked him more had he stayed like that. Didnt like the way he eventually started hogging the limelight with his 'cheeky chappie' persona, always standing in front of and obscuring the faces on the Most Wanted board, making constant corny and inappropriate puns for the Caught on CCTV segment (or was that the producers who fed him those?) and by the time we got to the gratuitous horror film sound tracks, we had the directors cutting away from the action of a reconstruction to Rav strategically positioned in the middle of the murder scene, as though he was the star of the show. Was it about 2007 when all this happened and Crimewatch started to go down the pan? Didn't it sharply deteriorate after Nick left?

    • @lw3646
      @lw3646 6 місяців тому +3

      It went to pieces around 2007-8 IMO tacky reconstructions with fast editing, horror music and flashback style cuts, Kirsty Young grandstanding over every crime giving us her judgement. Rav cracking stupid jokes during his most wanted segment. It went to utter crap in 2016, Jeremy Vine more or less on his own in a car park presenting it, a zero budget production.
      The recent Crimewatch Lives are actually improving now. Much better presenting just calm, compassionate but never wallowing in it. The reconstructions are also much more slowly done again with more sensitive/sad music much more in the background than the foreground.

    Thanks for another upload. This is a episode I remember watching, especially for the detective when he mentions the person they're looking for is a Grant Mitchell lookalike
    I am a big CW fan just like everyone else, but I think you can definitely feel the decline in the production quality and the types of cases they showed. There is a lot of 'filler' stuff going on too. Just 10 years prior, the only filler stuff was the "antiques corner" or whatever it was called.
    For me the early to mid 90's was the heyday of CW with it's production quality.

      Looks like he lasted until 2005 on Crimewatch. It seems the accusation that he assaulted his girlfriend was from a year after he left the show (?) - The following short report is from the Daily Mirror in 2006 :
      FORMER Crimewatch presenter PC Jonathan Morrison has been arrested after he was accused of assaulting his girlfriend.
      PC Morrison, 30, who found fame as the crime-busting BBC show's first black presenter, was arrested in London last month after police received a complaint of assault.
      The allegation is now being investigated.
      PC Morrison, right, a leading member of the Metropolitan Black Police Association, was unveiled as the new face of Crimewatch in May 2004.
      He was inspired to join the force in 2002 after he saw a TV programme featuring a black policeman talking to kids in a youth club. He began working with a 999 response team in Lambeth, South London, before becoming a schools officer - and then TV star.
      PC Morrison has been bailed to return to a police station on July 2.
