Moin aus Schleswig-Holstein. Der Norden rockt! Gruß und Kuss an Dänemark, Schweden, Norwegen, aber auch an meine regionalen Nachbarn Mecklemburg-Vorpommern (ein wunderschönes Land)
The song Mother is not a song about a human mother but about Eivør's nation, the Faroe Islands. It is common for Faroese, regardless of where they are in the world, to feel that their mother, their nation, the Faroe Islands, calls them home. The Faroese have a very strong bond with their nation. So no matter where in the world they live, their mother continues to call them home. That is why all the images in the video are from Eivør's nation, the Faroe Islands. Which you didn't look at as much while the video was playing ;-) You were focused on the song and the instruments with your eyes closed which is understandable. You are always positive and intrigued and it's great to see.
As said in the intro, the poster of the live video misidentified the song (and Suzi and Travis carried that over to the video title). The earlier song Føroyar Mín Móðir (2000) is indeed about the Faroe Islands. The later updated song Mín Móðir (2004) is literally about her mother, though there is some lyrics crossover. The song in both videos is Mín Móðir.
Hi from Copenhagen. What have you got me into by reacting to Eivør? I can speak Danish but it doesn't help with understanding her songs. For some reason I just new that the curly d was pronounced th in old english. But never mind, you don't need to understand, do you? Thanks for the intro. Guess I should subscribe now!
