The comments you made about the reasons that you were unhappy are interesting because they’re some of the reasons I’m most excited about Barnard. I live in the South so Barnard is far from home for me in a place I’ve always wanted to live. I can’t wait to have more alone time and would kill to have a roommate who wasn’t there all the time. Wonderful video:)
Also, I would love if you did some videos on the experience of living in NYC as a college student. Expenses, transportation, pros and cons of going to college in a big city, etc

You guys should make a videos about LDRs while at barnard, dating guys (for people who do) while at barnard, making other college friends in NYC that don’t go to barnard/Columbia.

Interesting you say that you struggled the most freshmen year; I feel like that's a common theme amongst many college students. That being said, could you guys do a video on the academic and social advice you would've given yourself when you were a freshmen? What are some tips to keep in mind during the transition from high school to college? Also, being that Barnard/Columbia are such great schools, did you guys ever experience imposter syndrome and if so, how did you guys work through it?

freshman year is def the toughest one! Diana is thinking of doing a vid on imposter syndrome so keep an eye out for that, but to answer your question about that briefly here I'd say I for sure struggled and still do struggle w/ imposter syndrome. But it's important to keep in mind that when you're accepted to a school, it's because the admissions team thinks you're qualified and that you'll thrive at the college! so even if you feel like you aren't good enough, someone else knows you are. and we have a video up called "what I wish I knew before my freshman year at barnard" so def watch that hehe. we can also do a vid more specific to academic and social advice for freshman, as you mentioned. that's a really good idea!

A video on imposter syndrome would be great and super helpful. Thank you !

If I had the same worries that you mentioned in the beginning of the video, would you recommend to commit to Barnard if there’s another school that is very “work hard play hard” and has a less individualistic atmosphere? I’m worried I’ll be unhappy for the first couple of semesters and will feel quite isolated as well; I want to go to parties and not spend most of my time in the library or in my room. But the job opportunities at Barnard and the overall academic experience are absolutely amazing.

hi, I think that's an excellent question and excellent concerns and my answer would be it really depends on what you are looking for. When I applied to college I was very burnt out and really wanted a work hard play hard school. However, Barnard gave me more than I think those types of schools would have: insanely close friends, greater empathy, a new way of looking at the world, a better understanding of systematic problems in society.. etc. I also think I met a more diverse group of people and that is SO important to me (also on these notes watch my Dear Barnard College vid bc I mention a lot of this).I strongly recommend choosing Barnard because I do think at the end it will give you SO much more than schools where you may be 50/50 work/party, but I understand where you are coming from and I think either chose will end up being a good one :)
