The Smuggler's Chorus that opened Act 2 (along with Josef Kovačič's leadership) was so sonorous, haunting, and beautiful. Martin Šrejma and Veronika Rovná were cast perfectly in their roles. Thanks for showing this rarely-performed work; I knew nothing of it until now. Compositionally I thought Act 1 was dull (though the performers themselves all great), but act 2 was GORGEOUS.
Wonderful voices, and some lovely music. I really liked the story and the characters, (although Lucas and Vendulka's father were jerks at times). It was so nice that all the secondary characters got such big moments in the Opera. The set was clever. I especially liked Vendulka's lullaby, and the song to the ascending soul, right after that. The characters seemed true to Nature, like people you might actually meet. This was an Opera I have been curious to see, and I thought it was worth the wait. Thank you.

Really beautiful performance. And IMHO - Ms. Veronika Rovná is amazing Vendulka.
