I've had congenital (born with) hydrocephalus, and for much of my life, I thought it was problem free. Now, as an adult, I may need to have this done to correct the issue.

Hi Edvard, I think you are referring to amusement park rides. In that case, you would need to speak to your neurosurgeon about whether or not participating on some ride attractions are ok to do.

Did you ever have the procedure and what have been your results? I am 68 years old and this is all new to me. Carl

My 27 year old nephew got Etv exactly 1 month before. But even after the surgery he still continues to have loss of balance when trying to walk. Seizures have co e down. Will it take time to normalize.

It is difficult to determine if your nephew's loss of balance will improve with time and if the seizures will resolve. These are questions to ask of the neurosurgeon at a follow-up appointment. It may be a good practice to keep a diary of the times and length of the seizures. Some things to ask, as he is still having seizures - should he be on medication to manage them if he isn't already? Will his balance improve-should he be receiving physical therapy? If he is not currently using assistive devices (cane/walker) - should he be assessed by an occupational therapist? Hydrocephalus is a chronic neurological condition that needs to be monitored. If the seizures look like they are increasing as well as his balance issues that could indicate that the ETV is not doing its job. In this event, his neurosurgeon should be contacted immediately. If getting in touch with his doctor is challenging, a visit to the ER at the hospital where he had his ETV for assessment might be needed.
