The Russian Air Force was extremely ineffectual. Extreme bravery by the air crews but betrayed by poor training, poor coordination in the air, poor recon, and unprofessional leadership and also aircraft poorly armed. Massive losses with very little to show for it. Most of the ordnance was wasted. Not greatly different today.

Great that you can write "this" now thank you Soviet pilots who fought so you can live these days and comment..Glory to Soviet pilots who fought the Evil Nazi forces and have won in WW2 against hordes of Nazi Germany Hitler forces and Dutch and other collaborators with those who shot unarmed women and children from the air, bombed Australian soldgiers using Ju88 bombers and destroyed Soviet villages. Be they condemned these Evil Nazi pilots and their generations for Ethernity

The plane at 9:07 looks like a Supermarine Spitfire from the UK

It is a same fighter like in begining (with bombers) MiG-3. It is not looks like Spitfire, it is much shorter, with long "nose". Google it.

Mig 3. British Spitfires didn't get to USSR until November 1942 and aircrews had to train. Prior to that, Britain starting from September 1941 were sending just Hurricanes to USSR which were becoming surplus but all Spitfires were still considered vital to the war effort in Great Britain in 1942 although enough were around by that time that they could equip American Squadrons as well as start sending Spitfires to Russia.
