You can tell this guy is a TRUE gamer. Anyone can see how much he loves those games just by how much effort, time and pure love is put into everything he plays. He loves those games and it shows with how beautifully he plays.
The first game I played as youngling where the OST really stood out and was memorable. Planet Ratis was the coolest song I'd ever heard, back then. Excellent job!
For me, it was the first time I played Nemesis in the arcade. I immediately fell in love with the stage 1 music. A year or two later, I was in another arcade playing a game called Gradius. And I recognized the music. I realized that Gradius was Nemesis, so I ran to the Hills store in the mall and bought it for the NES. I was so excited that I started blabbing all about it to the cashier chick and made her giggle.
Thanks for writing these out, I've included them in the description. I noticed that I made a mistake on the last track though; it's "Power of Anger (Reprise)" and not "Burn The Wind (Reprise)".
@@Nestalgica Also, for the timecodes to be displayed in the youtube player - you must write 0:00 instead of 0:01 in the first timecode, this is my mistake, because I did not think that you would add timecodes to the description
Oh that was wonderful! Well done! I have been playing Life Force for over 30 years now (now on my Switch), and it’s one of my favorite BGM of all time.
Thank you! Yes I have trouble putting into words just how good this soundtrack is, so I did a medley instead. Cheers dude, keep the force alive for another 30!
As a gamer saddened at the fact I was stuck on this game near the end, your covers are igniting a fire that was long extinguished. Much love and props 😊
Even compared to some of the legendary OSTs (Ninja Gaiden, Castlevania, Zelda, Megaman), Miki Higashino's work is one of the best soundtracks on the NES beginning to end. It has absolutely no weak links. It's a testament to this that nearly every track is someone's favorite in the comments below. You absolutely crushed these covers, and this is the version I come back to.
When I was a little kid the only NES games my dad would play with me were Life Force and Contra. Lots of great memories of us barely getting through the game even with the Konami Code.
Salamander (1986) / Lifeforce (1987), the best soundtrack ever!! I was 12, when played for first time this game, and wow... the stereo sound of this arcade machine, blowed my mind..... still to present day. Perfect medley, amazing work! greetings from Chile!
Played this allllllll the time as a kid. It was my main NES game of choice. I LOVE the soundtrack! The only gripe I have with it is that it's too short. Hell, the game is too short. I kinda wish there was an "extended" fan-made soundtrack that was inspired by the original like how they do it for movies. New songs that sound like they just FIT with the game.
Haha, yeah that's actually my least favorite part of the OST. It sounds a bit out of place from the rest of the tunes to me. Glad you liked it otherwise. 🙏
@@Nestalgica to be fair, the part of the game where it occurs seemed out of place lol. Normal level and then out of nowhere you're in a mini-boss battle with this crazy tune in the background. It's a great tune for me though--lots of complexity in such a short composition.
First off, THIS IS AWESOME. Second, every time I think of playing Lifeforce, it reminds me of my friend's older sister who walked through the front door and shouted, "THAT B*TCH SOLD ME A LEFT HANDED VIOLIN!!!"...... lol.... There was context to that that I later found out but OMG, we had to pause the game laughing our asses off. Good memories. I miss the 80's so much.
Hands down the best cover version of these songs! That is to say, utilising all that modernity has to offer, yet preserving and expressing the songs as they are. I had in mind just such a thing a year or so ago since I often found the covers to be lacking.
Greetings from Indonesia.. Im a big fan of Gradius Series, thanx to bring me this medley.. I Love the 'Thunderbolt' song, by the way.. and can't wait to hear gradius 1 soundtracks.. 🙏
This is the BEST ive heard!! even better than the actual remake games. This is perfect!! Not changed too much like the game remake music but this is just right! Has your creativity but still stays true to the 8bit NES original composition! Absolutely fantastic! Subscribing with no doubt! Well done!!
Very cool that you released this as I am patiently waiting for RightousNES to drop. You are the only guy who’s covers are in the same league as Vomitrons IMO. Thanks to you and Pete Rutcho, I need hearing aids at 40. No regrets though. Rock on friends.
@@Nestalgica love most of your remixes, it's all Vertexguy level. takes me right back to the happier times. one remix i'd love to hear is werewolf-last warriors transformed theme. it's obscure, but has a nice sound.
Oooh, another addition to my fine collection. This fucking rocks like nothing else out there! Please do Captain Tsubasa 2/Mighty Final Fight/Street Fighter 2010!
ヤバすぎる🔥🔥🔥

You of all people should know how much passion and heart pays off Lee lol
This is EXACTLY how heavy metal Life Force should sound. Bravo.
2:08 When this kick in,I can pictured a Massive Wave of Flare came from top and bottom of the scene.Fascinate Stage.
fk hell this is so well done, had this on loop for some time, why can't modern games have OSTs like this
The first game I played as youngling where the OST really stood out and was memorable. Planet Ratis was the coolest song I'd ever heard, back then. Excellent job!
I know right, it's so unique in both its sound and feel. Planet Ratis is indeed a total badass of a tune, and Burn the Wind is even more badasser
I'm..flippin
Same this and castlevania 3. Badass games
Absolutely Killer …Beautiful

my fav shoot em up! bgms were amazing

this is how i remember it 1000% no lies
So glad to see these guys give an under appreciated game like this some love.
8:12 my favorite part perfect melody
Lifeforce always did have a banger boss track. I almost always wanted to prolong the boss fights just to rock to it.
Same here.
For me it is always stage 5 "thunderbolt". True masterpiece
still great stuff, man i used to play this game to death and beyond.
The best version forever! Br
This has a Jordan Rudess prog rock feeling to it. Amazing!!
Ah the "here's where it begins and ends" reprisal. That cast a warm feeling upon me, now to go conquer Life Force
Nothing like coming home. Go. Play!
@@Nestalgica Will do friend, will do 😊
Holy shit, this is the most epic version. Sounds exactly like the original version does in my head.
Very Accurate to the Originals. Very well done Dude !!!!
Thanks a lot! 💥
I just got the arcade game version Salamander downloaded. What perfect timing. 👍
Im playing this in the background.
Awesome, destroy them all!
Great game with a great OST, and the cover is just perfect!
Великолепно, атмосфера детства 90х,просто непередаваемое

wow
Fucking awesome work! Every song on this cartridge is a *slammer*, and your versions are absolutely top notch.
This slaps so hard!!!!

This is certainly the best NES soundtracks remix that I heard so far, next is Contra remix!
When I was a little kid the only NES games my dad would play with me were Life Force and Contra. Lots of great memories of us barely getting through the game even with the Konami Code.
GodDAMN this soundtrack is incredible. Thunderbolt in particular is such an amazing tune. Great work, man!
My favorite BGM from the NES era.
The best Lifeforce NES remix band was here!!
Excellent job on the medley, Chris! Huge thanks for make it )
Best medley EVER
I've listened to this 60 times since yesterday and finished the game 3 times. This is simply magic
I loved it. this game is amazing
I can hear the sound effects of the boss, great video👍👍

well.. this is fucking incredible..
Hell yeah! This soundtrack is epic!
You're right about that dude!
@@Nestalgica I will sometimes drive around and listen to this soundtrack. Original 8-bit version and metal covers. It's so damn good!
Dude.... This is the most metal ever \m/
Starfield is always my favorite!
So epic
thunderbolt and poison of snake are my favorite part
My only complaint is that you should've let 3:22 run for another measure. Sounds AMAZING.
Haha, yeah that's actually my least favorite part of the OST. It sounds a bit out of place from the rest of the tunes to me. Glad you liked it otherwise. 🙏

The reason why it sounds out of place is because it IS. it’s an homage to Gradius’ (Lifeforce’s predecessor) volcano mini boss
Smashing, baby! SMASHING!!
As someone who’s covered a couple game tunes myself, these are phenomenal work. Definitely the heaviest covers of all Life Force covers.
Check out Vomitron. Not saying they are better or not, but definitely heavier.
I like both equally.
This used to be my least favorite Vomitron song until it eventually grew on me. I absolutely love Vomitron and Nestalgica.

This game has a ost…. Hallucinant!
I love this game!

This is f*cking bad ass!

The way the arcade should've sounded
