    TESTIMONIALS
    ‘Started hitting the moves laid out in these courses the very next class...extremely uplifting to have such a quick improvement in my game’ - Houston, TX
    ‘I’m the only white belt in the academy doing these moves…I’m suddenly competing at a blue belt and above level…thanks Coach Tom’ - LA, California
    ‘Some of the best strategies you are going to see for control and submission’ - London, UK
    ‘The detailed way Prof Tom breaks down his moves into the absolute essentials is just next level for me. This is absolute gold‘ - Sydney, Australia
    ‘Most of the guys at my Academy, have about 60lbs on me, but since purchasing your ‘Kimura Attack system’ and ’14 days’ everything has changed. I feel much more confident, roll better and the guys on the mat have commented on the same. Thanks, Coach Tom’ - Dallas, TX
    ‘I know you have your names for your courses, but I’ve renamed them the ‘Zero to hero’ courses, I went from getting constantly owned, to now being completely dominant on the mat in no time at all’ - San Diego, California
    ‘I use the course material heaps, and just recently put it into action at a local comp, walked away with double gold. No one was more surprised than me! - Miami, Florida
    ‘As a new white belt, these classes have helped me so much, Prof Tom’s technique, the details, and his attitude. I love how Prof. Tom shows the ‘mistakes people make’ and then shows the correct way of doing things. The only one I have ever seen do this’ - New York, New York
    Great videos, great instruction. I just watch them for hours…Melbourne, Australia
    ‘The instructional saved me big time at a recent comp, my opponent was def more experienced, but that was ok, coz I had Prof Tom’s video in my brain. Nailed it and scored gold’ - Colorado, Denver
    ‘All of it. Everything you show in your awesome videos are now my ‘go to techniques’. Thanks for your vids Prof, Tom’ - Houston, TX
    ‘You really have to watch every second of the video because Prof, Tom drops these little nuggets of gold throughout the course. And they make ALL the difference. The only one doing this. Keep them coming Professor’ - NY, New York
    ‘If I could only be taught from one person, Prof Tom would be it. I can’t wait to train in person one day’ - Dallas, TX
    ‘Went to a recent competition with these videos fresh in my mind. I knew I had an edge and the confidence this gave me was unreal. Got the gold. All submission wins! - LA, California

    To counter the last escape, as he/she pulls your arm over their head, it leaves their closest arm there for an arm bar. Learnt that yesterday :)

    Hi Professor Tom,
    Just wanted to reach out and Thank you for such great content. I was able to use this escape combo last night to fend off a bow and arrow from a superior training partner who had finished me two consecutive training sessions with the B&A , Thanks for that. I 'd love to see a video on tips to avoid or reduce collar grips from turtle, I'm a slower guy to begin with, my problem comes from escaping from side control or mount into turtle where my opponent will get grips keeping top pressure while tripodding and slowly improve them until sinking in a choke of varying varieties, Thanks in advance, any help will be greatly appreciated.

    Is it possible to make a video showing how to escape the bow and arrow from mount? I get caught in that one a lot and I don't see any videos out there on it. Thank you so much!

      @@TheGrapplingAcademy If you are successful in the first layer of defence - grabbing the tricep, is the escape the same as the last layer of defence or do you need them to have cut the angle?

      its pretty close to impossible, if they get a tight first hand grip, but ive done it, but dame its freaking hard.. not sure about the last move here, if some one is pulling your leg and choking you, its pretty hard to grab the guys elbow and tuck your head under, but never tried, so ill give it a whirl , i like to put my self in self defence, allot of bjj are bigger and never learned to defend, i am a small guy, so i can escape, every one complains i am hard to get,

    • @craigu3
      @craigu3 6 років тому +2

      You are absolutely correct and I was thinking the same thing initially but it's worth mentioning that there are double-under variations that look an awful lot like "here, triangle me." I've been a purple belt for just over a year and personally, I no longer use the deep-dive style double-under set up (both arms under the legs grasping the belt or gable grip) as Tom does at 04:23. The reason is that it seems to leave my neck too open for quick chokes from higher level guys. Instead, I have adjusted my technique to a one arm under and the other with a solid pant grip right at the inside of the knee (which is possibly what Tom has with his left hand at 02:51). From there, that left grip is used to pin the opponents right leg to the floor, setting up a super powerful pass. +keenancornelius has a great video instructional on this version that you might have seen: ua-cam.com/video/s29JviJXtFI/v-deo.html

    Its something I guess, but because most of us know that getting your head out is the key to escape, we all learn to grab that collar and lock our elbow down close to our side - there's no way they can pop their head out , and once it's locked down it's too late. The best escape or the best way to avoid is soon as they get a grip on that collar, sink down as far as you can tucking the chin down. Theres ways to prevent that as well but I find it's pretty effective.

  • @trevber
    @trevber 7 років тому

    he never tried to get the other collar thats not a bow n arrow which is basic for bow n arrow choke

    • @TheGrapplingAcademy
      @TheGrapplingAcademy  7 років тому +4

      I think you may be referring to a double collar choke which I personally find much easier to escape from due to the decreased leverage. Defeating the double collar choke is all about lapel protection and hand fighting. With the common competition-popular variation shown, the torque is so high on your spine that you must know how to act and act fast! Coach Tom
