I have two of those, one exactly like yours and one in a red jig bone . They have taken on a beautiful patina from cutting Apples for the horse every day
Brother that is a beauty, why are not more knife channels talking about Queens,by the way its1065 carbon steel not 1095 there awesome knifes I've been hankering too get one now forsure I am awesome vid brother 🇺🇲🙏
I really appreciate your thoughts on this one. I think it's a great looking knife, and I'd carry that one any day. With those blade shapes, I'm guessing I'd be happy to have that one along on a hunting trip as well! Cheers, buddy!
You're right these are very good knives for the price. I have both of them, the burnt bone and the red bone. The red bone that I have is in better shape then the burnt bone. I also have a small amount of play on the secondary blade on the burnt bone. My burnt bone is a second, but the red is production run. Great knives for the money. CKW has them right now for $43.99 if you want to get the red bone. Great video as always. Later
Cool knife. So these are on eBay, as seconds for around $30. The only reason I never got one was because it doesn’t have USA stamped on it. They sell this one and a red boned version as seconds. For someone who doesn’t really like trappers, you sure do own some nice ones. Thanks for sharing
I don't like the way Trappers are over marketed and how just about every knife that isn't a historical pattern is some how suddenly a "Trapper" For Bow Trapper, Slimline Trapper, Jumbo Trapper, Bartender Trapper, etc. What used to be called a jack knife is now called trappers regardless of blade options just to generate sales.
The promotional photos that Bear & Son uses for its ""genuine Indian stag bone" are probably grounds for a fraud case compared to what you get on the actual knives.
The one I have is nice. The jigging is slightly different…each cut or groove seems to be more evenly spaced. Bought the Queen stag big boy trapper and I’m not sure who made it, but it almost seems like GEC made it. Also, the box doesn’t say country of origin anywhere.
Andy Armstrong published a UA-cam video on the supposedly first USA made SMKW Queen City knife over three years ago. It shows a Smooth Red Bone Trapper model QC19RS. I know that some had black covers of some type too. However, the video states and shows the Red Bone model. It sold for $44.99 and the video is still up and is viewable if you look for it. I happen to get one one on eBay. It is said to be a 2020 production I bought the one I have in 2022. I believe Big Red EDC has a black model in a video he made. He happens to refer to you in the video he made. The black model he has is blade marked Pilot Test Run The trapper model was a short limited according to Big Red. 👍
@@gizmocarr3093 , yep. These were a very quick run done so that SMKW could retain the Queen Trademark. Soon afterwards the Queen “China” knives hit the market. This latest jumbo/ Big Boy Trapper marked the return of Queen to the U.S.
1065 is a carbon steel typically used on machetes. That said, I've seen other other machete steels used on a pocket knives these days. 1065 is known for its toughness but it would have poor edge retention compared to 1095. It would also have a much lower HRC.
Ive shopped and bought several Queen knives lately and it seems to me that the cheaper ones are from China and the more expensive ones are USA made. At SMKW, Chicago cutlery, blade hq, etc that's the common denominator on all of em i looked at. 😊
@@KnifeChatswithTobiasThank God. The Chinese ones are cheap made and feel like it. None of the famous Queen walk and talk. They should drop the shield on the scales too. Many on eBay are missing them, worse than Bokers.
Oh man, if it's made in the USA they need to put that on the knife right there up front none of that BS "where's it from" nonsense. Great looking knife, that sweetheart of a pattern is a proven workhorse. I'm glad I'm downsizing. 😀
Great looking knife! If Bear & Son is making these as you said, they are doing an excellent job! Cool pattern.

Great looking Queen and as always I appreciate the history and background on the company and production of this piece! Thanks Tobias!!
Nice looking piece
This is a first for me! That is impressive...
Nice! New to put that one on my list! 🇺🇲

Great looking handles on it, very nice! 👍
Thanks. I'm pretty happy with it, overall.

It's a pretty cool knife. Seems to be a sturdy one as well!
I have a few of the Big Boy Trappers, mine are both seconds. Thanks for sharing your thoughts and have a great day.
I like the looks of it. I wish they would do another run - I’d buy one.
My guess is they will.
beautiful ordering mine soon
Good luck, this knife was very popular and sold out on most sites really fast.

Thanks. they did a pretty good job with it.

Totally agree. B&S does rosewood real well. Their "genuine Indian stag bone" looks like a 3 year oid tried to imitate Case's 6.5 stag.

The info I found says USA made with 1065 carbon steel. Ever heard of 1065? Also available in red bone.
Thanks Tobias

Looks almost like the rough rider collector series rr1032
Smkw doesnt say it's made by Bear and Son because of B&S's reputation. IMO at least
