I loved your comparison to the Divergent series. I think that is so accurate. Overall, I think Fourth Wing is a great popcorn read and is very entertaining. The pacing for the 2nd book was off, but I am just hoping it had middle book syndrome. I have the 3rd book pre-ordered and want to see where it takes us. It was so fun watching your experience of it and setting up your journal! ❤
A popcorn read is a great description! I just finished Iron Flame and I can see the pacing complaint … I think it helped that I was fresh off Fourth Wing!
People can say what they want about Fourth Wing, but it got me out of the winter blues last year and I usually like minimal spice in my books. I agree with your thoughts on Fourth Wing. It’s fast paced with characters you can root for, the setting is immersive, and overall it’s a fun adventure! The second book was a good time too. Happy reading!

@@bookmama26 finished it this morning and I just loved it! I felt the same as you in that I didn't want to put it down so I did get the audible even though I hardly ever listen to audio books because my mind can't concentrate so well and I feel like I miss things but I wanted to be able to listen while doing other things or else nothing would have gotten done around the house OR it would have taken way too long to finish. LOL I gave it 5 star because it did all the things a 5 star does for me. I was invested in the characters, I loved the slow burn and tension between Violet and Xaden, I cried because of course IFYKYK AND that plot twist at the end!!!! I already grabbed Iron Flame from KU and I'm seriously excited for the new release...however, now I have a problem, I'll want all the original hardcovers to match with the 3rd one. LOL
Love your journal setup, it is nice to see all your goals in one place. My main reading goal in 2025 is to progress with every series I started (and liked) - it will be so nice to return to these friends. I quit 4 series, but still in progress with 23 (i.e. Bloodmarked - I will definitely read it with you!).
Love that goal!! I will let you know when I get to Bloodmarked (planning on either Feb or March). Are you in the reading challenge discord, that is the best place for me to buddy read … it’s pretty much the only place I check regularly 🤣
Thanks for sharing your start to the year with us. I am personally not a fan of Fourth Wing. I did not like Violet or the world building, so I couldn’t stick with it. But I seem to me in the minority on this one.

I just read it and am about 145pgs into iron flame. I'm loving it! But I cried hard in ch 36. Also I giggle at all the banter.
