In truth, the people who did the work on the redesign, the people who sold the materials for the redesign and the people who will maintain the property when it's sold, all have food, housing and health care because of it.
Dale Mack In truth, probably all of those people are out of work today. They’ll loose their health care if they haven’t already. They may loose their houses. They may rely on a food bank for meals. But the owner of the home won’t loose a thing.
Whether or not one likes the aesthetics, design of the house shows someone who appreciates historic elements, which are in warm tones and are not gaudy.
I have no idea how I got here, but I enjoyed looking. I love all the shades of green and gold in the house. You can appreciate a house without it being your style.
LadyEquipped I am also a minimalist in many aspects of my life. But I appreciate a residence that looks like people actually live in it. The current trend towards sterile stark white with endless bare surfaces only remind me of an operating room. This house’s decor and furnishings invite me to sleep on the beds, to sit on the chairs - to live there and bask in comfort.
Helenaville Snow often turns to ice right after it falls, at least it does here in the Northeast. So you would have a radiant heated sidewalk to eliminate excess ice/snow, or moisture and avoid having to walk or possibly slip and fall on ice. It’s a safety convenience. What if you have someone who is older or a handicapped guest who has trouble walking coming to visit your home on a snowy/icy day?
Very beautiful. Reminds me of my hometown row homes in Madison, Indiana. Same era of architecture I imagine, early 1800s. We also have three story spiral staircases in many homes. Lovely.
Nice. I especially like all the gardening. I had always thought of NYC as concrete. I like how this destroyed that myth. Beautiful home. The outside lighting at night is inviting. Lots of nice elements.
Beautifully well kept...Contrary what many think, not every home needs too much modernization and updates...I am glad to see homes with timeless decor, beautifully detailed wood work, stone work, demonstrating pure craftsmanship very well!
I can't believe all the haters on here! This is a beautiful example of preserving the homes 19th century heritage. It would be the height of tackiness to go in to a home from this time period and and rip everything out so you can replace it with glass and metal everything; furnishing it with sleek, modern, minimalist, contemporary art and furnishings. I prefer traditional interiors myself but I have an appreciation for all styles of interior design when they are appropriate for the home. For people to be so small minded that they can't appreciate any other style other than contemporary is really foolish. America should value it's history more like Europe does. In America everything is just torn down and replaced rather than preserved and celebrated. Very sad!
No one suggested ripping out the 19th century details--that would be shameful. It's just that the result looks like some russian oligarch's idea of a classy home.
I’m amazed at some of the comments of all the many “experts” (no doubt) on taste. As someone who’s had the privilege of being exposed to some of the most beautiful homes in the world, I find this one absolutely exquisite. Well done.
When my children and I walk around, I always show and teach my daughter about these structures which are beautiful, BUT new modern construction is killing the history. It's something you have to take your time and take it all in. BEAUTIFUL
I’m amazed at how perfectly designed the space is, because it could seem stuffy with all those pieces and the classic design. A lot of thought went into that home. It is light, spacious, and above all comfortable.

Somehow this video keeps coming up in my favourites--and when it does, I watch it time and time again. I have to say, Ron Brick is an amazing interior designer. I can appreciate his balance of function and respect for historical details and period furniture. This home is elegant and still feels welcoming. I can see myself entertaining in the dining room with dinners lasting well over 3 hours. You'll be invited, Ron! Great video. Thanks, Darryl P.S. And you know how to properly pronounce "foyer".
Beautiful - Thank you for posting. In my infinite dreams I am going to continue to work hard and purchase something similar for my family. What a great legacy.
Everything I thought it would be! Absolutely beautiful, elegance beyond words. It is shuddering to the imagination. Fortunate enough,,,yes. Thank you for sharing this spectacular home. Peace be there always.🙏🏼
Growing up in Shaker Heights as I have, I find your design lovely! Many choose not to inundate themselves with bright light having spent many hours of the day out in the outside world. Classical music, dim lights with a nice glass of brandy by the stone/Mahogany fireplace is a good end to a long day. Most have never even seen let alone been in a home with a solarium (like most contemporary style loving tree huggers) Wallpaper? That's an expression of those who live there, like paintings on the wall, damned the ones who don't understand it! Just go back to your cold white living spaces designed by Ikea.
Beautiful and very well thought out! So artistically designed. one would feel like they are moving with grace throughout the home, and music is playing, even if it was not! Luxurious! Love the terrace on the roof, and the privacy! Such lovely flowers and trees surrounding it all.
A lot of the decorating is classic, which is different from old fashioned. Having said that, I still think it needs refreshing, mostly in the window treatments.
This is a true definition of "Town House", not the cookie cutter homes we see today. There are many true "townhouses" in NYC, even uptown in the brownstones in Harlem, Brooklyn, and the Bronx. Of course, they are not all at this level, but they are townhouses just the same.
The "town houses" today are built like tents compared to this. There is no comparison. Most other towns that have what they love to call townhouses, are nothing but vinyl, plastic and pressed wood...not worth the ground they sit on.
I'll take pottery barn thank you. I understand it's staying true to a certain period, but I just can't see a person from this time living there comfortably.
The problem is that it doesn't... it looks like someone without knowledge and taste tried to make it look old. The foyer murals look like from the 80s - the 1980s, not the 1880s.
THANK YOU! Your appreciation for the home and willingness to adorn it without desecrating the architecture, as is so common today. Again, thank you! Now if only I could afford such luxurious surroundings. *sigh*
This is one of the best executed interiors I have ever seen. It is elegant yet understated. Usually, design leans too fustian, with charlatans feigning inspiration running the show. Here, nothing is too ostentatious. You have a balance of styles that just feels right for home.
This comment reads like a poorly written piece of AI, thesaurus, mumbo jumbo feigning high intellect. The townhouse features many ornate details showcasing European influences. That plus the dated use of classical music in the background makes this much more emblematic of the stuffiness one associates with Old Money WASPS of the UES than the understated minimalism associated with Modernist, Scandinavian, or Japanese designs.

One little bookshelf. I would add several more. Of course that would make the room much more "dark" and cause several people commenting on here to turn up their noses in disgust.
Everyone has each own taste. I think each rooms are beautiful but the house don't have cohesiveness. It is also too busy. I think for him, it works but for most people it doesn't.
Very elegant and beautiful. Though quite formal, it's very warm with the colors and use of wood. This is so much better than the white on white, sterile cold design, that is popular today. This looks like a lovely home.
Posted by Lidia The place itself is amazing and decorated with so much care for detail, I'm sure to the owne's taste, but...yes, there is a but... if I were to live there I would change the bar's and music room color and Fragonards, so common you find them printed even in 99¢ decorations, take away some of the stuffy wall sconces, window treatments, and bedroom duvet covers and replace them with something more inviting such as Pratesi. Loved the library, kitchen and some of the wall coverings that would go well with other prints in materials besides those ultra classic ones, Basically I would refresh it a little without taking away from the superb quality the place already has. Ahh, excellent idea to have radiant heating in the sidewalk.
This home is decorated in spectacular period style by an avid collector of beautiful things. In this day and age, people think they have "arrived" when they bring home crap from Ikea or Pottery Barn to "furnish" their cheap and uninspired homes. No idea what quality or workmanship is about.
This home looks like someone hog tied Elton John and swung him around in every room. I'll take the wood work but everything else could go!!! I'll stick to my pottery barn Thank you!!
While I’ll never have the money to own a home such as this, I’m happier knowing that I live in a world where such beauty exists.
Here, Here!!!
I’d feel it better about the beauty if millions of people had food, housing, and health care.
In truth, the people who did the work on the redesign, the people who sold the materials for the redesign and the people who will maintain the property when it's sold, all have food, housing and health care because of it.

So lovely.
It reminds me of a french chateau. The dining room is gorgeous and the paintings too.

I loved this house especially since it wasn't covered up in white paint like so many other designers do. It's a beautiful house.
I have no idea how I got here, but I enjoyed looking. I love all the shades of green and gold in the house. You can appreciate a house without it being your style.
absolutely gorgeous! i love how it hasn’t been changed and has not been modernized i would love a home like this.
Your home is absolutely beautiful. The workmanship and care with every detail is remarkable. Thank you for sharing such a lovely home.
It's like living in a castle in the city.......I simply love it.

Good comment.
Phew, finally something besides a ‘tiny house’! Spectacular!

To Be Honest you’re probably a fan of all that hideous modern decor, with no class, taste or style...
Taste is subjective, The house looked heavy and overdone.

The heated sidewalk and that roof terrace sold it for me.
