Pretty easy to score an upgrade on the route with a corporate contract and the highest status. I'd say I get upgraded about 70% of the time from J to F on the route. BA uses F mostly as enticement to choose them for high paying J fares. That's why it's often called the world's best business class.
@@ConorTakesOff funny you should say that, I got a free upgrade from PE on the Singapore Sydney route on the new BA 777 business class back in February. It was very nice but too short, especially overnight. Making up for it in October when I'll be in the Q Suites from Melbourne to Doha.
Good concise review. So refreshing compared to vloggs by Josh Cahill and Noel Phillips, who just talk and talk and talk. Let the vision do the communicating, with added voice over to add context. Your quick pan around the loo and comment of its age was all that is needed, rather than a graphic and indepth review. Keep up the good reviews.
Yes to melon but only if it's ripe. I was on the same route last week (1E) - again a tired old 777 but all in all a very good flight although, yes, there are a few frayed around the edges areas in the first cabin.
When was the flight? JFK-LHR should be new F. Old F is still great! Congrats on the upgrade (Did you ask for the Premium Champagne in Chelsea? Sometimes there is Krug!)
Thanks Connor, flying first on the same flight in a few weeks so was great to get a quick look at the chelsea lounge. It seems very hit and miss whether you get the new or old first class product as they keep swapping aircraft at short notice. Im with you on the melon thing 😂.
Haha I know! It can be hit or miss! I feel pretty confident however that you are likely to receive one of the more up to date products on this route! Regardless, I'm sure you are going to have a fabulous trip! I'm very jealous indeed!
Odds seem to be improving on the odds since BA is in full swing of redoing the cabins on the 777-200Er's Means they are planning to keep them for a while. They don't have enough aircraft on order to replace their large fleet of them is another sign.
07:51 tut tut, please put on shoes when visiting the bathroom. So pleased you were bumped up to first. Thank you for another fantastic review. Please tell me where you accent is from. It is amazing.
I really enjoy your videos Conor, but if I may be so bold, stop describing every room you go into as a 'space' 😁. Looking forward to the next video, as I'm keen to check out the T5 arrivals experience in preparation for my upcoming BA First Class return to Sydney.
Flew BA a week ago JFK to LHR and back. Chelsea Lounge is nice, food was great, but it is dark and dungeon-like with no windows. The staff, as compared with the Concord Longe in London, are listless and appear to be unhappy with their jobs. They do not contribute to the ambiance.
Thanks for sharing. I also fly a lot and never quite understand the excessive consumption of calories in lounges and onboard as I would arrive very bloated! Reducing carb consumption might help you feel more rested on longhaul flights. I think BA First is probably one of the best business class products rather than a true first class experience that other airlines like Emirates, Air France and JAL offer.
It's part of the experience. Not how one should eat everyday but it's an indulgence if you're privileged to fly in international F. I don't really consider JFK-LHR long haul anyway. It's only 6 hours on my flights.
You are an absolute wrongun my man. I watched this video in the hope of seeing the first class menu that I am able to expect in First on my return journey from JFK to LHR. I flew from LHR to JFK in the new First suites on offer and opted for the cold Beef Wellington starter with the Beef Cheeks main followed by the cheese to which I found a little disappointing but, while sitting in an Irish bar just off Times Square pondering in anticipation of what the breakfast offerings are going to be on my return journey, this has left me somewhat disappointed to say the least. I really wanted to see the menu of the return journey so I had at least a general idea of what this would include, however, you just went ahead and decided to skip the choices and offer up your own personal selections. I now feel lost and cheated as to what could have possibly been a wonderful insight as to what awaits me on my return journey back to the UK. I had visions of a full and proper English breakfast but now my hopes and dreams of what could potentially be on offer have well and truly been shattered by your decision to exclude this from your review. Thanks for nothing pal. 😂 On a more positive note though, at least you were able to provide a useful insight of the Chelsea lounge so for that I am extremely grateful. In the meantime, I wish you happy travels going forwards.
Haha, what a comment! I'd posted the menu on my outbound route, so didn't want to bore you, my viewers! Wishing you a fabulous First Class trip soon! :)
UPDATE!!! I was rather disappointed with the Chelsea lounge as it seemed to be smaller than I expected and didn't even have any windows. I feel cheated. The champagne was extremely nice as it was Krug but I can't help but feel disappointed about it all as I expected a lot more. They didn't even have a cloak room to store my bag, however, the shower didn't disappoint as it was a really nice addition to my first experience of the Chelsea lounge. I just wish I had taken the opportunity of visiting the lounge next door to see what that was like but I just had too much work to catch up on so I shall perhaps experience that next time. I will be flying to Mexico City in First again in April next year on the 787-9 so will have to see what they have to offer if anything at all. For me, the Chelsea lounge was a major disappointment. Anyway, happy flying to you all.
Dear BA, Stop serving fusion nonsense food and go back to British basics. I would love a good Roast or a full english in the air. Don't overlook the obvious trying to be too clever!
Great report. Just got to the dizzy heights of BA silver. Looking forward to the upgrades lol

Love this! Top flight review, thank you for sharing! ❤
Always nice to have a free upgrade :)
I love eating melon. You can have the strawberries. Non-rev retired traveler here. Taking notes for future jaunts. Thx for your posts. 👍✈️
Pleased I found you. Great video and good knowledge of everything. Loved your voice. Look forward to following you.
That steak looked good! 😛
Haha, I barely had room to finish it all!
Sweet upgrade, I’ve travelled first only once but find the pods not so private as the business class 1
Class review as before. Very sincere. Big fan of the avgeek parts included! ✈️
Thank you fellow AVGeek! :)
Good lad Conor. Always nice to get an upgrade - pity it hadn't been on a longer run, but nice all the same.
Agreed! A Singapore/Sydney perhaps :P

I never knew this was a thing! I'll know for next time for sure! Better start saving my pennies :)
@@ConorTakesOff Oh it’s ridiculous that you have to ask for it (unlike LHR CCR) but hey. 😀
@@seanp7dc haha what is the world coming to! Krug on tap, I say. Sadly I don't have enough avios to be passing through again any time soon haha!
Thanks for a great video. From someone who loves melon.
My only comment. What's wrong with melon? Melon is a fine refreshing start to a morning meal.

The business class screens look bigger than the ones in First Class… and the seats look pretty good as well…

Yes to melon 😀
I'm come to like it myself but younger I was like WTF..lol

Did Tom get an upgrade or was he left in premium ?
