Pentatonix won their 3rd Grammy for this collaboration. This was such a great collaboration, it’s hard to believe Dolly was 71 when they did this together.
It's even harder to believe that it was the first Grammy Dolly Parton received for her iconic song Jolene. She waited decades to earn this award for her song.
I love your reactions. You can tell that music just reaches into the core of your soul like me. Dolly is a national treasure. I love how they do their thing but give her the spotlight
Another amazing pentatonix collaboration is with Todrick Hall doing the Wizard of Ahhhs. It's a modern retelling of wizard of Oz with modern music and its outstanding!
Another Grammy Award winning performance from PTX and an extraordinarily clear vocal from Dolly Parton. This is a collaboration made in heaven. Thank you for reacting to it!!!
WOW,WOW,WOW, Now that was epic,I love Ms.Dolly that was one of the best calibrations I've heard, that was beautiful 😍 Thank You for your reaction 💖 hope you and your family have a blessed evening 🙏
You were right the first time. Carl Dean didn’t go anywhere, he just had a little crush on the red head at the bank. The rest is just from Dolly’s brilliant mind. I once heard her say she would have snatched her bald if she had messed with her man. Happy Holidays Love and gratitude
I'm not a huge country fan, but Jolene is iconic. I think Pentatonix would absolutely kill taking on some country anthems. They did a medley called "Home" that would show you how the country world would quake in fear if Pentatonix ever decided to take them on.
I think the Dolly of today would NOW write it this way 🎶 Jolene Jolene Jolene Jolene If you want him, just take him off my hands 🎶 Pentatonix can do NO WRONG with me 😀
I think the group said they had an arrangement of this song for six singers if Dolly was interested. She was delighted and agreed to use Pentatonix' arrangement. She said she wrote to be a solo and she also wanted them to take the lead on the 2nd verse so she could sing some harmony. :o) (She also mentioned this in an interview)
If you love acapella, you should try out VoicePlay--Dream On, Hoist the Colours, The Dragonborn Comes! UA-cam collective agrees that PTX are the student council, VoicePlay are the theater kids, and Home Free are the guys running the kegger in the parking lot. XD
Thanks again for your reaction. I personally don't listen to country music at all but PTX has turned me on to many different types of music by listening to originals after hearing their versions. Just keep throwing in a PTX video every so often. Thanks again and stay safe.
PTX doesn’t do a lot of country music (despite being from Texas). Other than this collaboration (which won a Grammy), there’s an original song on their newest Christmas album called ‘Evergreen’ which has a country/folk feel.
@@perfectkismet Yes, they did a small piece of Elvira as a tribute to The Oak Ridge Boys at the CMAs, and got a standing ovation from the country stars in response. It's on UA-cam if anyone wants to see it.
Two of my favorite Christmas songs by Dolly Parton and Kenny Rogers are "Once Upon a Christmas" and "The Greatest Gift of All". Dolly and Kenny are among the greatest country music legends ever on a stage. btw: Liking your Pentatonix reactions very much.
Avi Kaplan (Pentatonix original bass in this video) moved to Tennessee when he left Pentatonix and I believe near where Dolly lives outside of Nashville. His solo original songs are more in the country, folk, Americana genre Dolly uses. Duets with Dolly that you should look at are Vince Gill "I will always love you" her song. Just a quick beginning- for King & Country, Kenny Rodgers, Willie Nelson, Kris Kristofferson, Queen Latifah, Julio Iglesias, Tanya Tucker, etc. Spotify has a handy list of collaborations she has done.
I'll watch anything with Avi. Here is a video of Avi singing his song, Aberdeen. ua-cam.com/video/zWYt_jFcaEc/v-deo.html Sometimes he is country, sometimes he is folk, sometimes he is Americana in his writing and singing. While he is operatically trained, he rarely uses that voice.
If you want to see Pentatonix live and on a British Show, check out Pentatonix on Sunday Brunch 2015. They show off their lack of cooking skills. Thanks for the reaction.
Another amazing artist is Kenny Rogers (Lady, Lucille, The Gambler) and with Dolly Parton a mega duet (live) “Islands in the stream”. (Wriiten by the BeeGees). The live version of another duet by Kenny and Dolly is “We’ve got tonight” is absolutely great and hilarious. They were great friends.
Country telling a story in videos, Travis Tritt Trilogy. The First Song of the Trilogy; 'Anymore' The Second Song; 'Tell Me I Was Dreaming' The Third Song; 'If I Lost You They need to be watched in this order.
Dolly Parton was huge in her day and another was Kenny Rodgers. They were two of the top country artists and both very close platonic friends. If you want to see what years of their relationship comes to in a fun song watch this. Islands in the stream. ua-cam.com/video/HQW7I62TNOw/v-deo.html
If you've seen the classic movie, please check out Wizard of Ahhhs by Toddrick Hall in colab with Pentatonix. If you don't know the movie, you won't get as much out this, but it's delightful anyway.
Give a listen to “Diane” by Cam. Dolly’s a huge influence on her and she wrote it from Jolene’s perspective. It’s a great song on its own but the lyrics are a great companion to Jolene.
You might want to take a look at Ring Of Fire cover by Home Free, another a cappella group that performs mostly country music. It features, not Pentatonix, but Avi Kaplan the bass singer. Home Free has an incredible bass singer as well by the name of Tim Faust.(last name may be misspelled) It's a great song.
There is another version of this song with Pentatonix and Dolly Parton live at the Grammys, but they also include Mylie Cyrus, you might want to check it out as well. Garth Brooks has an amazing song called "Thunder Rolls", and a group called State Of Mine did a metal cover of it that Garth Brooks loved, make sure you watch the long version because they add a third verse that makes the story the song tells much more powerful, don't worry, it still has a country feel. Of course you should check out Garth's original first, for comparison.
Because you love country, I thought I'd ask what you think of Southern Country Rap (or whatever the correct terminology is) such as "Ghost " by Upchurch (ua-cam.com/video/EsTA4G_tPt0/v-deo.html). I generally dislike rap, but this I love. Or what about, just for fun, "Without Me (Eminem) - Bluegrass Edition" (ua-cam.com/video/Wx6S6JPwzbU/v-deo.html) [from There I Ruined It productions].
I would love if you could react to Angelina Jordan, she has a couple of covers of country-ish songs : Crazy by Patsy Cline ua-cam.com/video/juQ9FJcjSWk/v-deo.html and Jolene ua-cam.com/video/zEFiRpUiL2Q/v-deo.html
Hang on??? Did you say your checking out everything country?????? You HAVE TO HAVE Patsy Cline and even Doris Day. OMG, YOU can’t leave these two out. That would be sacrilege. Doris Day, always wanted too be a Dancer. But being hit by a train while in a car with friends, she started singing. She never looked back. OMG. YOU REALLY, IVE NEVER BEGGED IN MY LIFE. But you have too put Doris Day in there. PLEASE 🙏🙏🙏🙏🙏🙏🙏🤷♀️👍🙏🫶🇬🇧🫶🇬🇧
I’ve seen Dolly live in the Uk 🇬🇧 only twice. She is even better live than on disc. What I’ve seen on UA-cam of PTX LIVE IS THE SAME. I know it sounds crazy but it’s not. 🤷♀️🙏🫶🇬🇧🤷♀️🙏🫶🇬🇧

She is literally old enough to be those kids' grandma.
Dolly is so generous with her music. She took nothing away from PTX but just added her unique sound. ❤
The perfect and I do mean the PERFECT MATCH. 😮😅😮😅😂😂🫶🤷♀️🇬🇧
This performance was a Grammy winner!!!
I love your reactions. You can tell that music just reaches into the core of your soul like me.
Dolly is a national treasure. I love how they do their thing but give her the spotlight
PTX loved Dolly. They said she showed up early , in full glam, and was such a lovely person.
Pentatonix does great on highlighting their guests. Thanks for this reaction. 😁😁😎

You are one of the few to review music AFTER listening to the song!
I think the Dolly of today would NOW write it this way

I do Love Dolly. Seen her a couple of times and she’s AMAZING LIVE. 😮😮😮😂❤😂❤
You would love "Radioactive " featuring Lindsay Stirling. Kevin gets to play his beloved " Beyoncé " (cello) and beatboxs at same time. Love it xx

This was a great reaction, so this is a revisit button...why don't they have a revisit button, or rewatch 🤔📌🖖✌👍
Thanks again for your reaction. I personally don't listen to country music at all but PTX has turned me on to many different types of music by listening to originals after hearing their versions. Just keep throwing in a PTX video every so often. Thanks again and stay safe.
You should give country a chance. Lots if really good music, as there is in all genres.
You've done Grammys 1 and 3, it's December, time to do number 2.. Dance of the Sugarplum Fairy!

They also did part of Elvira live while presenting at the CMAs. And Stuck Like Glue for New Country week when they were on The Sing-Off.

Anything Dolly does is good. I am a big fan of hers.
❤❤❤❤❤
Oh please react to PTX’s new one “ the Prayer” It’s just amazing
Hmmm. I was thinking the other way. I was watching this and thought they did great as an addition to Dolly. They all sounded great together.
Dolly Parton is amazing 👏
One of the most moving duets by Dolly is with Kenny Rogers-- You Can't Make Old Friends. Another is We've Got Tonight.
GOOD ONE!!
Check out Dolly Parton, Emmylou Harris and Linda Ronstack’s “Trio, and Trio II.”
Anyone see the irony of using 'Massive Massive' twice in the same sentence mentioning Dolly?
Agh, but she didn’t. Good on you Dolly. ❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤🎉🎉🎉🎉🎉

PTX did a song called Thrift Shop, so fun and totally different for them.
If you want to see Pentatonix live and on a British Show, check out Pentatonix on Sunday Brunch 2015. They show off their lack of cooking skills.
Thanks for the reaction.
Thank God I'm a Country Boy by Home Free
original by John Denver

Loved it. I like Dolly and PTX. I’ll get a list.
You should listen to Loretta Lynn's song, You Ain't Woman Enough to Take My Man. Completely different perspective!
If you've seen the classic movie, please check out Wizard of Ahhhs by Toddrick Hall in colab with Pentatonix. If you don't know the movie, you won't get as much out this, but it's delightful anyway.
Recommend their It’s Different Now and The Prayer.
I think you'd enjoy their rendition of Imagine, too.
I think you would love Avi's solo stuff he has a country / folk sound. Its really good you should check it out.
They also did this song again with Singer from Sugar Land at the CMA's I believe it was there. And again with Dolly and Miley Cyrus together live
Yes it was with Jennifer Nettles for the Dolly Parton tribute when she received the Willie Nelson Lifetime Achievement award at the CMA’s
@@CassieJean83 thank you!

Please do a reaction to Islands In the Stream by Dolly Parton and Kenny Rogers. They were long time close friends until he passed away from "c".

Shania Twain’s Man, I feel like a woman, From this moment on, and many more needs to be on your C&W journey.
I don’t know if you have listened to Garth Brooks yet? I love “thunder rolls”.
Please listen to Billy Currington, "People are Crazy"!!

Have you reacted to Home Free and Oak Ridge Boys doing Elvira?
