Bro, you hit the nail on the head. Whenever 11 2263 came out I had a friend who is a bit older tell me about it and he said I should read it and I told him I don’t read very much. He said read it and you will love it. I read it and when the book was over I legitimately missed the characters like they were friends that I would never see again. What’s interesting is my father has always read Stephen King so in the last years of his life we got to bond over some of the books. Since my father passed away in 2014 I inherited every book that he had of Stephen kings written before then and I’m going through them right now. Desperation was fantastic I can’t wait to read the regulators. Thank you for this video it meant a lot to me and it follows the trajectory of my reading experience as well. I still have many books to go but I’ve read more books since 11 2263 then I would’ve ever imagined I’d read my lifetime. Reading has become very important to me. And I to gravitate towards King. I’ve tried to read the Kafka type stories they’re not all that in my opinion. King is king
I have been reading Stephen King from the age of thirteen, my grandmother used to say that I ate books she was permanently at the library bringing home loads of kings books, my mother hated me reading these books, they weren’t academic enough, well as an adult I no longer speak to my mother so King books are all over my home! I was flying from UK to Florida and we had to fly into Maine airport, I was like a kid in a candy store I went straight into a book store and I bought loads and some copies, the reason was because here in Britain we had different covers! I love Desperation, I have a ridiculous fear of arriving into a different part of your own country where the town is deserted and you are alone, I think I suffered a lot of desertion as a teenager so these books were my escape, and I love reading today as I did when I was thirteen, thank you for the very informative reviews! ❤️
Misery was my first stephen king book and I haven't been able to find an author I like better since! I really need to read the regulators since I already flew threw desperation, but I'm halfway through the Dark Tower right now and I can't make myself stop!
I was just reading this book! (Middle way through now) Totally agree with you how terrifying the start of the book is! Especially when the police gets weird and the tension builds up !!
Love your analysis of his Third Person Omniscient narration. He's really a master at fleshing out details and embodying real characters who propel and are propelled by plot. Loved this book.
Thanks for the review. I'm currently reading Desperation about 200 pages in and it's great so far. I, like you got into reading because of Stephen King. I am in my 40s and never really liked reading as a kid, maybe read a few books in my whole life until now. Thanks Mr King! Favorite SK book so far has to be The Shining followed very closely by Misery.
Yeah I never was a much of a reader until my early 20’s. In this day and age it’s nice to get off a screen or social media and invest something that takes time and real thought like a book
Funny thing, the Desperation Adaptation is a terrible film but I love it with all my heart and I will argue with alacrity that is it probably the most accurate stephen king adaptation made with pages of dialogue and set pieces taken straight out of the book. To this day, Desperation is probably my favorite Stephen King novel ever. I have the same version you do and I've read through it so many times the cover and picture underneath have long since worn off the books spine. I don't know why, I just love this book to death
I thought I knew of every Stephen King book ever written and then I saw this being mentioned this week in a review of all of King's works on another channel. Never heard of this particular novel. Ironically, the person who mentioned it claimed it was his least favorite novel out of King's entire portfolio. No offense. Ive never read it myself so I wouldn't know either way. Just goes to prove how subjective reviews can be though. Guess I'll have to check it out for myself. Just thought it was interesting and I always appreciate another opinion. Cheers friend
Ive read “it” 3 times... read the shining, misery, pet sematary mire times than i care to mention. Desperation is different. Its about desolation and greed and pure carnal desert ancient gods and haunted mining caves it’s insane
