That relief from getting the fire going…a long way from help…whew, is just palpable. I”m a bit outdoorsy and have had trouble getting a fire going…when I really wanted a fire. IT FEELS SO GOOD. What a beautiful place. I may never get to Australia; so, thanks for sharing. From East Tennessee, U.S.A..
I am also from East Tennessee and I surely agree with ya. I will probably never get to go to this amazing and magical country but I am thankful to Scotty for showing us its wonders.
Hi Scotty, I knew you would go back there, it's a special place I know , i keep going back myself, it's the tranquillity that draws ya back, you picked the water level just right this time..easy walking.. I told my wife years ago its where I want my ashes to be spread as well at the start of the gorge, Scotty a good walk is where you started down and turn up a major creek, that creek is as good if not better ..having a car at both end is the go, something to think about next time you go there.i look forward to see the next video you do down there Scotty, there will be another..I know. Dougy.
It sure is a special place mate. Thanks for that info. I think I know the creek your talking about. Do you have instagram? If you do, it would be great if you could shoot me a message (or an email which you can find on my website. The link is in the video description) I’d love to chat to you about the area regarding access and the creek you mention. Cheers mate.
Loved it. The power and history and just overwhelming magic is epic. Can imagine people for thousands of years walking through this beautiful landscape
A little trick i learned watching Dave Canterbury - If you put the notch in the toggle off centre, the stick dips naturally and you can just drop it into the neck of the bottle. When you pull the string, the sticks already locked in place so it doesn't matter.
I know it would spoil the scene but i walk along in places like that and dream of building my house here or there or up there. great looking place. Thanks for taking me on a daydream. Ray.
I admire your bush skills immensely Scotty, but I don’t think anyone would think less of you if you carried a lighter with you as a back up fire starter!
I was thinking the same ha ha. The fact the guy was so relieved to light that last char cloth made me think the guy didn't actually have one with him ha ha
Using a lighter to start the fire would take away massively from the raw bushcraft walkabout style video, a lot of the reason why I love watching Scotty is the fact he makes the effort to not use a lighter and show how to properly start a fire out in the bush. Hooroo
I love the emotion you always express in nature. You’re so genuine with how you connect with it and it comes across in the videos! Keep it up, I love the channel!
Hot tip, save you bread bags for med size fish covers 👍 You're the only person doing this quality work showing Eastern NSW like this, thank you so much mate 👍
In the seventies there was Malcolm Douglas...in the eighties there was Alby Mangels & Jack Abslom...since then there has been no one, no one decent anyway. ...Now there is Scotty.....and Scotty I think I have said it before...you my friend are a True Adventurer...love you style and love your UA-cam content...you are as genuine as they come, and you are up there with the best of them. Keep the vids coming mate.👏👏
I was in Western Australia with the US Marines in the early 80's. We spent a week on liberty in Perth (wonderful people). And a week in the field doing training with Australian forces (also wonderful people). On patrol we stop I get low like I'm supposed to. A brown snake pokes it's head out from under a bush a few feet from my head. Don't know what I was thinking at the time but I guess I got it right. I slowly stood up and backed away. Snake went the other direction. Looking at a Wikipedia article on Australian snakes I reckon it was an Eastern Brown snake. Very bad in terms of the venom but not an especially aggressive species.
They're very venomous, but our snakes are pretty chilled unless they feel threatened. You did the right thing, give them space and they'll just bugger off and look for a meal.
Stunning part of the country mate. That cave looks like a brilliant spot for camp. Looks like the whole system could make for a great video exploring its length. Good to see you still having a go at the Carp too mate. They are a pretty decent fish food wise.
I am pretty sure that I have watched all your videos scotty and I think that you catching that fish bare handed was the coolest thing you've ever done out bush.
Totally understand the spiritual feeling this ancient land gives u sometimes. Hard to describe but u sure can feel its presence aye. Reckon that old man Eagle was scoping out a couple of snakes for lunch too.
I have been a sub for about three yrs or more, and I remember when you were having trouble with your fishing technique lol, you have improved greatly since then!! I never miss a video and always eagerly await a new one. I love the swagman trips that you do the most, manly because that is very similar to my own style of adventures!! Thx for another awesome adventure!!
Hahaha the quicksand moment 😂😂 Really enjoying this video mate. I don’t know if you’re just stoked here because you have a kid on the way or what it is but you can tell how much you are loving being there. Anyway, I’ll keep watching on 👍👍
This was a great watch mate. That little stretch of creek is something else. Admire your skills in fire lighting too. Need to learn the flint and steel.
I love it when you go back to basics and are at one with nature in all its beauty and of course pitfalls. Well done on catching the Carp with your bare hands. Who would have thought it? Take care, be safe. ❤ Dorset, UK
Awesome episode !! And...."The Humble Carp" sounds like a good name for a coffee cafe. LOL Love the beautiful nature there. I am in Florida USA. I never commented before but have been following your wonderful journey's through your land for awhile now. Thank you for your Humble appreciation for nature's beauty. When you stopped and showed how quiet it could be, you were just looking around and Sensing Nature. I do that too, I could almost feel that experience with you. Beautiful.
A beautiful place indeed. Unusual rock formations coupled with the bends in the river...so gorgeous. Loved seeing the Lyre bird. Making the pancake mix in the ziploc bag, then cutting the hole to pour it is a neat idea. I do a lot of camping and will have to try that. One less dish to wash. I wouldn't have the nerve to camp there with snakes, things thumping around at night, quicksand. I'd be totally freaked out. Good that you can do it and capture it for us on video. Never caught a fish with my hands, but they do it here in the US in the southern states. They call it noodling and it's usually catfish they're catching. Great video!
17:22 that reminds me of, I need to build up my fire kit, how’s it go 1 is none 2 is 1….Think I’ll do an overkill ten different methods I reckon should keep me out of trouble. Hey Scotty amazing spot, reminds me of a few of your old videos on your solo hikes. Brilliant Video 👍🇦🇺. 24:40 nice catch Scotty 30:10 you could always head back there in the future, and make it a few more nights Scotty. A bit of ASMR never hurt anyone. I’ve found a few spots where the spirit is almost tangible where time seems not too be linear and your back thousands of years next one oorroo
So happy to see you eating carp! My Australian mates find the idea disgusting. But here in Alsace, maybe because we're so far from the ocean, fresh carp is considered a great delicacy, especially at the autumn wine festivals. They soak the fish in vinegar to soften the bones, which makes eating it less hazardous!
FIRE FIRE 🔥 🔥🔥Certainly beautiful- paradise it is. I love Lawn Hill similar colours and terrain- gorge as well for Kayak. Scotty and co thank you for another great video 👏🏼👏🏼🙏
Hi Scotty thank you for the wonderful trips I am able to take with you. Just a comment about your water you said it was too hot to drink, why not pour a little in your frying pan, the larger area should help it to cool faster. Hope you might try this the next time. All the best from Ontario, Canada.
Hi Ray, I am originally from Southern NSW, living in WA for the last 30 years. I so miss the sounds of the bellbirds and currawong too....the sounds of home.
Carp was introduced to England by the monks who put them in ponds as food source so they make good eating but we gone and made them a game fish. And carp fishing is big business in the UK now enjoyed the video once again
old school Scotty. 😁 Swag, and light gear. What a beautiful place. I always find fish to be nicer from gin clear water. Trout, redfin, or carp. I think they all taste better from clear water. Thanks mate. Was a really good watch.
Giardia is endemic in Australia. Even the most pristine alpine streams have it. So never get tempted to drink water straight from streams no matter how pristine.
Another awesome bloody video legend!! Keep them coming as always Scotty!! And What a hands on catch with that Carp!! Yewwww!!! Bring on the next adventure! Love it and love the hard work and passion you have mate! -Liam 🇦🇺 🤙🏿
If you enjoyed the video, I would love it if you would consider Subscribing and help me crack that 200k! Thanks legends
You deserve it brother. After watching only a few of your videos, you’ve already become one of my favourite channels. What an absolute gigachad
Always keep a backup Ferro rod !

What do you have on your feet that you walk through water mate?
This just reminds me of the Bush Tucker Man. Great stuff.
Excellent Scotty , one of your best you could feel the power of an ancient people as you walked that river bed.
That last critter was a beautiful Burton's Legless Lizard
Yep, awesome little critters!

Loved the minimalist approach to this video, plus the sites you camped at were magnificent. Keep up the good work Scotty.
I'm a big fan of basic camping so your video's are excellent, keep them coming. Love seeing the country you walk through.

Any hints on where a respectful camper might find this gorgeous spot
Hi Scotty, I do have istragram, I sent you a message on Friday , hope to here from soon, Dougy.
What river is this mate? I'm not interested in the specific spot just the water system in general.
That is such a stunning location

In the 80's I saw a video called no where else on earth, it was a video of Australia, breathtaking!!!

Scotty, yes I enjoyed this walkabout, scenery, logistics, camping procedures, peaceful nature, entertaining, good stuff, cheers 🍻
This was a great watch mate. That little stretch of creek is something else. Admire your skills in fire lighting too. Need to learn the flint and steel.
The power of that place must be intense, as it was felt thru the screen. I can imagine the old ones who were there before.
I love the view and your story 🎉

Ha Ha I loved when you caught the fish by hand..
Yes ha ha catching a fish would be hard enough using a rod and reel!
Hi mate I’m new to the channel but not UA-cam. This is by far my favourite episode of all time. Absolutely fantastic stuff 👍

Funny thing: carp is one of the classic Christmas meals in Austria. So no kangaroo in Austria and no carp in Australia i guess 😂
A nesting cup with the bottle would be useful. An awesome place.
That was in fact a legless lizard Scotty, Looked like a Burton's, real nice to see.
