Tony saying that people wouldn't drop the belt or lose if they couldn't beat them in real life is the silliest thing I've ever heard in all the years I've been in and around wrestling. Complete lunacy. The only time someone wouldn't lose to someone else was either ego or a strong dislike for the person in question and had nothing to do with really being able to beat one another.
He didn't say it always happened. he said only some wrestlers thought that way.. especially old school wrestlers with a certain ego.
David Schultz mentioned in a interview that Hogan and Mr T did the same thing to Richard Belzer on his talk show, They got a pass,
the Richard Belzer thing was an accident... check youtube.. Hogan underestimated his arms and over estimated the blood flow capacity in Belzer's neck.. Hogan didn't know he was out and Richard hit his head hard.

in Schultz case he never hit Stossel in the ear it was on the cheek, both left n right cheeks.
