Perfumes should be tried and worn on pulse points but not behind your ears as the oils there that they mix with are different. Spray before you put on clothes or jewelry and let dry without rubbing. They will change throughout the day as the different notes come through and will also last longer that way. The best way to decide is to wear a perfume for a while and then go back and buy. Some counters/stores will give you a small sample. It's a good way to not make a costly mistake.
I had a time when I bought an insane amount of perfumes, and I'm still trying to sell some of them. But I have also found that over the years my taste has shifted, so if something felt meh before, try it again, also pay attention to if you've tried it in warm or cold weather because it does impact the smell. I used to think that was just BS but now I'm really surprised by how much I like some perfumes during the winter, which I could barely wear during summer.
This was refreshing! Perfumes either bother me or disappear. I have one apothecary that grows her own ingredients, uses ancient recipes and designs her own that I have obsession with. However, you have inspired me to give a few a try! So fun! 🌷
A lot of these are very basic/overly commercial. Try some more niche/artisan frags... The Perfume Guy or Jus de Rose have great suggestions. I love houses like L'Artisan Parfumer, Memo, Penhaligons, Atelier Des Ors, Jovoy, Chris Collins, Kajal, Spirit of Dubai, Eight & Bob, Frapin, Profumum Roma, Frederic Malle, Xerjoff, Floraiku, Nishane, Vilhelm Parfumerie, Nasomatto, Ormaie, Killian Paris, Francsca Bianchi, Bortnikoff, Orto Parisi, House of Oud, Electimuss, Forte & Manle, Santa Maria Novella...so so many!! A really grand olfactory adventure!! 👃✈⛵🪂🛤
Yes!!! Personally, I can't understand all the love for Jo Malone. Seriously, they are all cologne strength fragrances that will wear off in about one hour! The weakest strength I go for now is eau de parfum. Plus, you get more for your money: more fragrance oil and less fillers! Currently I am really digging niche brands. My two current favorites: Anubis by Papillon and Ambre Russe by Parfum D'Empire Paris.
Also, I don’t think Sophie actually knows what oud smells like. She says Initio Side Effect smells like pure oud. Girl, there is NO OUD in there, none. It smells nothing like oud. Nobody could even mistake that for oud. People like to talk about stuff they heard a salesperson mention, but most of the time they’re talking nonsense. I just can’t.
I’ll have to look into these now! I like a more “spicier” scent for myself and my top two currently are: Libre by YSL & Born in Roma by Valentino. Both absolutely amazing and long lasting! The Valentino always gets me compliments.
I love love love the Giorgio Armani Prive line, especially the Malachite fragrance you mentioned 😍!! They also have a really smoky incense one called Bois d'Encens that I love, and they really do last all day don't they! Louis Vuitton also have some amazing fragrances, especially Matiere Noire, Ombre Nomade (I think you will love that one Sophie) and Les Sable Roses
I'm late to the designer perfume world but I have been curating a small collection. My favorite right now is Tom Ford Tobacco Vanille. Lots of staying power and enjoy all day.
The Armani Prive malachite range is the best, if you like the Vert try the Rouge - gets compliments every time , is expensive but I’ve had mine since 2018! ❤
You can describe fragrances very well!! I also love Jo Malone's "Velvet Rose and Oud" and also think it's very wintery and love the woody scent of Oud! If you like Patchouli, you may wanna try "Warm Amber" by Prada! Also very sensual!! Now I have to try the other perfumes you mentioned :-)
Please will you do a blog on how to manage perfumes from tarnishing jewellery, hair products damaging clothes, and recommend tried and tested ‘specialist dry cleaners’ for the clothes? That would be a great video. No one does maintenance vids. 🙏🏽
Perfumes don't typically spoil, well, at least quality ones shouldn't. I never had that happen to me, did anyone? I still have Tom Ford's Oud Wood that' like around 10 yr and it still smells good. My mom still has vintage Magie Noire from the 80's that's still amazing and strong.
Diptyque perfume has stolen my heart to the point I’ve got rid of all others! For me specifically Do Son, but I have three others as well and they are all fantastic.
I have Do Son too. Very heavy white floral/Tuberose. If you love Tuberose perfumes, check out The Perfume Guy's video on Tuberose. Lots of great suggestions.
I’m a big Killian fan. Rose Oud is my favorite and I favor unisex or men’s fragrance. I buy sample sizes before I would invest in a larger bottle. I buy samples on line from aseveral websites. Side effect is also one of my favorites
Sophie, in Italy Mac perfumes are still available, you can find them online at Douglas or Pinalli. My mother loves flowerbomb, too! I'm in love with oriental perfumes, I'm addicted. At the moment my favourite is Santal Royal by Guerlain, but I like Cuir Inyense, too, also by Guerlain. I really don't like Chanel ones.
I also slowed way down on buying perfume and I still have a boatload that I'll never get through. When they've been in the cupboard for a while, I pass them on so that they don't completely go to waste. I enjoy them all! Thank you for the reviews which were quite helpful!
Sophie, how long your perfume last depends on how you put it on (before or after you wear your clothes). places of your body you spray your perfume, Perfume vs Eau de toilette. People should always consider layering your fragrance with other parts of the range if the exists, e.g. body mist, lotion, oil, hair mist. Body creams you use can effect the smell of your perfumes and a clean vs dirty body.
I absolutely LOVE Louis Vuitton fragrances! I have four bottles: Rhapsody, Les Sables Roses, Nouveau Monde, and Mahere Noire. The bottles are refillable and each scent is unique. I love musk, oud, pachouli, and sandalwood. Prices range from $350 - $550 USD. Highly recommend.
Merry Christmas Sophie! There's a perfume scent to suit everyone and it's nice you're sharing your favorites. Over the years I've worn perfumes such as Paco Rabanne Calandre, Gucci #1 and #3, Jean Patou Joy, Coco Chanel, Diorella, etc. My favorite is Diorissimo and it suits me. Thank God it's still available online. Cheers everyone!
Thanks for the great suggestions! I also have a ton of perfumes I can't possibly wear before they go bad, lol! Always trying and falling in love with new ones! I'll have to look for and smell that Kay Ali one... I LOVE apple scents!
I have a few oud/sandalwood/heady favourites - Le Labo Tabac (tobacco), Atelier Cologne Santal de Carmin (sandalwood), Replica Jazz Club (whiskey and cigars)
Very nice video soph my first perfume was ralph lauren that got from manchester and hugo boss and paris hilton in scotland. Threxoerience was lovely and made me felt like a spoiled princesswho doesnot have any issue or worry and was a billionaire and gorgeous sans any job stressing me out or any relationship or money struggles
I wear “guy” colognes all the time. Like Hugo boss and, don’t judge me please, Sauvage Dior. I do own Jo Malone wood 🪵 & sage. My mom tried to, growing up, tell me about “ day perfume” vs “ evening perfume” - never bothered 😕 with the concept. I can’t stand gardenia ( “old lady” scent), but don’t mind florals, depending on my mood. Lol 😂. My cousin’s been raving about “ Baccarat Rouge 540 Eau de Parfum by MAISON FRANCIS KURKDJIAN” - not tried it yet, but oh so want to. Love ❤️ malachite, my aunts got a table top made of malachite. Love ❤️ your recommendations, happy holidays, merry Christmas 🎁🎄, happy new year 🎈🎊🎆, Hugs 🤗, Amy
I’m surprised you didn’t include baccarat rouge 540. I feel like every UA-cam video of fragrances features br540. At first I was like what’s the big deal but I’m a convert. I love it! And it really really lasts!
My all time favorites are Bottega Veneta Illusions, Hermés Jour d' Hermés. Also I have the Dior J'adior body oil that is amazing. All of these the same criteria that you mentioned. Armani Si is also beautiful. I had just the same times when I bought perfume like every other week or so, it was like an addiction.
I used to buy different perfumes all the time and had many. One day I just had enough and barely use perfume anymore. I stick to one: coco mademoiselle. Thanks for your thoughts and advices. Merry Christmas to you and David.
Lovely options thanks for sharing Yes I have perfume I won't get through anytime soon lol. I have to try the Tom Ford Noir. I currently have Coco Noir which is quite light and not overly floral or sweet to me. Happy Holidays!
How about Royal Crown “AL Kimiya” I passed by a counter and it is a rose based scent and was one of the best I smelled in my life not kidding at all. It is subtle and “wealthy” smelling in a non-offensive manner.
My top 5: 1) molecules #1 2) crystalle by Chanel 3) Halston for women 4) Dune by Christian Dior 5) light blue by Dolce and gabbana Cannot go wrong with these!
DIOR Addict smells 2days on me if not showered ...TF Noir Pour Femme and BO last long, most INITIOs are powerhouses, if you like Alien, Addictive Vibrations are like on on steroids but posher, Psychodelic Love has very good reviews too. Armani;s Rouge Malachite smells very expensive too:)

I just bought perfume from Maison Dior (Tobacolar) and I know their reputation isn’t as other private lines but I’ve been thinking about it since April. I am a huge Tom Ford fan, my Oud Wood is running low and I’d like to replace with something different
I've had Flowerbomb for a long time and just didn't reach for it. I recently started watching videos on fragrance and remembered it, now it's a favorite :) I'd like to know your thoughts on the House of Sillage fragrances, particulary Ruby Reign. Thanks for sharing! I've added some new fragrances to my list :)
Your taste is great❤perfume is my favourite topic I can listen or talk about it for hour😅its interesting how people are describing their feelings about a perfume and why they like it or not
I collect perfumes too, have always loved wearing fragrance. Years ago I loved one called Bal a Versailles, but it was discontinued. One day on a whim I searched for it on Ebay and found an almost full bottle someone was selling. I bought it and have it still, and although it has faded somewhat, I can still enjoy it. I keep it in a dark, cool place. I wonder if you could search for that MAC one you love.
The newest Kayali scent, Burning Lovefest Cherry also is in a red bottle, but it’s sort of a darker cherry red where the apple I think is a clearer and lighter red bottle. Also recommend this one, the cherry note sticks around for me (if you like a smoky woody cherry scent).
I adore Creed Aventus for her and get loads of complements, but I literally have to bathe in it, and it never lasts on me 😭 Currently wearing the new Jadore parfum leau. Might have to try one of those Tom Ford's if they last a long time, does anyone know one that smells similar to Aventus?
My only question when I buy perfume is am I allergic to it and most of the time the answer is yes. My everyday perfume is Chanel Gabrielle but I can only cope with two sprays in the small of my back. It’s actually a really good place to spray it because people around me can smell it but it’s well away from my respiratory system and my jewellery. Never spray perfume, hair spray or any chemicals on jewellery, especially pearls, in time it will destroy them. It’s very annoying because it also means that perfumed candles, hair products and real flowers make me very ill and are all banned from my house.
Perfumes should be tried and worn on pulse points but not behind your ears as the oils there that they mix with are different. Spray before you put on clothes or jewelry and let dry without rubbing. They will change throughout the day as the different notes come through and will also last longer that way. The best way to decide is to wear a perfume for a while and then go back and buy. i agree, Tom Ford perfumes are long lasting. i bought my very first one and did not regret one thing about it.
I also don't like floral fragrances, but I love Viktor & Rolf Flowerbomb.

I just love TF Noir. It‘s been my signature scent for years. Merry Christmas to you and your family, Sophie!
I'm late to the designer perfume world but I have been curating a small collection. My favorite right now is Tom Ford Tobacco Vanille. Lots of staying power and enjoy all day.
I’ve been loving Montale lately, the smell stays strong for so long on me 🥰

I love Initio Atomic Rose ! it is amazing! Kind of like Parfum de Marly Delina, but lighter. they are sister companies , by the way💞

My beloved Vert Malachite! It was love at first sniff 💚 The same happened with Jasmine Sambac & Marigold by JM.
I also slowed way down on buying perfume and I still have a boatload that I'll never get through. When they've been in the cupboard for a while, I pass them on so that they don't completely go to waste. I enjoy them all! Thank you for the reviews which were quite helpful!
Malachite line is very magnetic! I also adore Atomic Rose by Initio ❤️

I was looking for this comment. I have 11 LV scents and l love them all . LV perfumes are very underrated.
I have had my eye on Vert Malachite. Picked up Rouge Malachite and I LOVE it. I need to complete the pair ASAP ❤
Merry Christmas Sophie! There's a perfume scent to suit everyone and it's nice you're sharing your favorites. I have a few oud/sandalwood/heady favourites - Le Labo Tabac (tobacco), Atelier Cologne Santal de Carmin (sandalwood), Replica Jazz Club (whiskey and cigars)
My favourite is from Ambre Nuit from the Dior Privé collection. It’s just gorgeous! Happy Christmas to you and David 🎄
Flowerbomb is my scent . It’s beautiful ❤

Dark Amber & Ginge Lily from Joe Melone is a good one.
Hi Sophie! I like how you describe the fragrances. Helpful!
Its BDK Pas Ce Soir for me! I am obsessed!!!!
And also BDK Gris Charnel. Both are divine ❤
@@deborahrombouts9958 i have all 3, Pas Ce Soir, Gris Charnel and Rouge Smoking. I need Pac Ce Soir and Rouge Smoking for life!
Hi Sophie! I wanted to wish you and your family a Merry Christmas! I hope you have wonderful time ♥
I love the hermes un jardin line, they all smell SO lux to me
I"m more on strong citrus / vetiver scents over sweet or ouds. I feel the same, I need to stop buying perfumes
Merry Christmas 🎅 🎄 ❤️ Sophie!
Dior Addict is my signature scent - always get a compliment - still love it after a decade of wearing it.
I used to buy different perfumes all the time and had many. One day I just had enough and barely use perfume anymore. I stick to one: coco mademoiselle.
Thanks for your thoughts and advices.
Merry Christmas to you and David.
Wishing you, David and Bunny a wonderful
Christmas from Adrienne in NYC!❤️
Omg so happy you did this…. I’m looking to buy a niche fragrance ❤❤❤❤
Merry Christmas!! Thank you for pushing out videos during this time of year. It’s not an easy time of the year and it’s great to watch your content ❤
Hi sophie I'm very sensitive to floral smells. Tru you I discover the Oud by Guerlain.Thank you so much for sharing your videos with us.
I love Tom Ford Tobacco Vanille as my winter perfume.
Would love to see a perfume collection!
Lovely options thanks for sharing Yes I have perfume I won't get through anytime soon lol. I have to try the Tom Ford Noir. I currently have Coco Noir which is quite light and not overly floral or sweet to me. Happy Holidays!

So enjoyed this vlog as I love perfumes. I am just like u I have so many. LOL. Merry Christmas to u, David and the bunnies.
Merry Christmas Sophie!
I never got as bad of a headache as from flowerbomb 🤢 synthechic sweet overdose and unable to smell even one flower. A total pass for me
100% agreed with all of ur lovely choices!! Merry Christmas to u and David btw🎉
My top 5:
1) molecules #1
2) crystalle by Chanel
3) Halston for women
4) Dune by Christian Dior
5) light blue by Dolce and gabbana
Cannot go wrong with these!
THAT - I was going to mention my signature scent - Addict - get SO MANY COMPLIMENTS.
I have far too much perfume and I have to stop and only buy ones which I really know I love instead of also having ones that I just like. For me, perfume is uni-sex always. I get cross when the staff in department stores spray perfume on me without permission. I love perfume but not all of them and I want to be the one to decide whether I wear it. I still don't have an LV perfume. I was underwhelmed by the first ones they introduced, but they seem to be vastly improved since then so I need to seriously investigate them.
Thank you for the video! Have an amazing day!
I love all the perfumes you have shown! I also love Initio Absolute Aphrodisiac. It‘s just divine. If you haven’t already you should give it a sniff. Happy Holidays ❤
Absolute aphrodisiac is sooo sexy!
Great video as always.
Have you tried any fragrances by Boadicea the Victorious? I've discovered their fragrances by chance in Harrods and now I'm addicted.
Have a great Christmas!!!
I have restricted myself from buying perfumes because they are my obsession. I'm a huge oud fan. I limit myself to four perfume purchases per year. I could probably go five years without buying perfumes because I have so many. I love your videos.
I know the feeling! I have hundreds of perfumes. The obsession is real! 😂😂
@@SMC1986 maybe we should go to perfumes anonymous Happy New Year
My fav for years has been Hermes Rouge!
Hi Sophie! I remember you used to like Oud Save The Queen by Atkinsons, do you still use that fragrance?
Have you tried any of the Louis Vuitton perfumes?
I love oud and fragrance...obsessed 💕💕💕 try Eden...it's lovely and powdery I love it. A very old perfume the stars of old Hollywood wore alot..actually very inexpensive now.
I love initio oud for greatness. I will check out the guerlain you mentioned.
Love you Sophie! Merry Christmas!
Have a wonderful Christmas, Sophie! Let them be an opportunity for you to rest and gather energy and ideas for the future.
Merry Christmas Sophie❤❤❤
Kayali means my imagination in Arabic. What do you think about Chanel Chance? Am not sure about which one to get. Happy New Year!
Scentsplit is a great way to try out samples of nice perfumes without investing in a large bottle.
There is a fragrance by Michael Blakey. AKA Priducer Michael. I heard it's really good. You should try it. I use my Chanel Chance Eau Fraiche. Love the citrus smell.
Molecules perfume unisex get sooo many compliments and not too pricey.
Oud perfumes smells like a harem/brothel to me.
Rather stick to the YSL and TF
Also try Chanel Beige and the LV range of perfumes as you seem to like the heavier/sweeter editions
Great recs! There's no oud at all in Cuir Beluga or Side Effect though.... CB is leather and SE is boozy
I’m definitely a Thierry Mugler fragrance girl!
I also have a perfume problem! When I find something I like, I would stock up a few bottles when, if I they are easy to repurchase. I know they may go bad before I even open a new bottle, but I still can't stop buying in bulk
For men I like the new Prada Ocean Lunarossa fragrance it is saur nice even the prada paradoxe smells good for women
I just bought perfume from Maison Dior (Tobacolar) and I know their reputation isn’t as other private lines but I’ve been thinking about it since April. I am a huge Tom Ford fan, my Oud Wood is running low and I’d like to replace with something different
Side effect is a rum, tobacco, vanilla scent. No oud in it.
It's gorgeous!!!
Absolutely no trace of Oud in there. Such a boozy tobacco fragrance
I've had Flowerbomb for a long time and just didn't reach for it. I recently started watching videos on fragrance and remembered it, now it's a favorite :) I'd like to know your thoughts on the House of Sillage fragrances, particulary Ruby Reign. I have used this Joe Malone 🥰🥰
Cuir Beluga is a leather scent, Side Effect is a tobacco scent, they do not have oud in the 'disclosed' notes.
Your taste is great❤perfume is my favourite topic I can listen or talk about it for hour😅its interesting how people are describing their feelings about a perfume and why they like it or not

Bal a Versailles is available on Amazon, I have not tried it but heard good things about it.
I don't know how to describe it, honestly. It's floral but something else too. I love it.
Going to use up my Bond #9 then going to check these out
The newest Kayali scent, Burning Lovefest Cherry also is in a red bottle, but it’s sort of a darker cherry red where the apple I think is a clearer and lighter red bottle.

It’s very annoying because it also means that perfumed candles, hair products and real flowers make me very ill and are all banned from my house.
