it would have been so funny if they showed a picture of black Michael Jackson and he said passed and then immediately showed white Michael Jackson after and he guessed it right
No that's actually hilarious 😂
Dude 😂😂😂😂😂😂😂
I literally thought of the same thing lmfao
You’re hired.
Now you’re fired. Here’s a picket sign
Bro that literally would’ve been genius, ofc you would think of something better than the snl writers😂😂
This one was solid and then completely and utterly fizzled
On, Tuesday, "I've got a great premise, but having trouble coming up with the punch-line."
They needed to make this sketch clearer... Either Shane messed up or poor writing;
The character knew all the answers but was afraid that if he did get one wrong, on television, he'd be labeled/canceled and ruined socially... (not that he didn't know who they were because he is white)
Snl is dud after dud, this started out bad and finished embarrassingly bad
It seems like this was meant to be the inverse of the Tom Hanks MAGA Jeopardy skit, but they whiffed on the punchline.
They are just hiring randoms now. The last 10 years it has gone from bad to junior high school level writing.
Damn this sketch ended abruptly...
Yet another sketch tonight that just stopped. What's going on? They had a few weeks to work on it.
For many years now SNL has had NO idea how to end a sketch that doesnt have a "natural" end point. Oddly enough a game show should have a natural end point so i guess they finally suck that much
Was literally about to post the same thing, until I checked to see if anybody else saw this, too 😂😂
I can't speak for what happened exactly, but I do know that sometimes, they end a sketch on TV for time purposes even though it goes longer in person. Perhaps this is one of those times? Or maybe they just really didn't know how to end it.
Maybe one day they will be able to ask AI how to end a sketch based on a scenario.
“At 9 the news, at 10 the scary news” 😂😂😂😂
“Did you see that last round? I knew all the people” how are you with art? “I did know the people on there” 😂
The Actress messed up on last scene, because she never look at the screen ,
to act like she was looking at the pictures before guessing.
😂😭
yes thank you we all watched the same thing you did. no one needs you to quote the joke from the video we all saw and put an emoji after it like you’re having some original thought. you’re just transcribing the video. cringe
Bwahahhahahhah this is why i read the comments
@@mikejones2405people are just saying their favorite part, you misanthropic freak.
When he got Cleveland I almost pissed myself, funny stuff
slow own you might choke on it bud
well it was funnier to me because I DID piss myself and soaked the whole couch.
" you only got one right & it was my favorite " is crazy tho
If SNLs goal is to be anticlimactic and not know how to end a sketch, then they are on top for their game!
I feel like they should have featured some obscure white historical figures and he gets them all.
Yeah they are still figuring it out...
@@IndepenisDay After all, it's only been about 50 years since they first aired
This would be so easy to end. It's a sketch about a show with a host, just have the host go to break right after something funny happens.
@@dclikemtndew Show a picture of samuel l jackson, have Shane say "OH, that's Morpheus, right?" and the host, frustrated, say "let's just go to a break". Something as simple as that
Merk Maid, she spillin' all her Merk!
What? I'm dead.😂
That was good.
I think cuz Bowen called it mirk earlier when he was guessing milk Lmao callback!!
@@vandal280 yep, it was a callback. That's why I found it so funny.
@@vandal280 I guess because I said "what?" in my first comment, it makes sense that you thought I was confused. I was just exclaiming about how strange and funny it was.
@@vandal280 thanks!
"A bit of a history buff" Shane Gillis is a Normie fan like we are.
Shane Gillis is a normie
@@alexdawe-le4vj Who isn't? Rip the greatest comic Norm Macdonald.
@@Gizmo_R53Shane is definitely more of a norm fan than the writers
Gillis is also legitimately a history buff
He’s brought up that he’s a history buff on almost every set and podcast he’s been on. It is true.
I did all the sound FX for this while having a migraine last week. It's nice to watch it back and see that it went so well. I was struggling at the time. All the buzzers and such...that's me. Ask me about it! Posting on a lark, just to see how UA-cam works
Intentionally making noise while having a migraine requires a wild level of fortitude!! I’d’ve been dragging myself across the stage, wrapped in a strangely crusty towel I found in a utility closet, whimpering and clawing at the lights. Do you have a keyboard with all the sounds on them?
Sure do. I play back everything from a keyboard and a program called Battery.
Do you regularly work on snl or are you like a freelancer?
@@iNBiSiLe I am the head of the sound FX department, so I am there week in and week out. I've been working there for 20 years now, but only recently took over sound FX.
@@iNBiSiLeI've been at SnL for 21 years now, only recently taking over the role as head of sound FX. Happy to answer any questions!
Shane's laugh after the graphic at the end lets you know he knew that one didn't work.
yeah the ending didn't land but i always love their effort
None of it worked. Who is writing this shit?
It worked in places. Like a lot of SNL sketches. Highs and lows.
At least Shane was funny in it.
@@gregl2138 Your favorite diversity hires, so you can't be mad at helping create the blackhole of humor this show has become.
@@YUMLiberalTearswho are you angry at
"It comes out of a cow... liquid cocaine!" 😂
This sketch was okay. The ending kinda felt a bit abrupt though.
Definitely was abrupt when I watched live and still is watching it again.
Idk I think Shane might've taken her line
shut up dork
The joke was that he was right. The photo was Jean-Michel Basquiat, but he conceeded to her (a Black woman) that it was The Weekend, because of his White Guilt, that he couldn't name any of the historical persons in his previous round. it ended where it was intended to end.
They can't do anything original. Still living off the celebrity jeopardy Norm did. Fyi SNL does not hire funny people
what did you think whenever you saw the orange juice?
I though uhhh... thats.. orange juice
dude I love this guy
Not me thinking "drinks" meant "alcoholic drinks" and going with "Screwdriver" and "White Russian" before realizing I'm definitely an alcoholic...
Not your fault. At all.
If you've seen the show, you quickly realize that the "categories" can be incredibly vague. One person had "Simpsons Actors" which consisted of pictures of actors who voiced characters on the show--NOT pictures of the characters themselves. This included guest spots, and people who played themselves. So random.
@@TeamPaul17sinosons actors isn’t vague. You’re just confusing actors with characters
@@TeamPaul17Simpson actors is exactly what you described it would be though.
@@ShittyMcPoopyBalls I know that--I saw the episode. My point is that the contestant who claimed to be a Simpsons expert didn't need to know a thing about the show--only the faces of some of the hundreds of actors that have voiced characters on the show. The "Simpsons" part could have been left out of the category and nothing would need to change.
Yeah apparently people drink straight chasers
To anyone who hasn’t seen any of the actual episodes of “The Floor” since it’s a new game show: this sketch is actually a hilarious art imitates real life type of sketch because the actual episodes so far have really had several moments like this (just to a lesser extent)
"ho in a half-shell' 'covid hookup 'gay stuff' "JK Simmons and Cynthia Nixon" hilarious
Ho in a half shell sent me hahahah

@@caseyschoenleber1760me tooooo
@@caseyschoenleber1760same😂
I didnt really get it. Kinda made the whole sketch fizzle out.
Shane’s laugh at the very end 4:22 💀
Did the audience not read the ”laugh” sign properly? That ended faster than shanes first snl appearance
Ending did seem awkward. 😮
"David, what did you think when you saw orange juice?" "I thought that that's orange juice." Dude I don't know why but that had me rolling😅
Idk which I thought was funnier “liquid teeth” or “mayo-nai-naise”😂😂😂
Damn. This is rough to watch. They need to start doing this show once a month. Give these writers some more time
Shout to whoever wrote this sketch and their mention of Basquiat, a true NYC legend.
He knew that one lol
Shame the rest of the sketch was shit
Yeah, I guess.
I sure don't think anything he made looks "good"
But art is subjective apparently
@@ZeSgtSchultz Yep, it's just like your face, no one thinks it looks good other than your mom, but looks are subjective apparently.
@@Gr8Incarnate Was the guy your Father? No. Did he insult him? No. You ought to seek some therapy for whatever aggression has built up in your life and stop being such a jerk.
“My wife is pregnant so I’m drinking for two” 😂 I relate…
Yeah,that's definitely a glass of milk 🥛
It's boob water.
It just shows you what a good guy Shane is. even though he got fired from this place he still puts shine on the SNL crew by letting them do a show with him.
Ah, Cleveland! 😂
"we gonna die" that was great 😂
Bowen's "Pumped to be here" seemed a bit personal.
Just playing it up I think, it's irresistible.
I thought the same thing and he shuffled off rather quickly.
No eye contact with Shane either
@@noahsscott They’re all reading cue cards dog. They hardly ever make eye contact. Bowen actually told Rolling Stone (yeah i googled it): “Between me and Shane, both of us have tried to rise above that really strange circumstance, and I think we have. He seems to be doing well, and I’ve been very lucky.” They hugged as the cameras cut for the close of the show. They follow each other on social media. They very clearly don’t hate each other. For some reason certain Shane fans seem upset that there *isn’t* some massive firestorm. Even the Daily Beast seems like it’s phoning it in trying to say he bombed. Comedy’s for laughing at, not whining about, one way or the other.
“Cynthia Nixon and JK Simmons…” I died!
“American Gothic” of course, by Grant Wood.
Spot on Rob Lowe impression!
sure got the voice.
Vocally, maybe. Appearance-wise, Rob Lowe is supposed to look like the illegitimate son of Charles Rocket (Lowe has the square jawline and piercing blue eyes that Charles Rocket had). Michael Longfellow looks more like Cecily Strong's long-lost brother, with Norm Macdonald's dry humor and Bill Hader's penchant for playing sadistic game show hosts (and strangely, can play Bill Hader when he's not playing weird characters or doing spot-on celebrity impressions).
Has to be sarcasm
Got the hair anyhow.
He did nothing
Ho on the half shell was best part
Her entire run was funny af
That impression of Rob Lowe was pretty spot on. Love it and nice skit and Shane did a great job so far.
His Rob Lowe impersonation is perfect 😂😂😂
He does a great Rob Lowe impersonation.
Shane is a great addition
Welp at least we got the Rob Lowe impression we didn’t know we needed 🤷🏼♀️
As a fan of "The Floor," this is HILARIOUS! 🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣
That’s actually such a great Rob Lowe 😂
Per usual, Ego annihilates. Between the American Gothic bit, and the mirk callback, I was on the floor.
"only got one right but it was my favorite" 😂😂😂
so excited to see shane on here
“My wife is pregnant, ive been drinking for two” is so good. Gonna start using that one
Michael Longfellow is so underrated!
I thought me and my husband were the only ones who noticed how they don't know anything about anything to do with black people on The Floor, they passed EVERY TIME!
Dude had Rob Lowe's voice on pact 😅😅😅
The Fact THIS ACTUALLY happened on a show..made this way funnier
Great Rob Lowe impersonation 😄👏🏼😄👏🏼😄
Shane's last line of you were right was funny af
michael absolutely nailed rob lowe’s awkward pauses and goofy inflection
The fact he just takes her answer for The Weeknd as absolute fact when he was right lmao
Bowen looks like he's completely avoiding looking at Gillis.
That’s why it’s the first time I didn’t find his lines funny. Being a professional doesn’t mean sitting on the show. Look at Shane’s character in the eye and take the high road.
He didn’t connect with his lines at all, rushed to get them out and off the stage.
Do they not like each other?
Shane was supposed to join the SNL cast the same year as Bowen, but Bowen found clips of Shane saying an Asian slur and got him off the cast.
@@ihaveplants5922 I've never heard that Bowen had anything to do with it
Even Shane can't save SNL...
Whoever wrote that sketch should be fired immediately.
Why?
Writers strike started midway through that script
The writers “passed” on that whole sketch 😂
SUCH a good Rob Lowe!!! Well played, Michael.
Wow. The joke couldn't decide what it was.
That little giggle from Shane when the title came on was perfect.
Only here for Shane Gillis
Shane with the “No Sweppe” 😂😂😂
I’m sure SNL now sees they made the biggest mistake of all time firing Shane. But for Shane it was the greatest thing to ever happen to him.
Shane has a great career ahead of him. Best thing to happen to him was getting fired. Fucking inspirational.
Only knowing that the sketch was over because you can hear Shane start laughing at the end.
You'd think after almost 50 years on air, SNL would know how to end a sketch but you'd be wrong.
Shane killed it. Monologue funny as hell and he was great in all the skits. Congrats Shane and thanks SNL (also, for cancelling him because he’s saving comedy with his offensive jokes).
Bowen Yang fricken elevated this sketch. It really should have been Bowen and Shane working off each other the whole time.
Lmao not really
lol, them skipping all the people of color is so accurate. 😂
How is this put on tv.
It actually seems like Shane Gillis is just thinking, "Wow these people aren't funny, at all. I'm really glad I don't work here."
This was terrible 💀💀💀
"My wife is pregnant I've been drinking for 2" ain't that the truth
I love that you can hear him giggle at the end.
I've been loving the floor, and it do be like that😂
The hair and the suit ready look so much like Rob Lowe I had to do a double take 😅
Dude did great with the Rob Lowe voice.
No disrespect to Rick Moranis, but Shane Gillis was born to play a live action Barney Rubble.
How can a show have the same problem for 50 years? SNL didn’t know how to end a sketch in 1988 and they don’t know how to end one now.
You can keep this flavorless guy, I'll take Bobby Lee.
I love how he got Rob Lowe’s cadence down, good impression
They had better start appreciating and making good use of Ego's talent because this season they are wasting it and she is one of the best cast members in years. Meanwhile, the guy playing Rob Lowe is TERRIBLE. He is NEVER funny. How did he get cast? They need to dump him and stop wasting the real talent they have.
Rob Lowe is so timeless and gorgeous that SNL uses a 20-something-year-old to cast.
That was so funny until the abrupt ending did they really not have time to write how that would end?
They should make Shane the permanent host..
This is the first time SNL hit over a million views on UA-cam in MANY years
Wow not only was this sketch a complete FAIL, but the writers had absolutely no idea how the real game is played at all. I love the Floor as it has some fun challenging rounds and is a blast to watch with friends. I think SNL needs to hire back members from past seasons when SNL was funny and had actual talent and personality. Well, I guess there's always reruns.
This sketch was so mid but it was eerily accurate to the show lol.
The funny thing is this show ended last night and the winner basically didn't have to play that much at all. She only played a total of 3 rounds the entire season and in the last duel she barely had to play as she didn't really win, but her opponent lost.
Awesome Rob Lowe impression 😂
Thats not Rob Lowe, that's Edward Cullen.
The "cleveland" got me.
That's a good Rob Lowe impression
“Clam chowder no clam” I hate that so much for some reason
SNL blew it firing Shane but gave everyone an amazing comedian.
Putting Shane against an asian in an SNL skit is actually genius
Gillis:"Thank god SNL fired me"
Having seen the real show, this is so hilarious! I love it!
Shane proving hes the only compelling cast member
It's like some horrible alternative reality where Shane got the SNL job
"of course I know who Oprah is"
Still passes lol
It's funny how some will never understand how brilliant this is.
I feel like SNL tried their hardest to make Shane look bad.
