My parents were one of the first generations of Asaoins who came to the UK, my Dad eventually went blind due to his Diabetes, but he always spoke of his childhood and the time when India and Pakistan were at war, the British Raj, somehow Noor Jehan's songs played a huge part of his childhood, he would tell me stories of the impact of her songs on Army Personnel, he was a huge fan of hers, I can remember listening to her records when I was young and just her voice used to make my Dad light up, I now have that reaction, and my children love her songs
