Eivor is a force of nature. Her voice is amazing. You don't just listen to her music live, you experiance it. She is an amzing, humble human and if you ever get the chance to see her live...GOOO! Her music will change you...
As a danish person we know Eivør very well, she an absolute hero here also, Faroe isles being part of Denmark, now the interesting part is she admitted to learning this style of singing from Inuits(throatsinging part), which Denmark also knows well from Greenland, so...... maybe Vikings learned a thing or two from being the travelers of the sea during the times
This song is incredible, and the performance... Woah.. Super. The landscape, the music... Everything. The session on Juke Train Station of Salt is incredible too
It is recorded in Western Norway (where the Feroyer people orginally came from - in the socalled Viking years). The title of the song could tranlate to "spellbound".
As others have already said, the concert (which also featured other musicians) was at a World Heritage site in Norway. Note that it was filmed by NRK, Norway's premiere television station. I smiled at your saying at the beginning, that the music matched the surroundings so well, because I knew what was coming! The videography combined with the music was awe-inspiring to me the first time I experienced it!
Look like locals . Eivør has a superb varied back catalogue - although this is traditional she covers a wide range of genres from this to jazz , classical , pop and even electronica . She deserves MUCH more recognition than she receives outside Scandinavia ! You would love Sørvágsvatn ( the Cliff Lake ) worth googling - guarantee you've never seen anything like it - the Faroes are beautiful
Precious you, I know exactly how you feel while listening and seeing this - this is the call of mother nature. And if you listened to other ancient songs you'll find so many similiarities - not by coincidence!
This lady is just excellent.I saw her sing this live here in England. This is Norway.Lyrics I am troll-bound trøllabundin eri eg a wizard trapped me galdramaður festi meg troll bound deep in my soul trøllabundin djúpt í míni sál a burning fire burns in the heart í hjartanum logar brennandi bál I am troll-bound trøllabundin eri eg a wizard trapped me galdramaður festi meg troll bound into the root of the heart trøllabundin inn í hjartarót my eye was fixed on where the sorcerer was standing eyga mítt festist har ið galdramaðurin stóð
Yes, she is singing in her native Faroese. Interestingly .. the Faroese language is the closest too what Old Norwegian would sound like. The people who settled in the Faroe islands all those long years ago came from Norwegians who had been living in parts of Ireland (possibly Scotland?) and so they had Irish wives so some of that influenced the language also. There are a lots of "Ifs and buts" about that .. since this is I think taken from stories, legends and such.
Eivør - Falling Free, live in Torshavn 👀It's not a folk song like this one, it's an alt-rock song that begins slow but builds into a crescendo. Eivor writes songs in many different styles. The song is just amazing.
Eivor has an amazing voice and you could pick any song of hers to listen to and they are all food for the soul, you hit the nail right on the head there!
You definetly need to check out more of the amazing Eivor. Her Falling Free (Live in her hometown Torshavn is a must. Soo beautiful. I`m excited to finally see her Live here in Sweden this Autumn together with Heilung. It will be epic:) Btw. Trollabundin means Spellbound:)
Come to Norway 😊 we would love to show you around. Eviør is a star. Your should try her «Falling free». If on the viking-side, try Eldrim with their song Uår.
The concert was held at Stigen farm in Aurlandsfjord , Norway . Spellbound Spellbound I am, I am The wizard has enchanted me, enchanted me Spellbound deep in my soul, in my soul In my heart burns a sizzling fire, a sizzling fire Spellbound I am, I am The wizard has enchanted me, enchanted me Spellbound in my heart's root, my heart's root My eyes gaze to where the wizard stood
Her name (Eivor) means Good Luck in old Norse mythology. She has done work with Wardruna another incredible singer/songwriter of Viking culture. Wardruna has many videos to react to aswell and I promise you won't be disappointed.
Greate reaction. I think I can see stars in your eyes during this performance🤩 This is a part of an outdoor concert with the Norwegian band «Vamp» on the mountain farm «Stigen», a UNESCO World Heritage site in Aurland, Norway. Eivør has a lot of great music. I think you should stay in Norway a little longer and take a look at Wardruna and Aurora singing «Helvegen» live in Bergen ua-cam.com/video/FnkTuHP9q3o/v-deo.html This is real Viking-music, and is about crossing over to the afterlife called Hel (not Hell). You can use the subtitle, but it’s not necessary -your soul will understand. The male vocalist is a former drummer in the black metal-band Gorgoroth, and Aurora you already know😉. I think you will love it!
Ee-vohr. My Texas mouth can't pronounce the last name. It isn't easy nor is Icelandic. The Faroe Islands are beautiful but I don't think this is shot there. In the summer it is very nice. And I imagine it is already getting cool there. Although it won't get brutally cold it would be unpleasant in the winter. That is a fiord. I think the song is about a witch trying to ward off a wizard with a spell. We expect some videos once you get settled in next week.
Eivor is an amazing performer, and I encourage you to explore her music further. She also sings in English, as well as her native Faroese and Norwegian (often recording both English and Norwegian versions of her songs). Her music videos are often stunning works of art. Her live performance of Falling Free is spellbinding. She also does the occasional cover of Kate Bush and Leonard Cohen songs, so she clearly has impeccable taste!
The title of the song translates as “Spellbound” Spellbound I am, I am The wizard has enchanted me, enchanted me Spellbound deep in my soul, in my soul In my heart burns a sizzling fire, a sizzling fire Spellbound I am, I am The wizard has enchanted me, enchanted me Spellbound in my heart's root, my heart's root My eyes gaze to where the wizard stood
Lovely reaction. After hearing your reapons (and except listening to more from her) I would like to recomend videos made By Jonna Jinton. She sings and makes wonderful wonderful videos about how it is to live in the north. Highly recommend here videos, you will love it if you liked this.
Sorry - forgot to say - she does record in English - songs like " Remember Me " or " In My Shoes " - completely different types of song - but both worth a listen
Recommend her Salt live at the train station also recommend Crow by Diana Ankudinova a Russian girl now 19 a one of a kind voice.Other songs by her that are mind blowing when she was 14 Rechenka and Derniere Danse at 15 Human and Wicked Game. She has been dubbed the Queen of Goosebumps.Enjoy I think you will
The name Eivør is a different spelling of the Faroese name Eyðvør and means 'steady guardian' or 'one who always protects you'. The surname Pálsdóttir means "Paul's daughter" after the father's first name Páll.
Eivør and Eyðvør are two different names and they are both equally faroese! Ei and Ey along with Oy is considered one letter in faroese. Oy is the faroese version of the danish or german ø/ö although we also have ø in faroese. In danish ø(island), mø(maiden), hø(hay), and in faroese oyggj, moyggj, hoyggj. -vør is a normal in faroese female names, Eivør, Eyðvør, Ásvør, Sunnvør etc. The closest explainable correct pronounciation of the name Eivør in english is f(i)ght+(wor)ld (pronounce what’s in the parenthesis). The closest explainable correct pronounciation of the name Eyðvør in english is s(ay) or (ei)ght+(wor)ld
No, there is nothing more beautiful than nature. I am just sad that most people don't get it... Well, if you ever go there, pack me in your suitcase and just drop me there. I would not need anything apart from one small spot there, next to the water.
Please, consider reacting to TUOMAS HOLOPAINEN - A LIFETIME OF ADVENTURE (Official Video) from his 2014 solo album, 'Music Inspired by the Life and Times of Scrooge', a graphic novel by Don Rosa. Vocals by Johanna Kurkela, Mrs. Holopainen. The album is essentially a soundtrack for the graphic novel. Recorded with an orchestra. For background info: "Tuomas Holopainen and Don Rosa interviewed by Radio Nova". It is in two parts, only 5 minutes altogether. Dfferent from Nightwish music by as enjoyable.

A better video to show her range Falling Free: ua-cam.com/video/KNPIdGBn7M4/v-deo.html . The one you did now is Eivor doing a 10 min song while band Vamp where having a break in their consert 😎😋❤️🇧🇻
You mentioned the crucial importance of respecting Nature. I realize the following comment is not about Eivør, but did you see that the BBC has posted the very recent segment of this year's Proms featuring Aurora? The segment was to showcase the upcoming documentary called "Frozen Earth 2" talking about climate change and its devastating effect on our polar regions. A song was written for the doco, and Aurora was chosen to sing it. Here is the both heart-rending and soul inspiring performance at the Proms, including footage from the documentary: ua-cam.com/video/d4wcQO0r7nM/v-deo.html
If you want to listen to some Faroe Island metal, please check out "Tyr - Ormurin langi", which is an old folk song from the viking age performed as metal by Tyr: ua-cam.com/video/BJ--Uw7a0tk/v-deo.html - note how everyone in the crowd sings along :D Tyr is a power metal band, and "Ormurin langi" is quite different from their "normal" music. But I love this one.
Actually it's not that old. I mixed it up. There was an old viking ship called the "Ormen lange", which was used as the title of this folk song from the 1830s.
So you like a beautiful setting with beautiful sounds ... Let us go back to Norway and meet some Vikings:- Wardruna, Aurora and Oslo Fagottkor: "HELVEGEN" : ua-cam.com/video/cg0TQyjdHJ0/v-deo.html

I had never heard this music. It made me feel like she was narrating life, with its joys and sorrows. The mountain, the wind, its culture. Awesome.

I was cycling in Norway 4 weeks and lived in tent, swimming in sea and lakes. So beautiful country.
I loved your reactions. It’s one of my favourite songs.

I am troll-bound
trøllabundin eri eg
a wizard trapped me
galdramaður festi meg
troll bound deep in my soul
trøllabundin djúpt í míni sál
a burning fire burns in the heart
í hjartanum logar brennandi bál
I am troll-bound
trøllabundin eri eg
a wizard trapped me
galdramaður festi meg
troll bound into the root of the heart
trøllabundin inn í hjartarót
my eye was fixed on where the sorcerer was standing
eyga mítt festist har ið galdramaðurin stóð
Trollbound is the literal translation. A more accurate figurative translation would be spellbound.

She did contribute to the Last Kingdom soundtrack, but she did not make all of it. That was a man called John Lunn. :)

Eivor is one of our Norse goddesses.

This is a performance she had with Vamp( Norwegian band) in Sogn / Norway on a mountain farm
Norway has closed some of the most beautiful fjords for cruse ships to protekt nature. Thank you for that Norway!

The lyrics are about a woman who is enchanted or spellbound by a young wizard.
The title of the song translates as “Spellbound”
Spellbound I am, I am
The wizard has enchanted me, enchanted me
Spellbound deep in my soul, in my soul
In my heart burns a sizzling fire, a sizzling fire
Spellbound I am, I am
