ABOUT ME:
Hello and welcome! My name is Sarah and I started this channel as a way to share my journey towards mindful makeup consumption. I love trying new makeup, but I also love keeping a curated makeup collection and finding inspiration to use what I have -- so when it comes to buying to new products, I try my best to make carefully thought-out purchases. I firmly believe you don’t need to buy every new launch to enjoy makeup, and your collection doesn’t have to fill an entire room to be versatile and fun. Feel free to subscribe & stick around if that sounds like your cup of tea!

If I have an expired product but I love the packaging I will crumble out the product and reuse the packaging by repressing in new products from cheap packaging I hate. This way my collection always looks nice.
That’s brilliant!
I am so honored that you used my idea and looked more into You From Me! I so love how you use your platform to promote conscious consumerism and using your products up. I actually found you through your how to recycle your makeup video believe it or not!
Thank you so much for letting me know about it!!💕
I always have to say multiple times at stores, “I do not want a plastic bag”.
I love reusing and refusing and reducing by reusing.
I’ve done a Galentine’s day beauty swap! We did skincare, makeup, nails, and hair care. And I had a box for people to bring their expired products to be properly recycled.
Awesome idea!
so fun!!
What a great idea for a video and I will definitely check out your other one too!! So often people talk about decluttering and/or curating their makeup as part of “conscious consumerism” but in my opinion it’s not really conscious consumerism if you just throw everything you don’t want in the bin. Yes developing healthy purchasing behaviours is important but for those of us who came to that party a bit late, we need to think about how to responsibly dispose or rehome things we don’t need or want any more.
I completely agree!! 💯
I use Mercari to sell used makeup! And have success. But i don't sell to make a huge profit.and I note how old it is and it's used. I make the price to cover shipping and little profit, so it goes to a good home and it gives someone a great deal. I usually do it just to pass things on not necessarily make money.
Yes, that seems to be about the only place that will allow you to sell used makeup. I was finally able to get rid of my Modern Renaissance that way. I only got $5 but it's now in a better home and no longer cluttering up my drawer.
I pass my makeup on in a super personal way, so it’s probably not helpful to others 😅 But I have extended family in Ecuador and we usually visit once a year and it’s a great way to pass on beauty products or clothes where it’s not as accessible in a different country.
i love that!!
I also keep any small jars and bottles to reuse. Sometimes for travel, but also to give a small amount of product for friends to try.
I bring my decluttered makeup to my friends and we do makeovers; they keep the products they use 😁 they love it!
i love that idea!!
If you have any young high school aged people in your life, they are also a great group to gift your gently used makeup. When I was 16-18 I was grateful when my mother’s friends would gift me their expensive reject product, it was like gold to me!
Love this video btw 💜
i started selling my used makeup on mercari thos year and i've been pretty successful in rehoming a decent amount of stuff. i prefer it to poshmark bc there are less seller fees on mercari so i can get the most money back
Ahh good to know!! Thanks for sharing!
Doing artwork with the decluttered expired makeup is quite nice.
Weekends mean I get to catch up with Sarah! I don’t have quite enough makeup to require a declutter, but nail polish…yesssss. ❤️
happy decluttering!!
This makeup look is so beautiful!
Thank you Sam!!
Great video! I also use Glambot for higher end items that my friends and family are not interested in. It takes awhile to collect enough products to send in but it’s better than throwing them away. I also have a teenaged friend of the family that takes a lot of what I am not using.
Super helpful video!! Bare Minerals also has store drop-off for recycling!
When you say "give and receive" I have such Joey vibes :D
This was a great video! I have used project beauty share for years on items I barely used or didn’t use at all. But the others listed I will look into to declutter properly and responsibly my makeup and skincare.
I love Bainbridge island!!
It's beautiful!!!
Selling has been my life saver during my early makeup days as I was experminting. But now after covid it became so hard and now after knowing what I like I bring in little that needs to be decluttered so I just give them to my friends🤷🏻♀️
Great video; love that you dedicated a whole video on this topic. By the way, your make up look is stunning. So pretty
Thank you so much Hayley!
This was a great video idea! So helpful. I personally use Mercari to sell makeup, but I also buy from there a lot instead of getting something brand new. (Does that count as refusing? Ha.) If something is gently used, it's totally fine with me since there's still TONS of product. AFAIK, Poshmark's policy is only brand new makeup. And I totally agree with repurposing packaging. You'd be surprised! Most of my makeup is neatly organized inside drawers in... old Target Beauty Boxes, haha. And just yesterday I used an Essence compact to house an indie blush single that had no home. It worked out perfectly.
I love the idea of buying makeup used!! It's nice to know you're keeping something out of landfills!
Personally I like to give my makeup that I don't want that still good to my kids instead of buying kids makeup so I don't have extra stuff in my house and my kids enjoy having makeup time with Mommy so it's a win-win.
Aww love that!!
I pass along the majority of things to friends and family. I love putting together little curated packages of new and like new items to give away.
I get ipsy so I also have makeup bags on hand to give away too.
The bags can be given to people who put period bags together for others.
I love the care package idea!!
None of my friends and family members uses make up and all the make up I got in subscription boxes that don't fit my skin type will be donated into the "for free"-cardboard boxes on my way to work, which usually contain clothes or DVDs or household items. And every time I come home from work every piece of make up is gone. :)
that's amazing!!
To all germans (or other middle europeans): A ton of places are currently collection donations of pretty much anything for people who lost their homes in the recent floods. Maybe you could donate your makeup to that cause!
When it comes to products I don’t like/ no longer use I always pass them on to my family. I’ve tried selling on Facebook market place and it’s ok but I’d rather just give it to someone before selling.
Loved this video! I am always looking for places where I can donate my makeup. I am an Esthetician, the school I went to accepted a lot of my old makeup and nail polish because they are always in need of those for students. Also I recently found out that Farmacy has a recycling program and also Pacifica.
ooh that's good to know!! thanks!
Yes, I love my Buy Nothing group! I just decluttered several things on there.
Yay!!!
They sound great!
I will try to find one in germany, i hope i find something..
I heard of "pay nothing" stores here already but this is new.
@@suides4810 ich hab auch mal geschaut und es gibt einige in Deutschland. Nur leider nichts in NRW
@@monar8487 uff gerade NRW
Great ideas Sarah 🤗
thanks for watching!!
Give it ta me!
So here I am two years after this video was put out and I have a crap ton of makeup that I bought and never used from when I was traveling overseas and keeping excess amounts in my travel bags. Do you think you could update this video and share any new ideas? This seems like such a waste but it’s post Covid and I know people are careful.
I usually sell on meecari and if it doesn't sell I'll find a friend who wants or buy nothing project
The thing for beauty used products is hygiene, I've asked friends how often they wash their brushes and I'm shocked 🤣. When you give something away, did you tell them "i had this for 4 years?" Or something like that?
It really just depends on what you’re comfortable with!! I normally don’t give away products that are 4+ years old :)
Also, powder products can be sanitized with a few spritzes of isopropyl alcohol!
