- In which Jon Anderson and Steve Heimler of Good Buddy Fly Fishing join their friend Big T for a day of fishing on Georgia's trophy trout stream, the Soque.
It didn't matter if we were euro nymphing or indicator fishing, we were catching the trout of a lifetime. And Big T gave us some good pointers about how to fight big fish.
We hope y'all enjoy coming along with us!
Just finished the ap world 2020 exam and found out you have this channel too, you really do it all lol. Much love Mr. Heimler!

I’m not sure how I did on my test but I can tell you for sure that you filled the gap my teacher couldn’t. You did so much for me and for so many others. I’m thoroughly grateful for what you’ve done.
Wow, thank you!
AWESOME!!!!! Thank you BIG T!! The T must stand for Teach when you first meet him and the Taught once you know him.
No joke... wisdom just falls out of the guy
Lol, this is totally unexpected! Thanks for helping us all with APWH... you rock! And now there's more interesting content, muahaha!

history and fishing wizard. Heimler does it all
Just chillin...
That was a massive fish Steve! Love it- keep up the good work boys!
Yeah it was a heck of a fight. But there were fish way bigger in that hole. It was unreal...
Definitely guys! Make more videos! You are what the fly fishing videos a lacking hard! Best regards! Stay safe!
Thanks Denny. We will definitely be making more videos once everything clears up. Glad to have you here.
So pleased to see you guys back on UA-cam! Hope to see you on the water soon.
There will be more videos to come. Once this virus mess is all over we will get back at it.
Nick here. So glad you all are back!
Ha, that makes three of us...
Big T is the Man!
He is the man indeed.
Nicely done boys! Congrats on not having any haters lol. 86 thumbs up with none down, gotta love it. That was an EXCELLENT tip about fighting fish. Glad you got that on film. I fish fish similarly. I talk about putting a "C" in the rod. It helps tire the fish, keeps them down, and also keeps them ahead of you in the current. Nothing worse than an "alligator roll" down stream with rod tip up. That is a certain recipe for disaster. Great video as usual, and look forward to the next!
Yeah that was one of about 20 pieces of gold he delivered. And they would just fall out of his mouth... too quick for me to get the camera rolling
Great content guys. Very well done. Keep up the awesome work.
Thanks Troy. We appreciate you coming along.
Beautiful guys. I envy you both ha
Thanks for watching David. Glad you enjoyed it.
Good video..Nice fish...Hope Big T included the Birds and the Birds, and the Bee's who say they are Birds but look like bee's and retain their stingers parts in his talk with Jon...
Well I went to The River last weekend at Blackhawk. Got into big fish all day. Lost a bunch from pure tiredness. Never out of the fish for longer then a half hour at the longest....Unreal and worth the price...
That's awesome. It is exhausting for sure when they are feeding well.
All the rivers around there have such cool names.
You aren’t lying. Gotta love Georgia river names.
So good man! Keep em coming! 💥
As you wish...
This river is definitely fun. Its every bit a trophy stream alright. Good luck finding the public areas. Most is guide only.
I have never fished any of the public sections but would like to.
Awesome content fellas! I'm moving to GA for the the Army. From PA and have gotten spoiled fishing the waters here. I am so glad to see there is some wonderful fly fishing down in GA! Are any of these trout wild or are they stocked? They look beautiful! My brother and I run a UA-cam channel called backyard angling. Maybe we could meet up and fish sometime in the next few years!
Hey Daniel, sorry it took so long to reply. There are some really good wild trout fisheries in North GA. There are also several pay to play places as well that hold some big fish. Hit us up sometime, we are always down for some collaboration.
Awesome content guys! I’ve always wanted to expand my skill set to fly fishing! Your videos have definitely inspired me to create my own channel!
That’s awesome. Good luck with the channel. Let us know when you get some videos uploaded.
@@GoodBuddyFlyFishing I have some up already. Still learning how to better my content lol! My channel is NeverStopFishing

We love you too! Thanks for coming along with us.
They're BACK !!!
Heck yes, baby.
Thanks for the apush help
Happy to help
I have your channel for all notifications. How did I miss this!?
Not sure. But glad you found it.
“Mostly private” is an understatement.
This is the only place we have fished on the Soque. I do know that downstream of this spot are 2 more private sections. There is a lot of private water for sure. Thanks for watching
Awesome video! We’re you guys on public water or private? Thanks!
It was a private stretch, but there is some public water on the Soque...
Great video, can you add a link to Big T's channel, I could not find it. Thanks
Check the button at the very end of the video...
I guess John should have watched Big T's video on fighting big fish before going out.
Ain’t that the truth...
How does Jon like his fishpond emerger net and the net holder on his back? I was thinking of getting a setup like that
This is Steve. Jon just bought a house and is probably busy painting it. But he loves the setup. I have a setup like that on my pack, but the short handled net is a nightmare to tuck in there. The long handle seems to be the key...
Yew!!!
Yep
Hey what is the cover over your rod handle and reel seat? Is that an accessory or part of the rod? Never seen that before. Is it just a fashionista thing or does it have function?
It’s the handle of the rod. It’s called Arctic silver Zense. The butt section of the rod is seated down inside the handle rather that the top. The intent is more power with less effort. I just started using it a little while ago and like it a lot so far.
Is there a public access fishing spot on the Soque River?
Yes, but I’m (Steve) not altogether sure where it is... Maybe Jon will chime in...
Good Buddy Fly Fishing Thanks, Steve. I have been wanting to take my 15 year old son there. He has developed the outdoor passion with me now.
@@tjxpeditionoverland5506I fish the public almost every weekend with my 6 yr son ..it's down hwy 197 mile marker 13 Jackson bridge.
you match the hatch with some Purina Trout Chow pellet flies or what?
We did not match that hatch but we did see a feeder go off and it always blows my mind how many fish we weren’t catching.
If you visit the soque again i recommend
"rivers edge on the soque" their fish are so much bigger than most of the other guide services and you catch them almost every cast i recommend Jacob Brewster as your guide he'll get you on a fish that could be close to 20lbs
That’s ridiculous... 20lbs?! Yeah we’ve heard the folks at FV are great and we’ll probably get there someday, but when you got a buddy who lives a few doors up from them and you can fish for free, well...
Are these stocked fish?
They are.
My brother, a neophyte fly fisherman, is on the river at the moment. Sent a pic of a 3 1/2 pound hen ‘bow. Squirmy worm red, he said. He has no qualms about using fake bait, and doesn’t realize that he’s not really fly fishing.
I thought when you fished the Soque River land owners shot at you from there porch?
When you fish with a land owner you’re good.
I don’t know much about fishing, but I’d like to, and don’t understand why everyone I’ve seen fishing rivers & lakes on UA-cam has been throwing their fish back. Are people fishing only for sport, with no intention of keeping any fish, or are the fish they’re throwing back unlawful to keep? Thanks.
It’s not illegal to keep fish but in some cases there are size restrictions, seasons for certain species. A lot of private water is catch and release only. It’s a preference thing. We like to let them go and let someone else enjoy catching these fish. Also, some fish aren’t that good to eat.
Thanks!
I don't get why your ripping on John the whole time... Is that part of the allure? He seems like a nice guy. I like a bit of friendly competition but sometimes just being nice is more savy.
It's all fun. Steve and I have been buddies for over 20 years. Sarcasm and competition are just part of it.
Nice one Steve! You two really put together some nice videos! Here's a video of one I caught this past December on the Soque! ua-cam.com/video/UZMSi-jCMf8/v-deo.html
We should get together and do a spinner vs fly video!!! You guys pick the spot!
Sounds amazing... we’re in
