I started on the Aulos and later on switched to the Yamaha. In my opinion the differences between the two is not so noticeable for beginners, but the Yamaha is great for more advanced musicians as it is very flexible on the high F to C. The Aulos squeeks much easier there as well as on the low f and g. Overall the differences are more noticeable for the player than the audience.
I have the Aulos Symphony Sopranino and love it!! The workmanship for such a small, cheap instrument is outstanding!! Love the wood effect look of the Yamaha!!

I currently require a decent plastic alto so I don't wear out my Moeck Rottenburgh (it is pear wood unfortunately and I'm told pearwood doesn't last well with a lot of playing), and really cannot decide whether to get an Aulos or a Yamaha (or a Zen-on Bressan). I am a fairly quiet player who doesn't use a lot of breath pressure and wonder if the Yamaha instruments might suit me? How is the stretch for the right hand with the Yamaha? I have small stiff hands (stiffness due to myofascial pain) The Moeck tests me to the limits whereas my old Aulos 209b was a bit smaller to play, and more comfortable!! Very hard to tell them apart, even with headphones on. But how do they compare when it comes to clogging? My Yamaha alto is a devil for clogging. I've yet to play an Aulos Yamaha but I think I would always favour Aulos

I have both the soprano and alto, very sweet sounding, close to boxwood. What are you playing at 0:37? Also, do you have a ecodear Alto? If yes, how does it compare with this yamaha alto? I think I prefer the canvas pouches than fake leather. The blue colour is nice. I hate the green colour of the pouches for the ecodear models though. But still prefer canvas sensorily over leather...
Hi. Thank you for your interest. I noticed a difference between the Yamaha YRA314BII flute and the rosewood Moeck. The position of the holes is different, the Yamaha has the holes closer like the Fehr than the Moeck even if the Moeck has a decidedly different sound brighter, however the Yamaha even if made of plastic is not then so bad. What do you think about it? Marco
Every instrument is different and this doesn’t mean that is better than the others. Good plastic instruments, such as Yamaha 300 series, are very reliable and even professionals use the for practicing on in some special occasions. My next wooden soprano I think might be a moeck Rottenburgh in palisander

Hi Marco. The Greensleeves divisions I’m playing in this video if from the first volume of the “division flute “ book, Amadeus editions. I think you can find it also in imslp to download it. It is a 1706 book including various famous tunes and their divisions (variations) by various composers.
Is a variation of La Follia theme.from the Division Flute. Actually this is not as it is written 😅it’s kind of my variation because the original is in 3/4 and here I’m playing in 6/8 😁

I have three soprano flutes a Yamaha YRA 314BIII, a Moeck in maple and the last one the Schneider, then I have three alto a Yamaha always like the soprano YRA314BIII an old Fehr in pear wood and the Moeck in rosewood, I sent it during the week to Moeck for the revision also because being of precious wood I don't want to waste it while the Fehr I revise for me it is almost 70 years old but it still works well then I paid for it on Ebay only € 50. Which type of flute do I prefer? Without a doubt the alto for the low and at the same time harmonic sound. What flutes do you have? I live in Italy and you?
More like a plastic head on a wooden body(if it fits), that’d probably make more of a difference in how the body vibrates apposed to where the wind splits yea?

funny, it feels to me the Yamaha has a fuller sound in the lower notes. I feel the Aulos is more steady and dynamic, but I find the Yamaha closer to the wooden sound
@@turnipsociety706 Aulos sacrifices thick tone for this buzzy airy sound some call reedy sounding. The yamaha is warmer but the Aulos has more character to my ears. Some call the reedy sound plasticky, but really it’s just more airy in how I hear it. Yamaha is good too, but too pure for me
the Aulos feels better in the staccato, responds well to the tonguing. The timbre of the Yamaha seems to be fuller. I would play the Aulos for dynamic pieces, the Yamaha when I am looking to a beautiful round sound, especially in lower register

Ambos instrumentos me parecen buenos pero faltó la prueba definitiva: con las notas agudas, sobretodo con el fa# agudo; tengo una Yamaha YRA28B III y esa nota suena sobreafinada tanto en la posición principal como en las opcionales. También tengo una alto Aulos 309E que no presenta ese problema.
@@nickperpirakis2211 I can’t find a single person to compare them both on UA-cam. You could get a ton of views if you did so. Most are comparing Haka with a Yamaha and not Haka against Stmphony or even better with all three.

The first I bought was the Yamaha one, but since I got into a consort I bought the symphony because all the members of this consort have all the range of the Symphony family, from sopranino to bass.otherwise I wouldn’t change it. I’m very curious about Zen On and Kulossa altos as well

To be honest I haven’t the same opinion. But for her favor I bought an Aulos soprano, alto and sopranino( although I had them Alain Yamaha). The tenor I didn’t change it’s not a cheap instrument 😅. And when I had to bus bass I chose he Aulos one( knick head)
In my opinion, the Aulos 509B Symphony is a big no no... More harder for articulation and really bad in faster playing. Yamaha YRA-314BIII is great. Aulos has got very good recorders in Sopranino and Tenor, but in Alto, I prefer the Yamaha.
I love the Aulos sopranino. In between the two altos, to be honest I prefer the Yamaha one too. I have also the Yamaha tenner and I love it.soon if we come a video comparing Yamaha and Aulos tenors 😉

Among the Aulos consort I have, the sopranino is my favorite. I’d say that in Yamaha I like more the mat finish than the wood effect.

Do you feel any difference on the amount of air to blow? Personally I feel more confortable when there's some resistance on the blow.
Both have narrow windways, so the amount of air is the same.

Man I really like the sound of the Yamaha Alto, but I don't wanna have to relearn fingerings again since it's in a different key.
The aulos sounds better to me. Richer and more vibrant sound, at least at my cell's phone speaker!
Aulos have richer sound, but sometimes sounds more plastic than the Yamaha

Pure as in, sounds like a keyboard sound on a digital piano.
I hear no difference. I would like to choose the chipper one.

My personal preference is the Yamaha one. It has just to do with the feeling while playing and touching this instrument.

I got the aulos 309. Does the second octave D give you problems? In mine I have to glissate them from C so that that high D sounds.
