The rant at the end is so true. There are so many consistent FUN ways to score but people do boring things like that. The reveal that it was rivals was crazy 💀
The skill zoners are the ones complaining about the AI penalties. If you play any semblance of manual defence you won’t get many AI penalties
Loving the rant! I'm old as well and I hate playing against meta players, both regarding style of play and team build. Not that I lose to them, I'm about a "win 3/5 games" player and that seems about right. But playing metas are just not enjoyable.

I played a real Rat this week. The game play looked so much like that guy that was just raging in o zone and running behind the goalie and changing lines. Real rat shit. Happy X-mas bra.
I'm with you 100% on this win at all cost mentality. Played a few players doing the same thing, staying in the corner waiting for me to move out of position, even when they're down by multiple goals with time running down. I don't budge, not going to play into that crap.
This is a hockey game, let's play hockey!
IMO, if guys are deliberately not challenging that puck carrier, i think it's perfectly viable to stay in the corner and wait. You are skill zoning for D... why should I be forced to play into your defensive scheme. If you come to challenge the puck carrier and pressure than I will try to beat you 1 on 1, or move the puck, and make my way to the middle. But if someone is just going to drag their far side winger down into the slot ... why would i force a play there.

@@JacenSolo09 IMO, i look at the pressure meter and it's meant to discourage passive defence and encourage guys to attack the puck. If you don't play aggressive and smart, you get a penalty.
@@sniperstarBecause you're supposed to pass the puck around the zone to open up shooting lanes...not wiggle waggle in the corner until the AI breaks itself and leaves a high danger area wide open. The reason people "skill zone" is because of others seeking out these cheese goals.
I'll pressure with my stick and try to knock the puck away, but I'm not going to overpursue and have to switch to my (likely) out of position AI to now stop a 2 on 1. Keeping the puck carrier in front of me and on the outside is EXACTLY how you're supposed to defend.
You're just used to bad programming opening up arcadey scoring chances so you don't have to learn real hockey plays. EA intentionally dumbs down the AI because the wall huggers and button punchers would never score otherwise.
@@ghost_615 To be clear. I cycle the puck around and look for openings and shooting lanes. Sometimes I'll hold in the corner waiting for someone to come towards me then throw a quick pass behind the net or to the point or high slot. Whichever is open.
when I stand in the corner and wait, it's not for the purposes of wiggling and cheesing UF. It's to open up a passing lane and create space. But if a guy is just going to stand there staring at my guy... with 4 guys packed into the slot... what do you want me to do? I pass to the open guy and he still just stands there with 4 guys packed into the slot...
Skill zoning has been around forever and the pressure meter has made it a less viable way of defending than previously. I don't wiggle around the wall and abuse UF to hold the puck but I will stand there and wait for you to make a move before moving it to another open guy.

Sleeveless, play 7-10 games of squad battles and see if you feel the same about the ai penalties
had THREE ai elbowing calls in one game today. not even sure why that animation is in the game. looks like someone just punching the other player!
@@dmc3827 seriously!!! Tell me the exact button I need to press to elbow someone because I keep getting called for it (AI player), but have no idea how to pull it off.
Also, noticing the massive increase in goalie interference calls. Anytime I take a shot and the player makes the slightest incidental contact with the goalie I get called. Mind you, the other team can smash my goalie all day without any calls, wtfe.
This game is a frigin mess again this year.

I tried 86 Demko with that ability active and saw no impact whatsoever.
Once all the important stuff gets fixed, they need to tune down the broken glass frequency

Just had a game where 2 ai pentialies off the face-off in a 2-1 game start ofnthe 3rd.....20 seconds in! A nice ai hook and the other winger decided to imminently shove the other winger. Lost 4-1 from those. Game is rigged....didn't like my 10-3 hut record..... don't see intercepting passes especially cross crease...and I see alot more fumbling of the puck...and what I'm noticing alot now is alot more animation on puck pickups and if you contradict your motion(like going against the animation) you turn it over or fall....having a real hard time keeping up with all the updates it feels like everyday Is a new game and it's hard to adapt to it...I'm speaking as a 14W hut Champs player, 1820 D2 player... The new speed of the game takes away the skill of your top players... I just witnessed 86 Jake Sanderson clown Bobby Orr all game... as in outskating, winning puck battles/puck pickups, and making crazy pases but Bobby Orr can't hit a players stick and ices the puck. EA logic is broken.
In terms of the AI penalties cam... if it helps... I think it's relatled to skillstick vs total control style
My AI takes like 3 penalties a game still....
Plus the auto hit BULLLSHIIIITTT when ur trying to one time pass is literally happening as I type this .... Penalties

70% of my games are like that..... cheese raging in the zone by the opponents cause they're trash and can't play... 😂😂😂 I'm 230-130 btw 😮😮.

Lots ai penalties offline but online has improved.

I always ask myself “would I give sleeves the work, or would he destroy me in a game in HUT?” We are both div2 and get roughly the same amount of wins in HYT champs each week. I think he may have a slightly better squad, but I don’t think it would give too much of an edge. Unfortunately I play old gen, otherwise I would you to start a series of challenging your subscribers like BaconCountry used to do back in the day. I think that would be some great content you could get just when you are streaming.
