I just want to take a moment to thank you for your advice on this color. I just painted my entire open concept living area in OC-95 Navajo White, after testing FIFTEEN different off-whites! I decided to just “go for it” with this one and I couldn’t be happier! Love your videos! Thanks again.

We used Navajo White for the trim/baseboards in our New England bungalow. The soft light there made it look more white and didn't make our colored walls look dingy.

Bought a house painted "bruised gallbladder purple" inside. Custom tint by the previous "artist" owner. Oh dear. The only solution was to Navajo White the interior. It lets you breath, it's clean, fresh and a blank canvas. Lets you decide which direction you want to go in down the road. A great go-to colour!

In the 1980s, Navajo White was the builder's default color. I was shopping for my first home, and NW was **everywhere**. New home builders used it, landlords used it ... at least once grey became the default people were picking different greys. I got so sick of looking at NW ... I never, ever used a yellow toned neutral again.
I'm currently painting my place with slightly greige toned gray, Stone Harbour.

the Navajo White used in the 80's was more the Sherwin Williams Navajo White, than the Benjamin Moore Navajo White. And now today, if you want to match the 80's color, you need to go with something called "heritage cream"

I was slow to go on this channel because I’m used to taking advice from mommy bloggers but you are sensational. I’m hooked. Almost my big loss! How do you recommend choosing among navajo, chamois, seashell and maritime?? We are doing the whole house and I don’t want to get it wrong. It’s in North Idaho so the light is a little cold most of the year - Navajo to warm is up or chamois because it’s mostly low light? I don’t want to accidentally go with something dull and lifeless. Thanks if you have time to advise!

I painted both the ceiling and walls with BM Navajo White...but in different finishes -- Ultra Flat on the ceiling and Eggshell on the walls. I can say that I prefer the color that I see on the ceiling. The Eggshell finish is a tad more yellow than I prefer, but the wall color overall is OK. The combination is not bad, given that the room receives SW-facing light.
As for the trim, I went with White Dove instead of a stark white. I was worried that something as bright as Simply White or Chantilly Lace would be screaming bright in a bedroom that receives bright afternoon light.

@@sunshinensprinkles9322 Navajo White could work considering you already have the trim painted Chantilly Lace. I read that there should be at least a LRV (Light Reflective Value) of 10 between walls and trim when choosing whites. If you have a BM dealer nearby it would be good to get samples and their recommendation. Good luck! Post pictures after and lmk how you like it.

I have Navajo white walls throughout my very sunny southern exposure apartment. It is flat finish and all the trim and doors are Gentle Cream eggshell.finish I am looking to break up some of the yellow tones and modernize the room. The floors are wood with an orange tone. Would a bright white accent wall in the living room work with Navajo white? I was thinking chantilly lace? What white would you recommend to work well with Navajo White and have enough contrast? Stick with flat finish or go eggshell for more reflection? Not sure if mixing finishes would look weird or make a statement. TY

Oh you're too funny 😉 I was yelling "No! Honey, it's naah vaah hoe" when you let us know you were in on the joke. Like you can hear me lol.
In my experience, Navajo white should be used with old wool blankets or quilts in the room. I actually think a darker color on the trim should be used.
Do you have a preference between what I consider to be the basic neutral off whites of antique white, ivory, almond, and Navajo white? Taupe and grey are neutral but usually too dark to be off white, although I guess we could group the lighter one with them?
    Hopefully that makes sense!

Do you need to prime your walls before using this paint? We have a pretty ugly old beige that was present in the house before we bought it. We are selling in a year. The living room is open layout with the kitchen so it all runs together. Would you recommend painting the baseboards a different color or would the one tone make it more open and less defined? Thank you!

    • @thepaintpeople
      @thepaintpeople  3 роки тому +2

In terms of priming, it's more dependent on the product, rather than the colour. If you're using a self-priming paint, you should be fine. In terms of the baseboards, I would opt for white, because it'll clean up the look a bit. 😊

I've got a rent house that has a kitchen with dark stained cabinets that ties into a living room with the same dark stained builtins and tongue and grove paneling and a red brick fireplace. There is a garden room added on and now there is very little natural light. I'm wanting to paint all the dark woodwork to try to brighten it up. I was thinking along the lines of White Dove, Swiss Coffee or maybe Navajo White. Now I'm confused on if I should be going lighter or darker since it will always be lit with artificial lighting (no skylight in the budget). Any ideas?

To me, this color looks like someone has been smoking in the house for years and the walls are nicotine covered. I could pay someone to spray it another color, but money and inconvenience. So, I live with this sad color but am slowly adding color to the rooms I most live in. It quite the job for 74 year old woman.
