Also, why are you recommending over 1000w for 16 pin? Why would the type of cable matter? Unless overclocking I've heard 1000w is fine.
EK are producing a dual (front & back BOTH ACTIVE plates - so looks amazing from top and bottom with RGB) water block set for the RXT4090 founder's edition, called the "EK-Quantum Vector² FE RTX 4090 D-RGB ABP Set - Nickel + Plexi". Water blocks reduce the size of the card so that it would even fit in a small form factor case with a custom water loop, as well as gaining all the other water-cooling features (best possible temperatures giving the card the thermal headroom to CONSTANTLY boost to maximum speeds [so long as you also have a beefy PSU] in a way no fans would, silent running, reduced power passing through the card, greater stability and greater potential for future overclocking). The latest CPUs also run incredibly hot so benefit from water cooling, with the fastest DDR5 RAM also benefit from a water-cooling block as well. Could you please ask ASUS ROG is they will produce a Strix RTX4090 in partnership with EK so that it can be bought with the same front & back active water blocks, for the best performance whilst also fixing the "too big for the majority of cases" issue? I plan on getting a Cooler Master HAF 700 case and installing three 420mm radiators (top & side & bottom) which, when paired with the front two 200mm fans & rear two 120mm fans, should allow me to cool even super-hot gear to near room temperatures, I hope. I NORMALLY go for the ROG STRIX OC card for every graphics card I get, but having seen the results you got, unless ASUS produce a version which is full pre-water-locked (active plates on front and back) for sale, then I am going to just get the Founders edition and water block that instead. They should also consider changing to display port 2.1

All of the 4090’s are pretty much the same from a real world usage standpoint. Pretty much comes down to which one you like the look of tbh. It’s kinda like a car model, you have a barebones and fully loaded version. Speed wise they are the same. One might be a few more fps on a chart but in real world gaming your not going to be able to tell the difference if one was a few more fps or not lol
Owning one myself I’d say I don’t like the power plug the most , it’s crap position wise , almost deliberately awful. Also the mounting bracket should be full ditch as it is a heavy card I’d also say the 4 into 1 adaptor is shite as well for a £2500 gpu, I’d have expected a better power cable. Evga seems to be the on,y gpu maker who thought about the power plug and they ain’t bloody making one now…. I so wish Asus would think that little bit deeper about the whole card , not just 95% of it sadly which is what they did The blue and red on the blower side also isn’t for everyone. The build quality is great , it’s quiet and it’ll sit at 3045 MHz all day at 65degC so I’ve clearly got a decent result in the silicon lottery but that power laugh position is a dog , a total dog
Clearly don't like the look. The 30 series is the best one so far imo, especially the white version. The price is insane as well. I love ASUS products but I'm seriously thinking of skipping their 40-STRIX card. Might go MSI Suprim X this time!

yeah I hate that this is not plain black or black/silver like the NORMAL ROG Strix cards usually are (except the white edition and special edition cards). I want a plain black one not one with blue and red plastered on it unless I want a blue and red theme and only that theme I do not want that colour theme plastered on one of my PC parts especially since I don't really want that theme and want most of my colouring in the setup to be done solely by the RGB lighting alone because that way I can change the theme if I really want to
oh that's small, looks bloody good though but not worth the extra 500 quid and you still get that crap power lead, nvidia need too bin that connection off or send out a better lead too the ones who bought the cards
Lol could they have made it any larger? 5080 will be the size of a suitcase. Crazy price too lol. All these OEMs became addicted to high covid/mining prices
@@Safetytrousers Well, the issue I have with reviews on any site where the maker sends the card is twofold. 1. The card is hand-picked. Many times I have seen reviewers get OC on the cards sent that most people cannot. 2. Because the card is sent to them, what things cannot be mentioned? I have a feeling because of the "PSUs can affect coil whine ", and so on, reviewers might not be able to mention such things as its can change from system to system, so perhaps they are locked into facts. Plus, if the cards hand picked, they no doubt look for a card that's a "good" example of it.....that's what I would do if I was them. I hate the fact that it has red and blue accents the ROG line is supposed to be plain black or black with hints of silver (except for the white editions and limited edition variants) and all the colouring is supposed to come from the RGB lighting alone but this gen they went with a police siren look and I hate that I like the ROG Strix 3090 design better than the 4090 and when I say that its just the colour mostly not the actual design
Please make water cooled build in Louqe Ghost S1 case or LIAN LI A4-H2O A4 and please try EK Quantum Velocity AM4
Can this fit in a vetroo al-mesh 7C case?
All of the 4090’s are pretty much the same from a real world usage standpoint. Pretty much comes down to which one you like the look of tbh. It’s kinda like a car model, you have a barebones and fully loaded version. Speed wise they are the same. One might be a few more fps on a chart but in real world gaming your not going to be able to tell the difference if one was a few more fps or not lol
it all comes down to which one is in stock near you XD...for me it was the Tuf Gaming OC
Not really but ok
Cool beans Thanks Guv!
Owning one myself I’d say I don’t like the power plug the most , it’s crap position wise , almost deliberately awful.
Also the mounting bracket should be full ditch as it is a heavy card
I’d also say the 4 into 1 adaptor is shite as well for a £2500 gpu, I’d have expected a better power cable.
Evga seems to be the on,y gpu maker who thought about the power plug and they ain’t bloody making one now….
I so wish Asus would think that little bit deeper about the whole card , not just 95% of it sadly which is what they did
The blue and red on the blower side also isn’t for everyone.
The build quality is great , it’s quiet and it’ll sit at 3045 MHz all day at 65degC so I’ve clearly got a decent result in the silicon lottery but that power laugh position is a dog , a total dog
It really irritates me that they put the power plug on the front of the card.. WTF are they thinking?
What's the recommended psu for this card?
1000watt
Clearly don't like the look. The 30 series is the best one so far imo, especially the white version. The price is insane as well. I love ASUS products but I'm seriously thinking of skipping their 40-STRIX card. Might go MSI Suprim X this time!
I've been looking for this card or the Suprim X since launch. With the news about the new AMD cards, hopefully the scalpers will turn there attention to team red
@@NoSend901 Man... same here. I'm looking daily and cannot find a retail 4090. It's all scalper nation everywhere. What doesn't help are Nvidia limiting their release while influencing the 30 series sell...
I am willing to go team red only if the 7900 xtx performance beats the 4090. I want what's best, regardless of the company.
Worst case, I'd wait for the inevitable 4090 ti or maybe even the 5090 in 2 or so years.
@@starfuxer the new AMD cards are slower than the 4090, hopefully Nvidia will release more cards with the new AMD cards coming out
@@NoSend901 Aye! Just saw the AMD show. The 7900 XTX aims at the 4080 performance wise. The 4090 is pretty much the top of the line! I just hope the availability will improve and fast !
@@starfuxer Also, we have a 99% chance of a white Strix in the near future
how come rtx 4090 fe has better fps in control while clocked lower ? wtf
Over clocking is where this shines. Stock, not that impressive except for the noise levels.
Trust Tom to show this card off properly! I've changed my mind: if I were buying, the aesthetics (Apart from the IO plate) would swing it for me over the Suprim. Asus might still get my pennies; but Ngreedia + price? Nope, I think I'll be on the Radeon train.
Będę kupował w grudniu 7900XT pozdrawiam
One of the reasons why I always buy the biggest cases. Got the Coolermaster Cosmos II
I really like how this card looks
Vertical mount has entered the chat....
In the pursuit of PCMR, it irony that I cant fit my strix 4090 in my Lian Li PCMR case. WTH
first time i go Tuf over strix... that plexi at the end just gives cheap look.... still struggling with a 1060, i'll take the unicorn puke any time.... :P
good lord... the fingerprints on the front of that case 🤣
The old strix was way prettier imo. I would go for the tuf version. Keep up the great work bro and stay safe.
yeah I hate that this is not plain black or black/silver like the NORMAL ROG Strix cards usually are (except the white edition and special edition cards). I want a plain black one not one with blue and red plastered on it unless I want a blue and red theme and only that theme I do not want that colour theme plastered on one of my PC parts especially since I don't really want that theme and want most of my colouring in the setup to be done solely by the RGB lighting alone because that way I can change the theme if I really want to
Yeah, carry an umbrella so Covid doesn't get on you. Lame.
That’s pretty good for strix. There £2400 at OCUK
I dare you to do a vertical mount of that brick!
a better question would be will it fit for ur pocket
the interface of the 4090 is very fragil. you should not rattle around with it in the case like this.
How is the coil whine?
Mine has severe coil whine but it doesn’t bother me while gaming, just don’t have your pc right next to your ear and you’ll be fine
@@AYOUB1080plus This is my point, I can hear the COIL WHINE from 4 METERS away.....
@@nomadzz6166 that's impressive hearing. I would think a good case would muffle that significantly.
@@deanwilliams433 I would think that a GPU costing on average 2K wouldn't have coil whine issues.
Nice.. i need a card that fills up my Level 20xt
oh that's small, looks bloody good though but not worth the extra 500 quid and you still get that crap power lead, nvidia need too bin that connection off or send out a better lead too the ones who bought the cards
girth and massive opening, we still talking about the gpu lol
Lol could they have made it any larger? 5080 will be the size of a suitcase. Crazy price too lol. All these OEMs became addicted to high covid/mining prices
How's yours for coil whine gaming-wise?
He said the GPU was very quiet. I think he would have mentioned any whine.
The reason I ask is there are forums full of 4090 owners with bad coil whine with Asus and MSI being hit the worst.
@@mrmrgaming He can't report something he doesn't experience. I had 3x 3090 in waterblocks (one now) and they all had zero whine.
@@Safetytrousers Well, I have had five 4090s.
2x Suprim. 1x Asus Tuf. 1x Asus Strix OC. 1x Zotac Extreme.
The Zotac had coil whine, but it was passable...but it had poor fans. All the others had bad coil whine.
I and others did everything to make sure it was the card, and we all got the same results.
I find more people with coil whine than not, but every now and then, someone replies with, "Mine is perfect"
I think rog rtx 3000 series looks better than rog 4000 series
if you like coil whine then its a perfect card
I’d love to take that shroud off and paint it black like the 7900 xtx, get rid of that hideous blue & red these idiots put on their. And they should reseat the power connector at the bottom that fits case grommets better at the bottom of the GPU line the EVGA card on a true vertical mount (thermaltake tower 900 is a perfect example to avoid GPU sag.)
i like rog rtx 3000 series design more...
Wait a tic! My 4090/4080 didn’t fit in my mAtx cases! So I sent them back for a refund! Gonna skip this gen and AMD’s gen this time around! Cheers mate😊
i just had to bend my case to fit a 3060ti strix imagine this
Benchmarking this with such an inferior cpu makes 0 sense sorry to say. But the bemchmark cpu needs an upgrade asap. Because your data is very different from other testers 😕. Clearly cpu bottleneck
Its what we have tested all the old GPU's on and we didnt have time to retest 20 GPU's before launch (takes almost a whole day per GPU) but there are plans in motion now :)
That's the one from your room!
It won't fit in my case because they aren't even on store shelves.
i can tell you the Strix i got ive had to 3075 Mhz constant and runs at 65deg C, its a beast and wipes the floor with my 3090 Strix that is now in my sons PC
I suspect it would clock a ot higher but i derent push it any harder due to the pathetic 4 into 1 adaptor that i simply do not trust not to melt.
As regards power draw its actually far more efficent then my 3090 is and puts out loads more FPS for a less less electricity
Ok, my chinese Zotac 4090 runs 3090 Mhz constant also at 65C.
@@sorvex9 i worry about zotac fan quality, i only ever bought a zotac card once and the fan bearings went after about a year. This was before is was easy to get replacment fans. The 4090 for me is the first card that is pointless water cooling
@@JohnOLooney Yeah, my point was that it is also pointless to buy the big coolers like Strix. They all perform the same. The fans should be covered by the 5 year warranty, if anything happens.
@@sorvex9id have bought the evga if they had made one, the power plug position alone was enough , why they put it where they do is beyond me
Just don't like the Republic of Gamers brand name. Sounds so naff to me.
It looks fucking huge in the case.
Mate Why Is IT £25% More ?? DOH!
A No Brainer BUY RTX STANDARD YES?
PPS Using A i7800K Running at 5GHZ Is A No NO?? Just Asking Mate.:)
My 4090 fit in my case with a 1/4 inch to spare lol.
No, but the 7900xtx will 😎
Oh my god... its a giant.
More RGB, please!
