I just realized. When Barry talks to his mum as she dies, she in that moment realized that the person she was talking too all day was her son. Bro that's such good writing for the CW damn

I wonder when in the scripting process, where they told this was going to be the final season and/or how many episodes there would be in the season, because there is a possible chance that earlier episodes were scripted before knowing either 1) it would be the final season, or 2) how many episodes the season would have. Both Supergirl and Arrow had foreknowledge about exactly how long their final seasons would be, while this kept changing. This was renewed for a ninth season in March 2022, and was not officially announced to be the final season until August. Wallace was initally expecting a 20 episode season, Grant signed a contract for a 15 episode season, then made to a 13 episode season.
Reminds me of the final seasons of Big Bang Theory and B99. Shitty seasons overall, but damn, are the final episodes great.
I like how this lines up and recontextualizes with how Nora reacts to Adult Barry being her son all the way back in Season 1.
I wonder if she knew they were from different times.

Like you said in season 1 when Barry went back took his mask off and when Nora was dying and she said notice that Barry look just like her father .
So in some way that had to be going through her mind how this guy can look just like her dad .
Can we talk about how amazing the Allens are as people? From their perspective Bart was just a stranger, yet they worried about him and treated him like family.
I don’t think they would’ve done this for a stranger they instinctively knew that Barry was their kid.

They are one of the best written parents. This whole episode showed actual good writing. Wild how they fumbled so much

Sometimes the worst things happen to the best kinds of people, it’s sad but it’s not because some divine power like God doesn’t care or because it’s fate, it just happens, it’s just tragedy. Tragedy is a part of life and it teaches us that we can’t control everything or what happens around us, we’re not Gods, it also reminds us of our own mortality. It teaches us to not dwell on the past but to move forward and to remember, mourn and honour the people we lose, to take them with us on our own journey
No one deserves to be murdered, but sadly its part of living in a broken world. Free will gives us a great capacity for love, but it also bestows upon us an almost-equal level of hate...and when we give in to the latter, tragedy always follows.
Barry got to say what he would say to his parents if he got the chance to see them one last time, which obviously and ironically was happening and they didn’t even realize that he was talking about them. 1:31 Plus, the hug makes the moment all the more meaningful and emotionally heartwarming.

this scene, this scene is so essential to barrys character, i think this is what he fully needed to push him past his parents death and how he gets his closure to let go all i have to say is this final arc is starting off strong. Also cobalt blue is here baby!

The first time I watched this I wondered why Henry and Nora would go back to the hospital to chat (beyond being a convenient place for the writers to have "Bart" find them since he can't go to their house). Then I realized Henry and Nora are the kind of people who would make a last ditch effort for "Bart" to find them again if he wants help and that warmed my heart.
So in this timeline, does Nora’s final moments with season 1 Barry make her realize that this “Bart” she just met is her son? And does Henry realize “ Bart” was Barry as he saw him grow up into looking like the same guy especially after he found out Barry is the Flash and can time travel.
When S1 talks to Nora, I always thought she acted too familiar with him, so she knew. And Henry probably understood during the S1 finale when Barry told him he could time travel.
I’m so glad in this episode we got to hear some of the s1 music again and relive the same memories and experiences as the first seasons
That was so sad and good that he spent his final moments with this parents❤😢❤😢
So basically in season 1 Henry already knew Barry was The Flash because he saw him that night.
Also that could make more sense his last sentences before he died in season from Zoom, cause he already knew he was going to die and he just wanted to remind Barry he loves him.
This emotional moment with Barry and his parents, truly seems Hallmark worthy in my book. Loved it emencly!❤

This was a nice scene for Barry to say goodbye to his parents. A way to say goodbye without breaking history. It was all nice... until he is faced by the very thing that brought him here, the Blue Flame crystal. Man, villains can't take a break after tended goodbyes. Good luck Barry. Find your way home and may your future be a bright one. Thanks to anyone who reads this.

The only thing which kept the past few seasons watchable was Grant's acting. He's always been the standout even in the bad parts.

He does. Later in the episode, it's revealed this Barry is the one who stopped season 1 Barry from saving Nora. So afterward, season 1 Barry would've still comforted Nora as she died.

Wouldn't Barry's dad (When he was locked up and found out Barry was the Flash) put that night together and told Barry he actually met him in 2000?
After 15-16 years the details of what "Bart" looked like are probably hazy in Henry's mind, Barry wouldn't have had context either so they might even have discussed it offscreen as just a footnote in the story of the night Nora died.

Coming back to this I realize not only the reason Nora trusted him in the end but also Henry, he in future seeing his son all grown up realizes that he's the flash and he travels back to this night. This could explain why he doesn't want Barry to do it in the future (season 1 finale) because of all the events that played in leading up toward this
i haven’t watched this show since season 5 I believe (the cockroach guy with the lightning bolt knife). But if this is the day his parents die, I find it weird all this happens and than Henry doesn’t conclude a connection with the mysterious guy with the murder of his wife. Just seems weird that’s the first thing I’d think about will sitting in prison if I were him

Barry's full name is Bartholomew Henry Allen, which is often shortened to Barry OR Bart. He likely didn't want to mention his short-name to his mother who already calls him by said short-name, and so he went with Bart

Wait wait wait hold on and something I am just now realizing: with older Barry interacting with them here and with Joe what is the logical explanation that their older versions didn't I guess say something or suspect Barry had something to him? Also wouldn't Barry have known to not talk to anyone for any potential timeline changes?
I am sure there is a reasonable and logical explanation but I feel with him interacting then throughout the years Henry and Joe would have remembered those moments.
